at my bil's wedding sat i took some pictures. when i viewed them on my camera, some of them were missing & i kept getting a message that there was no room on the memory card. there was definitely space & every once in a while i'd view the pictures again & the ones that were missing were back. long story short, those pictures are not on the card again. would this most likely be a memory card problem or a camera problem? i'm afraid i've lost the pictures forver. thanks in advance!

how old is the memory card? what brand? Have you been deleting the pictures one by one or have you ocassionally format/initialized the card?

You need photo retrieval software to find the photos on your memory card. A few of the card manufacturers actually have the software on the cards themselves. Generally they are the professional cards by Lexar and SanDisk. You can go online and download the software from Lexar and other companies. Ritz Camera stores sell software as well for about $60.
What happens is if you are deleting your photos one by one or even a bunch at a time without formatting the card, a memory of the photos still remains. Think of it this way...you write on a chalk board and then wipe off the board with an eraser. Some chalk still remains until you wash the board. That's what's happening with your card more than likely. It's basically corrupt at this point.
It happens to lots of people because they are unaware that the card needs to be formatted in order to wipe it clean.

If you haven't reformatted the card yet, you may have some luck retrieving the data on the card. This happened to me once. I used photorescue from www.datarescue.com (http://www.datarescue.com)
Good luck!
