For the last few trips, I have been making a few mental notes during the planning stages of specific photos I wanted to get during the trip. Sometimes these photos were for my web page, such as photos of the 3 Disney outlets, and sometimes they were just for fun, such as my pic of the Water Bridge taken from the monorail (I like taking this pic on every trip, but I usually forget, so after 16 trips I only have about 5 or 6 pics of the thing.)
This year I want to get:
1) My Water Bridge pic
2) My yearly, traditional pic inside the pyramid at Mexico
3) My yearly, traditional pic of Spaceship Earth at night
4) Some pics of the new construction at the Prime 1 Outlets (the Disney outlet ought to be moved into their new digs by MouseFest)
5) Pics inside any new restaurants I might try
6) Fireworks pics on a tripod (finally taking the full-size tripod with me this year)
7) Some good, long-exposure nighttime castle pics
8) If I stay on-site, some nighttime pics (during EMH) of the Tree of Life, a rare subject
What's on your list for your next trip to WDW, DLR, or DCL?

I have several but there was one that I missed getting on my last trip that I want to be sure to get on the next. I want a photo of Illuminations from behind the gate at the China Pavilion. One night I walked out of the soldier exhibit just as the fireworks were starting and the view of the fireworks with the gate in the foreground was amazing. That's on the top of my list for October.

Being local, I find myself particularly looking for 'changes'.
It could be anything I want to report back on from a new 'green wall' to the removal of the car outside the Sci-Fi Drive In. (When did they take away the car?)

I'm hoping to get better at night photography so I can great night shots finally!
Some stop action speed shots of rides
The specific one I want so far is the Mickey hands bench on the Boardwalk.

I don't have a single decent fireworks picture. I'm investing in a good camera and I'm going to actually read the manual instead of filing it away. I want to use the camera to its full potential, and I want to learn as much as possible about night time pictures. I hope to get some good night shots next trip.

Carrie,
Barrie's got some great links on how to shot firework shows at Disney. Follow the Focus on Disney World link in her signature.
What camera are you getting?

No clue yet.
I'm probably going to be there for a conference this coming Spring. I'll stay over the weekend and tour the parks by myself with no other objective than taking pictures. Here are the main things I'd like to shoot:
1) Night shots - our kids go to be early, so I have few good night shots. Because it's a photo trip, I'll also bring along a tripod.
2) Architectural shots. I'd like to get more shots of buildings and their settings.
3) Signs. I want to build a large collection of signage shots.
4) Shows. I've got some decent shots of FotLK and Fantasmic! I'd like to get more shows.

Trash cans are your friend. Seriously.
I've taken some decent night shots (like SE) by setting my camera on the top of one of a WDW trash can or flower pot or any other sturdy surface. I also believe if you're going to lean over water or a long drop be sure to have the camera's strap around your shoulders or wrapped around your wrist. I also doesn't hurt to wrap the strap around your wrist if you're going to place the camera down.
Fireworks shots for me will be from outside a park where I can get the castle (or insert other park icon here) framed by the fireworks. I will rent that lens...
I'd also like to get a picture of a kid getting his wheely shoes confiscated by a CM.
But, that's just me.

Robb! ROTFL!!! I'd love to see an album of that!
Will I have never thought of making a list of the pictures I'd like to take before I went away! It's a good idea though if your a good phographer or a scrapbooker.
For me most pics have my kids in it, including the biggest kid Joe;)!
I think when we go on our next trip I'd like to get some shots of the different resorts we visit.....without having a family member in the photo! Like we'll be at the BW for dinner so I'd love a nice night shot across the lagoon at YC/BC. Or when we check into POR I would like to get some shots of the resort as we explore! AND I think I'd like a shot of each of the "land" signs in MK!!!!

I do the same thing, but I also carry a pocket-size tripod with me for this technique, because the tripod will allow me to put my camera on a trash can but point it in the proper direction.

No, it's not.

I can't really share my list on here because its too long. Here's what a Disney/Scrapbooking nerd I am. I am making a huge scrapbook of "What is Disney World?" I created a spreadsheet that has all the Parks, Resorts, every attraction and restaurant in each park, all the different categories of Downtown Disney, the busses, boats, monorails, etc. My spreadsheet outlines all the things I want to include in my massive scrapbook. I've marked off which pictures I have already, I've nabbed some nice shots off the internet, and I marked which shots I still need. I've been creating this spreadsheet since last summer and I think its about complete. Now I have to print out the checklist of all the shots I have yet to get. The only problem is, with things constantly changing, my scrapbook will contantly be updating so it will never be complete. It's going to cost me a small fortune to print out the hundreds of pictures I'll need so I'm going to create this over time since I need attraction signs and tons of pictures of the outside and insides of each ride, show, restaurant, whatever.
I was thinking of putting my pages in a large 3 ring binder, but as I collect pictures I am thinking each park may have its own binder and maybe another binder for resorts. So this will be an ongoing project for a long time that is sure to keep the Disney/Scrapbooking geek in me alive.

I think that's actually quite kind of you. I'd like that stop action shot just after they've crashed into a display and the falling merchandise is caught in mid air. I wouldn't mind capturing the faces of the those standing around too.
Then I'd ask the closest CM if Disney would like a copy of the picture.
