View Full Version : is this feasible?
I'd like opinions on whether anyone thinks this will work- we are going to spend our 2nd day at AK (Nov 1)... we haven't seen the parade yet & I really want to see this. I'm assuming it will be at 4:00, if the park closes at 5. If we are at the beginning of the parade or near the entrance to AK, we'd like to get out of there as soon as the parade is over- and make it to 'Ohanas for dinner (is 5:00 too early?) - then get on the monorail & do EPCOT that night.
I'm planning only Future World stuff that night- Figment, Innoventions, Wonders of Life, Spaceship Earth, & Universe of Energy, and of course- Illuminations. (if we don't get them all done, it's ok- since we will be at EPCOT again for Early Entry, so we can save those for that time).
so- what's the best location for the AK parade to see it quickly & get out quickly afterward-
and what's a good time to make a PS for 'Ohanas & how long do you think we will have in EPCOT- and do the rides close early or are they open until park closing?
Thanks!
:hiding: don't laugh at me for being OCD & a commando! Our day is going to be filled with the "walking tour" type thing- all the things we haven't seen because we've been too busy doing the thrill rides! Pangami, Rafiki's Planet, Pocahontas, Camp Mickey-Minnie... ok I do have the Safari & Primeval Whirl in there too.

pixi - I believe anything is possible  -- it might be a little tight getting to O'hana at 5 pm if you are using Disney Transportation. I think a bus to the poly would work - it does take some time but still doable.
I think a PS at Ohana is a must. Now the only word of caution I would give is that Future World sometimes closes down a couple hours before the World Showcase and that would put a big bump in your plan. Does not mean you can't do it but I might suggest a late dinner at Ohana and go directly to Epcot and tour Future World. I found late afternoon and early evening to be a wonderful time to 'do' Future World!
Happy planning!

I believe the parade is usually at 3:00? Does that change things?
And to each her own style! Sometimes even *I* get a bit commando!
I think I read that the parade is usually an hour before the park closes- checked on the Daily Fix & it definitely has the parade TODAY at 4:00 with park closing at 5
pixi, I think BetsyAnn's idea of doing the parade, then heading over to Epcot will suit you the best. Most of FW does indeed close at 7:00 PM, with the exception of Test Track, Mission Space and I think Spaceship Earth. Doing dinner between the parade and Epcot would put you there too late, IMNSHO.
HTH
oh POOH!
we will never make it that late for dinner- we are an early dinner family....
hmm... maybe this is NOT a good night to head to EPCOT. I have this day planned so we are eating light to be hungry for 'Ohanas... if we wait until after Illuminations, we'll definitely cave & eat somewhere else.
Or, we could just head right to FW & leave when everything closes there at 7- that's still pushing it for us. Especially if we've only had bakery fare & a kids pizza LOL which is what I've been planning on this day.
I'm glad I asked... kind of. LOL.
Maybe I should leave early from AK after all, and miss the parade again- hopefully it will still be around for our 2005 summer trip with my sister.
Either way, we have to eat at 'Ohanas this day... so we will most likely have to go to FW earlier & have a late dinner as suggested (since I'm sure dinner hours start at 5 probably)... but not too late, LOL
ok THANKS again!

The only problem I see is that the parade starts somewhere near Africa. So, if you watch it there, you are going to have a hard time walking past everyone else is is still waiting for the parade between Africa and the bridge to get out of the park. If you wait near that bridge(in front of the ToL), the parade probably wont get there until about 4:20 or so, then by the time its over, it will be around 4:40 or so. That only leaves you 20 minutes to get out of the park, wait for a bus and drive to the Poly. I am thinking you would be better with a 5:20 or 5:30 PS at Ohana. Beleive me, I am a mover. That would even be tight for ME  IF, you are a fast walker and can navigate crowds well, then I would watch the parade in Africa(or where ever it comes out of) then high tail it through the crowds and back past the parade, then you may have a chance. It would take too long to walk around past Asia.
Good luck to ya girl 8)

Hey Pixi,
Pretty much what everyone said is good advice. The parade has been running at 4pm for the past three trips we have made, I would bet that it will be at 4. Knowing that, it would be hard to make a 5pm PS for 'Ohanas since the bus over to the Poly takes quite a while (on top of the small wait time you may have at the depot). A better bet would be to make a 6pm PS and go to MK (if it is open past 7pm) for the evening.
Like everyone said, the pavilions generally close at 7pm with the "rides" staying open until 9pm. Perhaps you could squeeze Ohana's in during a MK day and go to an Epcot restaurant for dinner after AK??

why dont you do Epcot first thing including FW? Go to AK lunch time and watch parade at 4pm. Leave after parade (I agree, watch it from Africa, then head straight through to the exit and you will probably miss the parade coming the other way) - then have your PS at Ohana's and then if you have the energy, go back to Epcot for fireworks.. that seems the best use of your time.
LOL you guys all have great ideas-
this is Monday, the AK early entry day, and it's the one day I planned at AK... I wanted to see the Awakening (hopefully they still have that there..) that day, then do Pangami, the Safari, Rafiki Planet, Primeval Whirl, & Camp Minnie Mickey to see the characters.. However- I can miss the Awakening & see it next trip, so if I go to EPCOT in the morning & AK at lunchtime, is there enough time to do the other stuff in the 4 hour period between lunch & the parade? If we did this- then we would not go back to EPCOT for Illuminations- we would probably just do the monorail tour like we normally do after 'Ohanas.
I have the other EE AK day (Friday) scheduled as our "off" day... so can't do it that day either- and since we are arriving Sunday, we REALLY don't want Monday to be an "off" day LOL.
So, I'm thinking if all else fails- we can skip the AK parade that day, and I can see it our next trip.
Or the other option-- Does anyone think it will be enough time if I leave AK by 2-2:30 & head right to EPCOT, that we have enough time to see everything by 6 to leave for dinner at Ohana's around 6:30?
That's about 3 hours...
How much time should I allow for those FW things...Figment, Innoventions, Wonders of Life, - as for Spaceship Earth, & Universe of Energy-they are EE items, I think. - and I can save Illuminations for one of our other EPCOT nights.
Ok now that I am TOTALLY confused...
what's your opinion?
