Hi folks. I know it's quite different at DL than WDW but I've seen blurbs in my net wanderings that some places now take ressies for meals at DL, I thought I saw one that said you can make them for a couple of places ahead of time, as opposed to same day (I know Blue Bayou was/is still(?) a same day in person type) What's the skinny? Where does one go to find this info out? I've not seen much anywhere that is recently updated.
Also, Fantasmic. I know about the dessert buffet and it's yummy. It's on our list, but I also read somewhere (just can't find where it was) that there is a option on the landing by Tom Sawyer's Island as well. As I recall there is a meal involved in that one. True? Worth the effort to try to do? View good? How does one find out more about it? Also read that i might be possible to reserve the balcony seats before the day now. True? Ed is willing to do the up early early thing again, but I'd love to have it handled before if possible.
Thanks so much for any info.

I have never been part of the reservation process but I have seen the peope who had something to eat near Tom Sawyers Island. We sat right next to where they sat and we did it for free. I saw them with a box of some sort, not sur eif it was food or dessert. Personally I think if you dont care to stake out a place to sit it would be an ok option but $50 a head seems like a lot of souveneers to me. If you have disposable money it would be nice to not sit an hour and a half early just to stake out a good seat.

Having been toying with the idea of a DL trip for about 2 months now I have been doign some research on these things myself. (Just decided 3 hours ago that we ARE going & I am booking it on Monday!) What I have learned from various sites is that there are now 2 levels of the Fantasmic package.
level 1: $42 per person and you get a box of dessert items and a drink and are on a lower level.
level 2: $47 per person for a dessert buffet and unlimited beverages on the second floor balcony of the Disney Gallery.
You can make reservations (I am pretty sure you pay the whole thing in advance) 30 days in advance. Additionally, the Blue Bayou and many other sit down restaurants at DL now also take PS but I get conflicting information about if its 60 days out or 30 days out. I have also heard that their 60/30 days out are not numerical days like WDW but go by the month - re: If you want PS on June 30, you'd call on May 30.
I have gotten all this info from various websites (mouseplanet, laughing place.com & the Disneyland website) You may want to call Disney dining to confirm --

I wanted to let you know about my Blue Bayou in December. It was the second week of December and we tried to get in for any meal the 4 days we was there and it was a no go. Fully booked up!!
We also tried to get into the character breakfast at Paradise pier and it would have been a 2 hour wait and this is for 2 people. I would make reservations at what ever restaurant you have your heart set on going to if they take them. We did walk into a restaurant at the Disney hotel and o advance reservatons and was seated pretty fast. Also we ate at Rainforest a few times too in downtown disney. We also found a little walk up type counter in downtown disney with bakery type foods and fast breakfasts (Kind of liek a breakfast you can get at McDonalds anywhere in the country.)

Thanks for the info Barb,
I'm trying to coax hubby into something more firm than 'yeah I wanna try and eat there' so I can nail a couple down. Blue Bayou is definately on the list. I just know Nate will love it. I'm not sure how much more structured we'll get beyond that though. We know it'll be busy while we're there but we're discovering that the pressure to be somewhere at a certain time, even if it's for food lol, is a pressure we don't really want on vacation. There will be some of that on the remainder of the trip as we'll be visiting family and will have to adapt to their schedules somewhat. The DL portion is OUR time lol.

Hi Lor,
I am not sure about the call ahead thingy for ressies, but I can tell you what we did when we went out to see the West Coast Mickey.
We ate at Goofy's Kitchen for breakfast at DL Hotel. It was FANTASTIC. It is somewhat expensive for a breakfast, but IMHO it is well worth it. Everything from fruit, to cooked to order breakfast items, to steak and meats, to goodies too. You cannot go wrong. The first time we did it we saw 8 characters come by: White Rabbit, Alice, Mad Hatter, Jasmine and Aladdin, Donald, Goofy and someone else I cannot remember off hand.
The 2nd time we went it was Sue (PT) and I and it was the same terrific meal with less characters, but that didn't phase us. We still love it. I am going to call on Monday to make some reservations for this breakfast when we are there at the end of this month.
FYI, if you go to DL Park you can make day-off PS at City Hall for Blue Bayou. It is not a well published fact, but I have done it -- once. I am fairly sure you can still do that.
Hope any of this helps you.

