We are planning a trip to the world in Oct 2004 which resort would be better Pop century or ALLStar Movies? It will be My hubby who has a very bad back (so the least amount of waits for the buses and walking distance are an issue wheather he will be in the wheelchair or not) and My 5 year old DD. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings Blondy!

While I can't answer your question about these resorts, I wanted to say welcome and mention that I have rented a scooter (ECV) twice to go to WDW and they are WONDERFUL! For a very reasonable daily or weekly rate, your husband could ride in comfort. I loved being so much more independent than a regular wheelchair would make me. If you'd like more information on rental firms, just ask!

Oh, ouch! I had sciatica last year (probably a disk problem but thankfully one that did not require surgery) so I know how much he's been hurting. And the year before, my husband ("Bernard") had back surgery for a cyst growing in his spine. He was indeed a new man after his surgery and I hope for the same outcome for your DH! Sending pixie dust...

Hi Blondy! Welcome :D

Well, having stayed at ASMo last fall, I know that the bus system is over-crowded and downright bad. I used to love that resort, and still enjoy the rooms and atmosphere - its the buses that killed it for me. Let me just say waiting at the park bus ports for a bus back to your hotel - fuggetaboudit... you'd be there all night. i swore last August they only had 1 bus running back and forth at park closing. It was 25 minutes between buses and with the queue that had formed, we waited almost an hour and a half in the pouring rain with no shelter as it was already packed with huddling people. Not a fun time for me - ditto on the back ailments, and esp for my 5 year old DD :(

The few reviews I have read report that the bus lines at PC resort are much better organized with ropes and what-not so there is no pushing and line cutting - which gets very annoying after a while. PC is a very large resort so I don't kow if the buses make several stops, but the AS's share a bus system, so there probably won't be much of a difference either way. I am willing to try Pop Century at some point, but I don't think I'll be retuning to ASMo any time soon.

Sorry to hear about your DH - pixie dust for a speedy and full recovery

Blondy I am not sure there will be any real differences in the buses. I would hope Pop Century might be easier since they don't share with another resort while All Stars many times share. Belle is right there are queue lines at PC so that should help control the lines. At all of these resorts you can get the Preferred rate for $10.00 more per night that gives you a room in the buildings closest to Checkin, restaurant, & bus stops. Good luck & Pixie Dust to your husband.
