I collect miniature Rocking horses. I have been collecting for more than 17 years. I have over 200 of them. My most favorite one is hand carved by my husband.

I also have a full room devoted to Disney specifically Mickey and Minnie mouse and Tigger (My husbands collection) When my kids moved out of the house I started to covert their old rooms into our play room. :minnie:  :minnie:

hi BarbD,

I collect dust. I'm unusually successful at it.

I'd love to see photos of your Disney room and your rocking horses!

Sandar,
We should get together and compare our collections. Although I'm sure mine would make yours look like a very small collection indeed.

It makes me long for the days when I lived in an all electric apartment - electric heat and air and NO DUST. It was wonderful. Now that I'm allergic to it I have tons of it. I hate dusting because it stirs it up and makes my eyes itchy and all sneezy and stuffy - if I leave it alone I'm only stuffy.

OK, back to real collections. Once upon a time I used to collect matchbooks. I had a huge collection - I think I still have some somewhere. Now I don't really collect anything.

My DD collects Disney pins and I do enjoy helping her with that, but they are her choices and I just keep my eye out for good trades with CMs. She also collects chop sticks - she doesn't have too many yet.

Well I collect a few things. Disney World resort and park mugs. They don't collect dust. They're our daily mugs and every time I take a sip of coffee or tea from them beside the drink warming me so does memories of great vacations. We also collect Disney caps and T Shirts. My other collection is my pottery books. Mostly bought second hand thru eBay. They help me with my research doing my pottery. The collection is better then most public libraries and will go to the college I learned how to do pottery in my will.

I collect cows. No, not real cows, but stuff for my kitchen that has cows on it. I've slowed up a bit in recent years, because all the stuff I have, sits on the shelf and collects dust!

hmmm...collections.

Do I collect anything?

My Lego collection has just passed the 300,000 element mark, with the goal of getting to half a million by December 2004.

I have some Disney collectables including an actual piece of the film of Madame Leota, which played in the WDW Haunted mansion for years. They eventually replaced the old film projectors with more reliable digital projectors. That is my favorite souvenir, my little chunk of the magic.
I also have a ltd ed. Haunted Mansion Skeleton Key and some cool imagineering stuff.

I also collect various scientific models(theoretical and proven) focused on quantum mechanics, hyper-dimensional physics, and mathematics, thereby solidifying my membership in the official geek fan club.

I collect a few different things. :D

I have a nice Disney salt and pepper shaker collection. I get a set whenever I go to WDW. They are fun, especially the one with Tink sitting on a jar of jam.

I also collect plates. I have them everywhere on my walls, and they are beautiful. I have 4 Mary Poppins plates, a Sorcerer Mickey one, gorgeous Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music, to name a few. I also have lots of plates with flowers on them. There is one set of three that came from my grandmother's house. They are in the original hangers that she had them in, so even those are pretty nice. Those three are pink roses. I am not picky about plates, no specific names or anything. If I see something that touches me I will add it to the collection.

I have a small tea cup and tea pot collection. The tea cups came from my mother's house. The tea pots I have aquired over time. In the same cabinet with my tea pots is my Hummel collection. Well, it isn't really very many. My sister and I split my mother's up. Mine are mostly the musical ones. They are very old, from when my parents were first married, 1950. I don't expect I will add to it, but they surely have sentimental value to me.

Another thing that I collect is heart shaped rocks. Wherever I go I look for them. We have a little rock garden within our patio garden of heart shaped, and other pretty rocks we have found.

I have lots of Disney pictures and such on my Disney wall. There are a few lithos, my Disney stock, a signed anniversary card from Mickey and Minnie, and some other fun things. There is still some room on that wall. :)

And, last but surely not least, I have a fairly large collection of Disney pins. Particularly, I have a lot of Tinkerbell pins! :)

I collect a couple of things, the main ones being Precious Moments and Disney pins. Here at DL the had the 13 weeks of pins to go with the HM redo. We were at DL almost everyone Sunday when they released them!

I also love Pooh watches and pretty much anything else Pooh. Hardly a day goes by that he isn't somewhere on my wardrobe.

My current collections include:

1. Christmas ornaments from everywhere we've travelled. I get something every trip and it is sooo fun to put them up every year.

2. Realistic stuffed animals. I will not get more than one of any species unless they are significantly different like obviously adult and baby. I have lots of species including both Matchies and Goodfellows Tree Kangaroos. A subset of my collection is made by Steiff, the German button in ear company.

3. Wee Forest Folk figures with a mouse couple. They aren't Bianca and Bernard but they're sure cute!

4. Books about Walt Disney World, including every edition of every planning book I've ever found as well as the books Disney has published about the parks themselves (e.g. the gardens, the architecture, the attractions).

5. Extensive collection of cat hair, breed currently limited to Abyssinian

My biggest collection consists of cookbooks, I have lots and lots, from wherever I go, I just canīt resist.

Some years ago I started to buy musical Disney snow globes. Currently I have four, hoping to slowly extend the collection on coming trips to WDW.

And I love rhinos, so I started to collect any kind of rhino figurines, already have some out of wood, stone, ceramics and a little beanie rhino.

And last but not least we have a whole cupboard full of books and brochures about travelling in the US, mostly from Florida and WDW.

Steph,
I collect cards too. Although technically I don't know if you can call it collecting because I buy cards and then forget to send them.

I'm almost ashamed to admit how many collections I have had or have now. My favorites:

1. Popular children's artists from the early twentieth century. I have prints, postcards and children's books from artists Charles Twelvetrees, Frances Brundage, R.F. Outcault(Buster Brown), Grace Drayton(Campbell Kids) and Margaret Evans Price.

