I'm just posting this in here cuz I figure it would be the scrappers putting this together. We should discuss it first to see if it's even do-able.
If we do a MouseFest scrapbook meet, given the very busy schedule we all already have and the issues we could have with shipping/travelling with stuff, we would have to plan it well. Here's some brain dumps from me. I would love for anyone to add their comments or ideas in this thread. Let's see what we can come up with!
1) Make it a 1 to 1.5 hr meet on a light day, like Sunday? Would probably have to be at a resort.
2) Plan something simple to make, easy to make for all, with premade stuff etc.
3) Make the item Disney/MouseFest related, but have some variety in it so attendees have a choice
4) Perhaps make it a group effort - we get a design together, then we each volunteer to bring one thing (eg pre-cut cardstock, punchies maybe already run thru a xyron, pens or maybe tags that have already been printed, photo splits, adhesive etc.) or maybe ship the items to one or two people to bring with them
5) Get together before the meet to put everything into "kits". Each attendees gets a kit (if not sent to one person beforehand)
6) Find other ways to make it fun
Ummmm, what do you think???? :D

1 - 1.5 hours is not really worth the hassle of lugging many tools for BUT I see a few ways it could work, even if you only bring carryons (no scissors).
Idea 1:
Say you have 6 people. Each participant makes a card sample, and 6 kits each containing all the materials, precut, punched, stamped whatever to make the card.
For the gathering, each participant brings her sample, her card kits, a glue stick or double sided tape or tabs. Each teaches her card assembly in turns.Idea 2:
Say you want to come away with a mousefest scrapbook to hold your photos and you have 12 people
Decide on an album size / format for example a 7x7 cm album, or a 6x6 postbound.
Each person picks a (different) commonly attended event and makes a page for that event - 12 times - leaving space for the photo. Really, with that small size, there's only room for a title, photomat or journaling block and maybe a small embellishment. The 6x6 is obviously the thriftier choice, since 4 pages can be gotten from 1-12 x12 piece of paper.
For the meet, you all get together and exchange pages - so each person has 12 different pages already for photos. (No tools required except adhesive for cm albums, but you might want to bring your albums to put the pages in.)Idea 3 is a variation of idea 2
Each participant choses an event (if Mousefest is chosen as the theme) and creates a title, border, tag and/or embellishments (or some combination thereof) and makes the proper number for the number of participants.
The meet is - everyone swaps and has the stuff already for whatever size pages they choose when they get home. (No tools required.)Makes me wish I could go :(

Ah, see, exactly what I was hoping for - we are thinking in different directions.
I was thinking a few people host a meet and a lot of non-scrappers sign up to come just to try and make something. (eg we plan out one page and let anyone make it.) Perhaps a page to fit in a 10x8 frame, so they can take a photo - like the BatB photo - and frame it up for a wall. Or maybe a 12x12 page - they have special frames to put them in. Or yes, maybe a card or 2 or three that a photo could be placed into.
And your mind is going to a meet of just scrappers that share pages, ideas etc - like a circle journal except all in one place.....
There's so much that we could do with this.
I agree, a short amount of time isn't enough to drag tools. But I think a 4 hr scrap meet would just be too darn long.
Of course, we could always do it during kareoke and see what interesting stuff turns up........LOLOL
OK, keep those ideas rolling.......

I know that last year there was a scrapbook meet right before the mega meet at Mousefest. I like the idea of making the same page multiple times and exchanging them. They could be about a specific attraction (i.e. Pirates, Mission Space, or Teacups) or area (i.e. MK Castle, EPCOT's Spaceship Earth, or Tree of Life at AK), or mousefest event. We would add our photos later at home. We would just come up with a list of page ideas for an agreed upon album size, then everyone would sign up for which page/pages they would bring.

The meet last year was sponsored by MouseEarsVacations. They had a lot of supplies (a lot.......I went to the one they had on the cruise) but you just did your own thing. One of the organizers was my agent and I know she spent a lot of time preparing stuff for the meet, something I know I don't have time to do myself. Plus it was a huge amount of stuff to lug down there and back.

I like the idea of having a meet and doing a tag...something simple but something that we can all get together and have fun with. Possibly we could each plan to bring a type of "theme" or something - and have a few different themes available to those who scrapbook and those who don't. I do a lot of make and takes at Archivers, and they usually - unless they are demonstrating a specific tool - have things all cut and waiting for you. The trick is knowing how many people to expect and then designing something that would not involve a lot of tools - just some glue stick and brads.
Tags are just fun to have and anyone can use them - even for luggage tags after they are laminated. We could use things like buttons and ribbon to decorate the tags that are cheaper and easy to pack.
Anyway, I'm in, Nancy, if we find a good time to fit it into the schedule.

I am so glad you asked this question. I am thinking of taking a pre-set scrape book on the cruise this summer. A group of crazy cruisers or ship of fools as they are known are going to do a meet or two on board to do some scraping.
I was thinking of having the book laid out - with places for some of the 5x7 pictures they take on the ship - a couple of character shots, and such then maybe a 8 x 12 places for pictures and of course some place pictures could be added later on. I think it would be great place to do some journaling while on board.
I think something like that could be done at MF and was thinking if it worked on the ship then maybe it would work at MF.
I am willing to come to a meet at MF

Just wondering if there is a sb meet sponsored by someone at MF this year, do we participate in that or do our own? I am thinking that space may be an issue unless we can make arrangements somewhere for a room, but that will cost $$.

A scrapbook meet probably could be easily done in free space - a few tables in a food court, a lounge during off peak hours, or the community space in one of the DVC's for example. The harder trick will be finding the time to fit it in.
Betsy, GREAT idea to premake your pages in advance - you might want to check the photo sizes, though - I seem to remember they're 6x8 rather than 5x7 - it would make a difference if you're adhereing a mat in place to put the photo on. Also, of course, they sell scrapbooks and paper kits on the ship . . .

Hey, maybe we could post our favorite WDW scrapbook pages somewhere? It would give us all inspriation and terrific ideas!! Sorry it's OT, but I didn't really want to start a new thread about this if there was no interest....

We could post them to our personal gallerys and then post them to a thread on the hobby board. I mostly scrap 12x12 though and my scanner is 8 1/2 by 11, so stitching is always involved, though :(

One of the things that I always thought would be fun would be to do a Scrapbook exhange for the mousefest trip. Basically how my idea would work would be for people to sign up, and depending on how many people signed up, each person makes a page each person in the exchange (so if you have six people in the exchange, you would have to make six pages). It would be up to the person making it if they want to make the same page for each, or if they want to make a different page for each.
I just think it would be fun to have pages from different people, and having a different perspective of the same week from different a different person.
