I need some brainstorming help please. I have a last minute trip planned for a soon to be 7 yr old boy's birthday. The whole trip is a surprise and since I just booked it this week I have no PS dining started.
Regarding food - He likes 1900 Park Fare and Garden Grille. He actually likes them better than Chef Mickey's and CP.
We will be at MK for his birthday but we'll return later to Epcot for Test Track. We are staying at BCV so no issue there. I was thinking of the Plaza Restaurant for lunch or return to BCV for lunch and then back to MK and eat dinner at 1900 Park? I also thought of Garden Grill icecream party. I know that the parks give birthday buttons (are they stickers or actual pins) for your birthday at Town Hall for MK - but I don't know where at the other parks. I was thinking it might be cool to hit all of the parks for his birthday - not for the rides but for his birthday sticker thing - is that feasible or crazy. We'll have a car. I also wanted to get balloons or something delivered or have for him first thing in the morning and to decorate his door. Yeah lots of ideas - not sure what is or is not feasible especially given the time  . Soooooo help!!!!

When we were checking into the WL for my sons 8th birthday, he mentioned it to the CM. On the day of his birthday, he opened the door to find a stuffed disney beanie baby with balloons and a card signed by Pluto for his birthday. This made his day. You could always call BCV and see if they do anything special for the kids birthday.

The birthday thingy is a button. I got one for my 4oth then that night I was in th consierge lounge and another visitor noticed it and told me one more happy birthday, then he asked about it since the next day was his daughters birthday and I told him how to get one. Then he said they was leaving the next day so I chose to give mine to him to give to her (She was back in teh room) I told him to tell her Mickey gave it to him in the hallway as a good bye birthday present.
I sure love the idea about presents prearranged to be in the room. What about a cake too? Im sure the hotel can help arrange this.
Have a magical trip!!

Then he said they was leaving the next day so I chose to give mine to him to give to her (She was back in teh room) I told him to tell her Mickey gave it to him in the hallway as a good bye birthday present. WOW! What an incredible example of a simple act of kindness, although hmmm I don't know how simple it was since it was for your 40th. That was very generous. I hope he appreciated it and I am sure you made her day!
On the day of his birthday, he opened the door to find a stuffed disney beanie baby with balloons and a card signed by Pluto for his birthday. My nephew would be blown away if this happened. I did plan to call BCV just to get a name of a place that does something like balloons etc. thank you for the feedback! Any feedback on food - lunch or dinner choices? Does anyone know how to get a cake?

You might want to pick up some disposable cameras for the kids to use to take pictures of the special day.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention this last night.(I was tired and not thinking straight :? ) That same trip in August 2002 we went with my sister's family. It was the first time for her children to be at WDW and we wanted it to be extra special. Our first five nights were at WL where we upgraded to concierge. There was a young man named Jerry who was wonderful to all of our kids. I am ot sure if it was my son mentioning at the front desk it was his birthday, or whether he mentioned it to Jerry. I was as surprised to see the birthday surprise the morning of his birthday as he was. But, I am sure if you ask where you are staying, they will mark it down for you.
We had planned to switch hotels on his actual birthday so we could experience the AKL. We had made plans with Cindy from Pixie Gifts to have a cake delivered (which came with paper plates, plastic silverware, and napkins) and gift bags for all four of the kids. She did a great job on the bags, where we had discussed with her how much we wanted to spend on the bags, and she gave us options of what she could put in them. I was very happy with Cindy's service and even had the chance to meet her at a meet at Beaches and Cream with Tagrel(Dave and his family) and TigH. My niece was turning five a few days after our return home, so my sister let her get a button at MK and she was thrilled that so many people wished her a Happy Birthday. We also went to Chef Mickeys on our first night that trip (and celebrated Nick and Haley's birthdays) to which the kids absolutely loved.
Last year we were at Disney for my birthday and we went to dinner at 1900 Park Fare. It was one of our favorite meals and my boys (9 and almost 12) really enjoyed the chatracter action with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Suzy and Perla. I kind of talked them into it saying this is where I wanted to eat my Birthday dinner, and they really loved it.
Another place they really enjoyed was O'Hana's. I was surprised to see my oldest son who is very shy, ask to go do the coconut race, hulahoop games, and he had a blast. There were also two people who celebrateing their birthdays that night, and everyone sang to them. My younger son is a picky eater, and wanted to order off the kids menu instead of eating the normal meal there. The gentleman who seated us, made a bet with Nick, saying if he tried the food the rest of his family was ordering and enjoyed it, he would give him a bag of gummyworms. If he did not like it, then they would get him a kids meal right away. Nick decided he wanted the gummy worms and would try. He ended up loving the food (which made Mom and Dad happy), and he also got a huge bag of gummy worms. Fun was had by all.
I'll see what else I can remember.

Birthday Buttons are given out at the Guest Services desk at each park. All the parks (except MGM) have different buttons. We had birthdays 3 of the 4 days we were in the parks with the GS last June and the girls loved the attention the buttons got them.

Thank you so much for all of the information on the buttons and ideas. I had not thought of Disposible cameras for the kids for the day. I bring my digital, and we have given them disposible ones in the past but for his birthday would be a hoot to see their focus. Sheryl I really appreciate all of your insight - Pixie Gifts - do they have a website? Okay I guess I better start getting this thing planned!

We ended up at 1900 for birthday dinner and the next day Cape May for breakfast. We got our Beaver Tales (phew)(I don't even recall which night) which would have been a disappointment had that not occured. We ate at Columbia Harbour House for the first time for early lunch- I can not believe that I have never been in there. What a nice restful stop! Of course we were freezing that day so hot chocolate was the order of the day. The birthday pins were a HUGE hit - we got them all and he still is excited about them.

If you get to MGM with a button on be sure to walk down to Celebrity 5 and 10 (I think that's the name) ladies in this shop really go all out for birthdays- they call for Goofy Birthdya message for you and also have a song they sing (with instrumentation??) be sure to have someone in the group start singing early- they will probably have to stand inthe corner (so pick someone you son would enjoy seeing do that (you??)). Even my high school girls thought this was a great adventure.
