Last week when we were at Epcot, we went to the Living Seas. For some reason or another, we have skipped this attraction on our 2 previous trips. I couldn't believe they stopped having the littel ride through the aquarium. While it was really no big deal, and certainly not a long or thrilling ride, I used to like to go on it. It was all closed up on this trip. Anyone know why? Or how long it's been like that? My kids did like the new Nemo exhibit in there..they needed to freshen it up a bit. Kathy :ariel:

ARe you talking about the "Elevator" thingy? That's the only thing I remember in the living seas. It was gone May of 2002 when we were there!

I can not remember when they stopped the ride part but it seems like a couple of years. I agree it was not very long but always liked going thru the Aquarium.

Bookwood, when I went in December we went on the elevator things. What was missing was the "people mover" ride through the aquarium. It was always sooo short, though, that I hardly missed it.

I went in 1998 and they had a ride to go through the aquarium back then. We skipped it in our 1999 trip but went in our 2002 trip and it was gone. I remmebr it was a slow moving ride to look at all the aquariums instedof the current walk through exhibit. the elevator was there both times for our trip.

Kathy,
That ride has been gone for a few years now, but like you I miss it. Even though it was short, it was part of that 'magical' feel of The Living Seas. They sure could use something more to spruce that area up. It and The Land need some pizzazz!

This last time we visited the Living Seas I felt like I took a magical elevator that transported me right back into the 1980's! I, too, used to like the little ride. In fact, this year I dragged my family on, yet I was even a little disapointed. The Nemo exhibit was great, though, albeit small...and I do love those manatees!
I do have to make an argument here FOR the blandness of the Land, however. This past trip we spent most of our breakfasts there on Epcot mornings. If you catch breakfast right at 9:30 when the food stations open you can have practically the whole Land to yourself! It's peaceful, quiet, there's that jazzy soundtrack...it's the perfect escape!
