Christmas in Disney – Day 3
Monday 12/15
Donald’s Breakfastosaurus & Coral Reef
Early entry day for Animal Kingdom & again still don’t make it in time for park opening! I’m never going to see those ceremonies! :) But this is absolutely the best time of year to go – everything in the park was walk on – hardly no waits at all. 1st on the agenda is Kilimanjaro Safaris. We’ve been on this before but it was in the afternoon during the summer so a lot of the animals weren’t out. Believe all the posts – do this 1st thing in the morning – there were lots of animals out enjoying the cool morning air. We even actually saw Big Red! Our tour guide had to change the story a bit to accommodate that we saw Big Red & Little Red b4 the soundtrack got to the point they spotted them in the helicopter! Kaela was hungry after the safari but our PS wasn’t until 10:20a so we stopped @ Tusker House for a quick bite to tide her over. They have some great bakery selections, only complaint is that the hot chocolate was served WAY too hot. It took forever for it to cool off, in the future I’ll ask for a cube of ice in it to speed things up. Next stop on our AK tour was It’s Tough to be a Bug, we zipped thru the Tree of Life & joined the throng inside the queue area. I think this was the only wait we had all day. Get inside the theatre & Kaela remembers this from last year – she absolutely hates this show, but I can see why – it can be intense for kids. She was on the floor in front of me during the whole thing, remembering the surprise @ the end. :hiding: Since there was no wait at KS or IT2BB we still have time for one more ride b4 breakfast so off we go to Dinosaur. She didn’t like this ride either due to the darkness & strobe lights, but it was fun – a lot of rocking & bumping though! Jump off Dinosaur & head over to Donald’s Breakfastosaurus. Get herded to the obligatory picture & about a minute wait to be seated. This was probably the best breakfast during our whole stay – they have an omelet station & Krispy Kreme doughnuts! :eat: After breakfast head over to DinoLand & ride TriceraTops spin a couple of times, she was deemed too short for Primeval Whirl but they gave her a certificate saying she could come back when she was tall enough. I wonder if that will serve as a Front of Line pass the next time we go… Still too early for the Tarzan Rocks show so head over to the Bone Yard for a while. Those rope ladders are no joke – but I wasn’t about to let her go up there by herself! Was happy to see that it was fine rocks in the dig site & not sand, that would have been a mess. Finally time for the shows to start so we head over to Tarzan Rocks, but still a bit of a wait in the stadium. I’ve read that this was an uncovered event – I couldn’t even imagine sitting in the sun w/ no air conditioning. The show was better than expected, fast paced & keeps you watching. It’s over b4 you know it! Had planned on going to Tusker House to try the AK Meal Plan & rotisserie chicken but we were still stuffed from the late breakfast. So we head over to Festival of the Lion King. I think this is the best show that we saw the whole trip. Full of color & pageantry! :joyDance: After FotLK we head over to see Pocahontas & her Forest Friends. After Tarzan & FofLK I was expecting a big production but the kids enjoyed it, especially w/ the live animals used during the show. We don’t have anything else that we want to do in AK so we head back to ASMo for lunch & a rest b4 we go to Epcot. After our nap I notice Kaela seems a little more tired than usual so we just hang out in the room until it’s time for dinner. Since its sort of late now I scrap plans for Coral Reef & head over to MK to grab a quick bite & see Wishes, my only chance to see it for the week due to MVMCP. Since MK closed at 7p I decide to head over to Epcot to see Illuminations also. We ride the ferry to the T&TC & hop on the monorail. This is our 1st time actually inside Epcot. This place is HUGE! Finally figure out how to get over to World Showcase & since we still have some time b4 the show I find the Boulangerie Patisserie that everyone has recommended. I try the Napoleon, get a hot chocolate & find a table right outside w/ a great view of the World Showcase Lagoon. Thanks for the great tip everybody! :gossip: Illuminations was spectacular. Definitely a must do every trip! Kaela is dead to the world during the whole show, I couldn’t believe she slept thru all those fireworks! :deepSleep: After the show get mixed up in the crowd & find out I’m heading to the International Gateway, not the front of the park – my feet are about to fall off by time we finally reach the bus area! Bus finally pulls up & we head back to the hotel. When we get to the room & putting on pajamas I realize Kaela feels a little hot. I brought some Tylenol Cold for a cough she had before we left home so I gave her some of that hoping the miniscule amount of Acetaminophen will knock it out overnight. Well, during the night she wakes up w/ a horrific coughing spell & she’s really hot now. I call the front desk to see if they have a thermometer so I could see exactly what I was dealing w/. :help: No thermometer at the front desk, they ask if I want to call the ambulance. I decline, it’s not that serious I don’t think. A shop CM has arrived to get ready for the day & she lets me in to purchase a thermometer b4 opening. All they offer is the kind you lay on the forehead for a surface reading, but it’s all I can get. & no Motrin or plain Tylenol either, I knew alternating them would break the fever fast. Her temp reads 102° so I don’t panic too bad & she isn’t coughing anymore. After a few cold compresses & some more Tylenol cold her fever is down to 99° & we finally get back to sleep around 6a & luckily no breakfast PS to have to cancel for the next day.
