I did enjoy the Orange Stinger because 1) Never had to wait for it 2) Nice to go on after the Ferris Wheel. I never thought a Ferris Wheel would be scarey :yowsa: but when you are at the top and your car slides all the way to the end and you look over the water and feel like the car can let loose..... ( I really like roller coasters and the thrill they offer, but that sliding car gets to me everytime :yikes:) 3) It was kind of fun - reminded me of when you were a kid and you were on a swing and would go real high. Only this time you stayed up high and were going in circles.

Wonder what they will put in its place:confused:

Disneyland is try to get bigger attendance, so they are doing some change.

Disney would like it to be about 20 thousand or more each day and weekends.

20,000 per day? Ouch!

It was relatively crowded at DL when I was there (start of the 50th celebration) and I don't think I would have liked more crowds. Maybe if they inproved viewing for Fantasmic and the fireworks it wouldn't be so bad. What made it worse, was CA closed first, so everyone with APs and Hoppers crammed into DL at the end of the night too.

Paradise Pier had a nice look, but not very Disney. While I think coaster fans will forgive just about anything for a good coaster, the rest of the stuff like the Stinger are just off the shelf generic rides. I remember friends riding the 'swings' at Six Flags Great Adventure in the late 70's.

Midway Mania is the kind of unique Disney ride they need more of. Even It's a Bug's Land (?) which is basically standard kiddie rides, is themed so well they don't seem generic. They should have added something like this to AK instead of the Hester and Chester area which is so out of place.

 bye bye Orange Stinger. I loved that ride. I'd fly around in circles doing my Peter Pan impressions to the delight of my friends, CMs and anyone paying attention then I'd stumble off. :D

Why this ride was cool

1) It's a giant orange! Neato

2) The waits were never bad, seemed like at most you just had to wait for one complete go. Sometimes you could go immediately back on it. The ride itself doesn't take very long either.

3) It is fun and quick enough to do twice (or more?) times in a row

4) Feeling like you're flying, with wind in your hair, but it's just not that scary.

5) You can easily see lots of your friends on the same ride, waving and making faces etc..

6) Those bee sounds. What a crackup.

Goodness... How could I foget about the bee sounds:eek: They did make you laugh:lol: It was a bit of a landmark. It will seem odd not to have a gigantic orange there any longer. When we had a room in Paradise Pier facing the park you could look out and see California Screaming, the Ferris Wheel and the Orange Stinger...

I may have news on this. I was checking the schedule for my weekend trip to disneyland March 8 to the 10th and it said the stinger is under refurbisment until March 8. Maybe they are just rehabing it? Ill know soon enough since Im going then. Ill report back after I get home. They list it as the only thing down for march 8 but then March 9 and 10 it says none.

Now if they would just add Electric parade next weekend to the schedule Id be set :-)

AKDisney is there anything else closed right now? Maybe the rehab on the disney site is incorrect? Kind of sounds like its being disassembled if the floor is gone.
I am going in a week and a half.

Im really hoping to ride the California Screaming. I personally dont care if the orange stinger is closed or not because its a ride with a weight restriction so my husband wont ride it with me. The only ride Ill do alone with out him is the maliboomer. I love that ride and he fears it.
