View Full Version : Do you save your old WDW passes? What else do you save?

I wish that I had kept the hopper from my first trip in 1990. It was a 3-day, I think, and it was during that wonderful time when Disney flirted with putting digital pictures of each Guest on his pass, so mine has a crappy early digital pic of me on it. And of course, the pass was about 6 or 7 inches long, too long to fit in a typical wallet or pocket, yet it said "Don't fold" right on it. Whoever designed that pass just wasn't thinking! Thankfully they didn't stay with that scheme long.

That pass would have made a wonderful souvenier if I had kept it. I've kept most of my passes from subsequent trips; I have every pass I have used since 1998, each stored in a plastic baseball card pouch, along with Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest, E-night, MVMCP, and Universal Studios passes, and all the room key cards from my on-site visits. I even have a few old WDW parking passes from a couple of my trips!

What other small items from your trips do you keep?

I still have my pass from 1990 floating around here somewhere with my digital photo and everything!

We also still have our mugs from CBR from our 1994 trip. Those are the only two trips I've taken, so that's about all I have. I'll be interested to see what others have kept. :D

Well I'm not so organized like you, but I probably have all my old passes - I'm horrible about throwing anything away. I know I have the pass with the picture on it some place.

However, my favorite pass is the original ticket books with the A - E tickets. I still have both Junior and Adult versions, although none completely full. OK, now that I said that it makes me wonder if they changed the age ranges or if they used to have 3 categories because I most certainly wasn't 10 or younger the first time I went.

I don't have scrapbooks, I have scrapboxes. I am such a pack-rat sentimental fool that I save about every scrap of memories I can!

I'm sure I can find years worth of: park tickets, park maps, entertainment schedules, resort maps, MVMCP tickets, extra unsent postcards, receipts (hey, the long ones from charging to the room are memory intensive!), newsletters, itineraries, programs, boarding passes... Okay, maybe not boarding passes, but it always seems like we come back from vacation with a pound of paper to transfer to the latest scrap heap...

:hiding: <-- MissB peeking out from behind a large number of shoeboxes full of memories!

I am definately not a pack rat. If I am not going to put it to use in the next year, I pitch it. That said, when I come home from vacation all the tickets and paper items go to the trash. I keep my memories in all the pictures I take.

There is one exception, I've started a memory box with Tyler and put his hospital bracelet, crib card, and birth momentos in there. But for WDW and other trips I'll rely on pictures. I like the nice clean look with no piles of anything out of place.

Hugs,
Carrie

Somewhere I have a old Disneyland ticket book - signed by the Mouse himself. I believe all the tickets are out of it. So yes I do save my tickets and other Disney stuff.

After watching the TLC show on cleaning things out - I need to gather that stuff and either display it or get rid of it. I really like what the designers say about honoring things you cherish instead of just keeping them buried in all the junk!

I keep all of my trip planning information - flight details, towncar info, hotel confirmation, daily itinerary, lists of addresses of who is getting postcards, postcard stamps, packing lists, priority seating times and confirmation numbers etc. in a clear mapia pocket folder that travels with me to the World. Once I am there EVERYTHING else goes into that folder and sometimes overflows into a Disney bag. I keep clean unused copies of all 4 park maps and the park hours/entertainment schedule as well as the map they give you of the resort when you check in that shows you where your room is. I keep old room keys, park passes, MVMVP tickets, e-night wristbands, restuarant menus, receipts from EVERY purchase even if its just a bottle of water (I mean it still has Mickey prinited on the back!), unused fast passes, stickers that CMs occassionally give out in the parks, fancy swizzle sticks from cocktails at the Tambu Lounge at the Poly, and sometimes even wrappers from candies from Goofy's Candy Company and the bags from every purchase. Other than the bags - which I use through to carry lunches to work and other misc.uses, I have everything from all WDW since 2000 and Disneyland trips since 1997. (Wasn't so addicted - or anal for 1st 2 DL trips so I don't have much from them other than some pics.) I buy a WDW photo album for each trip and all the pics are in there, all new pin purchases go on my Mouse Ears (I also keep all the cards that the pins come on when you purchase them) and all the other papers go into the planning folder and put in a big plastic storage bin under the bed in the extra bedroom. To most people its a pile of junk but to me its memories. All that paper has been helpful in planning future trips too - I use the maps to plot out my days and receipts to get a rough cost estimate for how much moolah to bring with me. Plus, its just fun to sift through it from time to time.

I'll admit while we are on vacation, I collect anything I can. But once we get home, it goes into a bag until I am ready to scrapbook. Then I weed through it. Sometimes I save things so that if anyone on the board needs anything I can mail it to them, sometimes I use it for our scrapbooks, and other things I just toss out.

I find the older I get, the less clutter I like. I am known to go through the house 4 times a year with hefty bags and do major cleaning out. It makes me feel like I am more organized.

I also have my paper pass with my digital picture on it. We kept it because it was the very first time I ever got to sign my new married name!! And I had never practised it before so it doesn't look anything like it does now!
As for all the other stuff, my DH is the world's worst pack rat. He has his original e-tickets and maps and brochures from every vacation he has ever taken. Every once in awhile when he is out of the house I have to go through and throw out some stuff so the mountain turns back into a hill!

However, my favorite pass is the original ticket books with the A - E tickets. I still have both Junior and Adult versions, although none completely full.

I had tons of those books with alot of the A 's and B's tickets ..seems we never used them. And I also had several tickets good for any rides ..my dad used to do some contracting work for disney and he gave them to me. When they change their pricing I threw it all out. What a dumbo!!

A neat thing to do with all the souvenier papers, tix, maps, etc. Is gather what you really like together, and take it to a picture framer and ask him to make a shadow box for you with all the Disney items.
I have done this with Monopoly's Gold Limited edition game, Sorry, and Scrabble for the game room as well.
The shadow box can be as big or small as you like. Throw in a couple of 3-D items like a key chain, favorite T shirt, mug etc.
It will cost a hundred dollars or more, but, look at what you will have to hang up on the family room wall!!! :creator: :dazzle:
