I know there is a small fridge in the studios, but how small? We need milk, milk, and more milk. Between my kids and hubby we go thru about 4 gallons a week. I know we won't need that much since we'll be eating out a lot, but what size container will the fridge hold?

We'd like to keep milk, juice boxes, and water cold. Maybe some sandwich meat too. Can someone tell me approx. what all you think would fit in these refrigerators?

How about other stuff? What's a good shopping list for a studio? Should we get paper plates, dishwashing liquid, soap?

Thanks!

I once saw a post where someone had pictures of the INSIDE of a Studio fridge, and I SEEM to remember it would be big enough to hold a gallon jug of milk. You can buy certain staples right in the BC store (milk, butter, snacks, etc.) but they are pricy (but cheaper than the restaurants!)

I'll see if I still have that link to the picture, but I'm not hopeful...

Be always buy LOTS of water - gallon jugs to refill bottles - or just a case of water bottles themselves save quite a bit! Snack foods for munching in the parks. (crackers, chip bags, etc are great for the kids) We also buy a big bag - like chex mix or some such and bring ziplock bags. That works great too.

Since you'll have the microwave, some Microwave popcorn is a good snack. If there isn't a toaster, then request one for toast/muffins/bagels in the morning. Then the basics - butter, jelly, Peanut butter. Bread for sandwiches and cold meat and any mayo or mustard, etc. Salt & pepper if desired. I believe there is a roll of papertowels in the room, along with a few (very few) paper plates and plastic silverware. I haven't stayed in a studio yet, so I'm not sure what all is there. Wait - the website...

Studios:
Wet bar, mini-refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, linens, and a start-up supply of bath soap, towels, shampoo, and coffee. Also included are tissues, paper towels, paper plates, plastic silverware, and dishwashing detergent.

I know you can request other items, including dishtowels and hangers, because we've done it several times! :) So it you need that toaster or can opener - don't be afraid to ask!

The refrigerator is an under the counter model. If you visualize the larger sized dorm fridge, you'll have an idea of what to expect.

Check in at DVC isn't until 4:00pm, so if you're arriving earlier, there's no guarantee that the room will be ready. (They can keep your perishables in a refrigerator until you have access to the room.)

I don't see a problem with fitting in a gallon of milk as well as the rest of what you're planning on bringing. It might mean some creative packing, but you should fit it in.

While you'll have a small startup pack of paper plates and plastic cutlery, you'll have real coffee mugs and glassware.

I hope that this helps. :D

Although the staples at Screen Door General Store are a bit pricey, I thought they actually compared pretty favorably with the Goodings at Crossroads. The Publix or Costco, on the other hand are considerably cheaper, but there is a big convenience factor shopping on site.

Forgot your last question. I think you should get paper plates and/or bowls, depending on what you plan on eating in the room. There is a very small supply of these in the room. There is, however, adequate dish detergent, etc.

This is perfect guys! Thanks for the help. :D Now I'm off to stick my shopping list in my Passporter pockets. I love those things!

Is the onsite store just right in the lobby? Sounds like it will be good if we run out of anything, or forget something.

The BC store is located right inside the walkway to the BCV building. We walked right by it every time we were coming from or going to BCV main building. The had a cooler with milk, soda, ice cream, frozen pizza - even eggs, cheese, bacon, etc. and several shelves full of convenience items. (snacks, poptarts, etc.)

It was great for those forgotten items.