Way kewl! Thanks Kelli,
I've been doing the debate on Goofy's Kitchen as we've always enjoyed character breakfasts at WDW and I have no doubt we'd enjoy it at DL as well. Just gotta talk the guys into it.
I've also been reading that the breakfast in the park vouchers we'll be getting with our passes (Passport Plus via AAA) can be used pretty much anywhere, though except for the places officially listed, they will be worth 8.75 each. So that might be an option for the day we use those.
The info on Blue Bayou is good to know too. I plan to call this week and try to make a ressie. If I get put off on that I'll try a few more times till we go and if that still doesn't work I'll give your hint a try when we get there.
Odds are it'll be a bit strange in that area of the park due to the Pirate's Premiere party on the 28th. I've been reading that there will be some construction projects that have to be dismantled so that Fantasmic can be reset. I believe I remember reading that Fantasmic will be back on July 2.
I sure hope so as that's our final night in the area and we really want to see it again.
Thanks again for the hints!

Just letting you know as requested Barb,
Yes, you can reserve Blue Bayou ahead of time. Got mine for lunch for a a day while we're there (in case someone would like to try the Monte Cristo which is only served at lunch I understand) just last night.
Fantasmic balcony can also be reserved ahead and yes they get all your card info but you still need to have that card and a drivers' license when you pick up your tickets at Guest Services the day of your ressie. I was told that it is best to reserve this ahead now as they sell out nearly every night. I know I'd hate to get up early and make sure I was there to get same day ressies and find out it was sold out early myself.

Just read this on Mouseplanet that you can get reservations at Funtasmic dessert thing. They said to call this number is (714) 781-4400
It said 30 days in advance so hopefully it isnt sold out already. Its more than $40 a person too.

That's the number I used to get the Fantasmic ressie, Blue Bayou was (714) 781-DINE (3463)
Don't know which night you're looking to try for Fantasmic but it doesn't start up again until the 2nd. They have some construction to do and then take down again for that Pirate's Premiere Party on the 28th, so Fantasmic won't be showing.
This is based on my phone call and the schedule of hours that I got with my passes.
ETA: Yes it's not a cheap ticket by any means. 188 for the 4 of us. Dsorcerer, Ben and I have done it before and wanted to share it with Nate this trip. It sounds like a lot of money for a seat and desserts, and it is. But you don't have to sit for ages to hold a good viewing spot, this one is amazing. The treats are way yummy. The feeling is oh so special, and it's something that only a few people ever get to do. Sometimes ya just gotta splurge, ya know? The last time Dsorcerer gallantly got up and stood in line really early in the a.m. (way way before the park opened) to get the tickets so we could go. He was willing to do that again this trip till I stumbled on the early ressie info. But that's how kewl we thought it was.
Good luck with your phone call.

Well I did book and pay for Fantasmic, only to find out today that I have to cancel my trip. I hope DL is forgiving for emergency circumstances.. doubtful, but worth a try.
I was able to get every ressie for PS at (714)781-DINE without a problem. I just hope alot of people don't realize this and wait, so when we can reschedule, we can get what we wanted in the first place. :o

Hi LoriAnn
I've done Fantasmic both on the balcony and the water's edge seating..
I prefer the water's edge, it's more spread out and a wonderful view, right at the water's edge.. The balcony can be a bit crowded.
The desserts served are the same, with the exception that down below you get a nice box (think bootbox) of assorted desserts, some of each offered... up on the balcony you self serve from a dessert buffet that stops serving when Fantasmic starts, that includes coffee, tea or cold drinks. Down below you are also served your drinks and there are cast members milling about to attend to your needs.
I like being able to walk down about 20 min prior to the show and know that seats are being held for us in a roped off area, to me that convenience is worth the price.
Whatever you decide.. have a wonderful time.. Fantasmic at Disney Land is wonderful!

Sounds great Debbi...don't you have to spend 6 figures a year to get that perk?..., or can common folk go there too?...anyway we have been there before, have our ressies now, loved it then,
is that okay?
