If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why? Expense is not a deterrent, you can pick any destination, and do anything you want--the choice is yours--and you can pick several destinations. One destination per post please, to keep the thread going.

So tell us, what would you do and where would you go, and why????

Edinbourough (Sp?) Scotland Beautiful scenery in and around town, very historic. I'd try to go there when the military Tattoo show was running at the castle there

Japan definitely. I've been there once but would love to go back and not even have to go to Disney Sea. But if I could include that, too, so much the better.

Used to be Australia but now I think I would lean more towards a tour of Europe. London would be my #1 draw.

After spending 10 days in Paris last fall, I can say with certainty that I NEED to go back there. As soon as possible!!

A photo safari in Africa. Ngoronogo Crater, Masei Mara, Serengeti - magical names - wild places - I can't even spell. I want to see the animals and hear the drums in lands with real dirt and living baobob trees. I dream of Africa.

China - not the big cities but in the out of the way places. Was all signed up to do that when I was in college and the trip was cancelled. Maybe some day!

And Hawaii - my 50th of 50 states - that will be happening in 2008 or 2009! Anyone want to cruise to and from Hawaii? :D

Thank goodness you said we could pick several destinations!

County Cork, Ireland! It's where my father's family came from. It's such beautiful country that I would like to see it just for that. But also that sense of history, that I would be standing where the people of my family once stood.

Like Ursulinda said, I'd love to do a photo safari in Africa.

Calabria, Italy. One side of my husband's family came from Ireland, but the other half came from Calabria.

YES! (Jean, from YMJ has had some great deals on Hawaii in the past - maybe she will again)

Estella, Spain: I have a good friend who lives there. She's always offered to take me around. We'd have so much fun!

I'm lumping these in one:

Colorado Rockies - I did a camping trip there. Stars so large and bright, you swore you could reach up and touch them. We played lazer tag; I tried to be Princess Leia and jumped over a rock to avoid capture. Unfortunately, I didn't check the ground behind the rock - it sloped down the mountain. They said you could hear me rolling for miles! :D

Then I'd head for Oregon. Have another great friend there and they have some beautiful forests. Plus, my brother is on the border and I could see him.

I can think of a dozen other places (Savannah, Australia, go back to Boston....), but I'll end with a great one:

Tour every Disney park in the world! And since money is no object, I'll bring back souvenirs for everyone here at Tagrel!

I want to see the animals and hear the drums in lands with real dirt

Linda--

Drums, dirt--hmmmmmm. Could I interest you in a safari to New Orleans, because your trip sounds just like a stay at my house? I'd even let you hunt dust bunnies and keep trophies of whatever you find under the boys' beds. We could throw in a trombone, a bass, a guitar, and a dancing girl--so there's the entertainment committee. And after that, a long stroll down Bourbon Street with many stops at several bars would be in order.

:D

I'd also go to Ireland.:bounce: I just want to see where my ancestors came from and see the beauty of the land.

I would also go to Las Vegas, but I guess most of you already knew that!;)

There are other places besides DW? Really?

Well, I have always wanted to go to Australia and Alaska but that's not happening with DH dead set against flying or taking a cruise. Australia always interested me.

In the USA, I always wanted to drive down Rt. 1 along Monterey and see the water on the "wrong" side of the road (I'm from the east coast). I still enjoy New England in the Fall and would go there in a minute.

I would pick Australia first, but then I would like to visit all the little out of the way places that make the Good Ol" USA a Great place to live.

The safari in Africa sounds good too. That would be awesome.

If I was going by myself or with some of the guys, definatley ALASKA fishing!! I have been four times and have had a total blast each time. Fishing is great and the scenery is amazing up there!!

With the family I would have to say Hawaii. My wife has been many times but I have never been. I would really like to take PM and PMM on a nice one or two week trip over there.

Spain : Barcelona, Madrid and more. It's beautiful, they take things slowly, they nap during the day, and I think they truly enjoy time as it is.

More than anywhere I'd like to go back again to a place in Greece called Mount Athos.
It's a peninsula with many very old Christian monasteries, only accessable by ferry with a special permit.

These are not empty buildings, but a thriving community living as they had over a thousand years ago.
I hiked from place to place, alone or with new friends, never sure where I'd end up each day.
After ten days in two trips, I've seen less than a third of it.
Very moving experience for me.

My current "dream" vacation is to see Bavaria, Austria, and Italy. Four years ago, BK (before kids), DH and I went to France and Germany. We drove through Bavaria and a smidgen into Austria one afternoon. What gorgeous country. I kept expecting to see Julie Andrews burst into song on a hillside. As soon as the kids are either old enough to leave with the grandparents or are old enough to tag along, then I hope to go. But budget constraints will probably delay until I go back to work full time.

I have a dream to take my youngest son to England and Italy during the Summer between his jr and sr years of college. It may result in no Disney for Mom for a year or so but it is one of dreams.:plane:

I consider myself a National Park groupie. I have been lucky enough to see Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Denali, Olympic,Everglades(wonder where I was going on that trip!).

I would love to see the Smokies. My brother who lives in MD, says they are beautiful. And to go to the Redwoods.

My dream trip is to do a roadtrip across America and see every National Park. Maybe when I retire.

I'd love to go to New Zealand.
After I saw the Lord of the Rings trilogy, it's been #1 on my list.
I'd do horse back riding, trekking along side those locations of LotR movies.

I would have to say Paris and other parts of France. Planned on going for my 20th wedding anniversary (airfare at the time was OUTRAGEOUS! Went to WDW instead) thought about going recently (after had a trip to Egypt on British Airways booked that feel through and thought the ticket was non-refundable)

Besides after visiting the Louvre, Arc de Triumphe, Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower and all; I would head over to Versailles,Fountainebleau and other castles - travel through the country side, enjoy some, cheese, bread and wine and eventually find my way to Disneyland Paris!:boyears:

I would like to revisit Denver, CO to show the kids the Rocky Mountains.....and I've been really missing New Orleans lately. Maybe someday, when I'm braver (if that ever happens)....I'd entertain the idea of visiting Greece or my BF's hometown of Rousse, Bulgaria.