2. Children's Hankies. Illustrated hankies for kids go back as far as the early 1800's. The oldest one I have is of a Palmer Cox Brownie design, 1896. The newest ones are from Japan and are Disney designs. They used to sell those in the Mitsukoshi store in the Epcot Japan pavilion. I haven't seen them in the last few trips. I won a 1932 Minnie Mouse hankie last month on Ebay.

3. Little cars. There is no rhyme or reason here. I just like little cars. Give me a matchbox car at work and I can play happily for hours.

Some might call me a pack rat. I prefer collector actually. I'm addicted to collecting pretty much whatever catches my eye and my heart. Official collections would most likely be as follows:

Disney pins-got bunches of them and love wandering thru the albums I have them in.

Disney musical snow globes-Over the years when someone I cared deeply for (best friends, special relatives) had a milestone event in their life I'd give them the gift of a carefully chosen music box or musical snow globe. I loved them so much and took great care in choosing them. Thing is, I never had any myself. One of the first gifts I gave to my hubby was a Fantasia snow globe with Sorcerer Micky and the brooms on it. I told him about my tradition and since he's created another collection for me. We have several and hardly a day goes by that I don't play one or two.

Misc. Disney stuff-Mostly Mickey but again whatever catches my heart. Some rather odd stuff that we've picked up on trips, some antiques that folks have given as gifts knowing anything Mickey is a sure winner for Lor. Our Christmas tree is nearly all Disney with only some special gifts and hand made stuff added. We have changed the name of our Living room to The Shrine.

Scrapping supplies-Yeah Steph, it's a sickness, but I'm not looking for the cure yet.

Plants-I've got probably hundreds of different plants. Heck I put in nearly 70 rosebushes last summer alone. Some day I'll take inventory and see how many different plants I have.

Nutcrackers-I tell the guys at work that there is a message there. Really, I was treated to a seat at a performance of the Nutcracker as a birthday gift one year as I'd always loved the music. It was all over then. While I've slowed down considerably, I have many really kewl ones ranging from scrapbooking stickers to very detailed figures by Ulbright and Steinbach. (German and expensive-think the ones you see at EPCOT)

You could probably say we collect DVDs too. We have around 300 and while we go for new releases, we are also adding classics as we find them. We love old movies around here.

No wonder I have such a hard time keeping up with the house. Too many collections. (These are only what I would consider mine-and some ours) This isn't the boys' or hubby's)

I have started to collect water globes from Disney. I buy a special one for each trip I take and place it on my computer desk. So far my favorite one is from the WL and it shows the lodge in the globe with Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Bear in a boat canoing around the lodge.

We also collect work from a local artist(well Niagara on the Lake actually) named Tricia Romance. I have a large painting of hers in my diningroom, as well as some of her painted plates.

Cool question.

I have never seen a water globe of a resort like that. How cool is that?! Wonder if there are others of the other WDW hotels.

Moley,

I saw one on (gasp) Ebay of the GF not long ago. As I recall it wasn't very big, more of the mini variety, but that would be great as desk decor.

I figure I'll check while out in CA for those too.

Moley,

The WL snow globe is the only one I have seen so far for resort globes. I checked with the Polynesian and AKL to see if they had any of there resorts, but they did not.

I really love my WL one, it is a good size and I think it was about $40. I ahve heard there is a new one out with all of the villians, which I hope to see when I go in a few weeks.

We just ret'd. from AKL and they had a small snow globe.

My daughter has been collecting Disney snow globes for quite some time now. She has more than 20 in her collection of the larger globes. (I'd hate to think of the dollars spent there--LOL). We've also started a good sized collection of the small ones as well.

My girlfriend started her a collection in the Pooh porcelan pieces from the Hallmark store. I was also able to get a few pieces in the Contemporary gift shop years ago. I have since been told they have discountinued this collection. She has approximately 15 pieces or more.

I have personally started a Disney collection of plates, cups, mugs, wine glasses, towels, trivits, cookie jars, salt/pepper shakers, sugar/creamer pieces, tea kettle, tea cup for one, and many, many other pieces from the Gourmet Pantry in Downtown Disney. I buy something new to add to it each trip. I still need to get the silverware. I have it all displayed in a china cabinet. It's white with Mickey in blue around it. Hoping they don't discontinue it anytime soon.

My son collects Pluto anything. In fact, he purchased 10 new beanie Pluto's this past week and another plush. We were just there in Sept. and I thought I bought all the new ones up then. He has a knack for finding them. Keep in mind--he's 19 and he has then displayed all over his room. He even took them to college and had them in his dorm room and car! He's a little obsessed I'd say! Runs in the family!!!!!! LOL!

Disneyfanatic,

I'll have to go back to AKL to get one of there snow globes. They must be new, as I could not get one last August of this past January. Did you purchase it at the Lodge gift shop? Thanks,

I don't collect much, although my driveway looks like a dirty car collection right now.
books - I collect "ripping yarns," boys books of the late 19th and early 20th century - Clive of India sort of stuff. I also collect nature books from the first half of the 20th century - Edwin Way Teale and that sort of thing
I have a small collection of mickey watches, but since I like to wear them and tend to be forgetful, the collection sometimes shrinks, rather than growing
other mickey stuff - older stuff, not current stuff - one of my favorites is a Chicago Worlds Fair mickey pocket knife from the 30s
I have the world's largest privately held collection of unused fishing gear
lately I appear to be collecting a lot of ear and nose hair
