We are going to be staying for 4 nights at CSR and then switching to PC for 2 nights. So my question is this... would you have Disney move your luggage? Would you move it yourself? Would you have seperate luggage for each leg of the stay?
We will have a car. I just want the quickest move so it doesn't cut into my vacation time.
Thanks!
p.s. maybe I should have said "questionS"
We have let Disney move our luggage every time we have changed resorts, and never had a problem. We just packed up in the morning, gave it all to the bell staff, then went and checked into the new resort. We then went and played. When we returned from playing all day, we called the bell staff at the new resort and had them deliver the bags. No break in the action, no lost day, and very convenient.
JMHO here, your mileage may vary.....

Cheri, Disney transfering the luggage is pretty much no fuss. Just drop it off at Bell Services early in the morning and it generally gets to the next resort around 2 PM. PC's Bell services will deliver it to your room when it's assigned ad you don't have to be in the room to receive it. Just go out & enjoy disney that day :)

Can it be transfered from POR to Doplhin or is Dolphin out of the loop? We asked when making our res. at POR (on the Phone) and hte gentleman on the phone told Dh he had never heard of disney transfering luggage to one hotel from another. I was confussed.. Told DH we would inquire at checkin..

We have had our luggage transferred and ran into one slight problem. We spent the morning at the parks and planned on heading back to the resort after lunch to swim before heading back to the parks after dinner. Unfortunately, our luggage was not delivered to the resort until after 5:00. I think it was only a problem because we did plan on swimming that afternoon. The next time I would rearrange our schedule differently keeping this in mind.
I did pack my suitcases seperately. I had two bags for the second resort which were never opened until we arrived there. I sorted out our clothing, etc. while packing to elminate the need to unpack everything and repack. It was a huge timesaver to do it ahead of time if possible.

All Star Music did a transfer to the Dolphin for a member in my group. I don't see why POR couldn't too. Try calling POR and ask for Bell Services the CM at the front desk you spoke with prolly doesn't know all the ins & outs like one of the Bell service CM's do.

DisneyBuff: Transferring to the Dolphin or Swan can sometimes be an individual resort call. My good friend stayed at an All Stars and was told that they do not do luggage transfers to the Dolphis/Swan since they are not Disney resorts. She made a few calls, and they "relented" though her luggage didn't arrive until early evening.
This could have been just a case of a CM having a bad (ran out of pixie dust) day. However, I would call the resort ahead of time just to see - then you can at least say that you were told by so-and-so that they would transfer the luggage. ;)

Cheri,
Maybe its just me, but I like to know where my belongings are. We have moved our luggage ourselves so far when we've done this, and it has not been hard. The first time we had a rental car, so we packed up the bags, had them put in the car and drove to the next resort, where Bell services then took care of it.
Last year, we did not have a car, so we did the same thing, but took a cab. To me the money was well worth it. Even though we lock our bags, I worry about losing my medications and insulin pump supplies, which I cannot go without. SO for my own peace of mind, we move our stuff with us. I know others have had the luggage transferred without any problems but for me it's one less thing to worry about.

I agree with Sheryl on this one. I like to know where my stuff is & I like to be able to have access to it when I want it. We simply load the luggage into the car & if the room is ready at our new resort when we check in great. If room is not ready luggage stays in car until it is. I guess this is just a personal preference.

What would I do? Hmmm, well the one time we transferred resorts, I discovered that my dear Bernard was just like Sheryl and Margaret--wanted to do it himself anyway.
For me it would depend on whether I was going to spend the day at the parks or if I were checking into the other hotel right away. One thing I would NOT do is leave my luggage in my hot car all day! :P

LGC,
I've only done this once and it was during my trip last month. I let Disney handle the bags and everything went fine. The bags were actually there earlier than I had expected. However, I had thrown a few can't live without items in my day pack just to be on the safe side. I guess my feeling is that I definitely trust Disney bell service more than I do the airlines. So anything I'd feel comfortable checking at the airport, I feel comfortable letting Disney move for me.
