Hi everyone! It's been a while since I posted, but I've read all the trip reports. So glad everyone had such a good time at Mousefest.! :D
I have a question about Ft. Wilderness. We bought a camper in September (25 ft, 30 opened) :) :) and are looking forward to our first camping trip to Disney. Do they ever have discounts there? I may find myself off this summer (company is being bought) so was thinking of going down, my family is DEFINITELY taking a trip there next Christmas so if things work out this summer it's possible that I'll buy PAP. Would that get me a better rate.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much
Dina

Yes, FtW does offer discounts at various times throughout the year. I think that discounts are only offered right now through April, but the info will all be at www.mousesavers.com. If they're not out yet for your time of the year, keep checking. Summer is NOT peak rate time for FtW; the winter is. So, even if there aren't any discounts, you won't be paying the highest prices.
Then, for great info on the campground, visit http://home.hiwaay.net/~jlspence/faq_fw.htm and http://www.disneycampers.com/Disney/Disney_Default.htm.
Now, you give the size of your camper, but is your camper a pull trailer or a motor home? If a motor home, are you pulling a tour vehicle? That can make a difference in the space you'll need.
We have a 36' fifth wheel, so when you add the truck pulling the camper, we require at least 52' of space. That's important to tell when you make your ressies, because not all sites are long enough.
Also, we have 3 slide-outs. Many sites have trees so near the pavement that we wouldn't be able to open on both sides if we don't specify that info. If you have a slide, be sure to tell the CM taking the ressie that you have a slide AND a canopy so that they can put you in a wider or clearer site. (And, no, most CMs won't ask these questions when you're making your ressie.)
We usually ask for a preferred site so that we'll be closer to the rear of the 1 mile long campground and will have cable for TV. The rear is where you catch the boat launch to the MK, eat in the TrailsEnd, catch the night water parade, and is close to one of the two stores.
Hope this helps.

Debby, your information is great! Thanks for sharing. We get back into the RV lifestyle on of these days, and FtW is one of the places I really want to stay. We did the DL RV camp twice and were really sorry to see it go.

Thanks Happycamper.
This is some great info. I go to mousesavers all the time, don't know why I didn't think to check there.
My camper is a pull trailer. We pull with a 4-door Truck. It's 25' closed, but the back end pulls out another 5' (that's my bed!) Of course it also has an awning. I'll remember to tell them. I need lots of space because I'll be driving!!!! I think I'll just placard the thing with so sorry!

Thanks for the nice words, Joe. :-)
Dina: Our truck is also a 4-door with a long bed for the camper to fit over. Sounds like you're going to need a long pad, too.
Have a great time.

Dina you will have so much fun at Ft. Wilderness! Now, my idea of camping is a Marriott   , except when it comes to Ft W!
There is SOO much to do there, and at Christmas and even the 4th of July a lot of campers go all out with the lights and decorations!!
