Chef Mickey’s & Downtown Disney
Alright! It’s finally here! Un-birthday vacation w/ Mickey (birthday was 12/9). Wake up the gremlin that is my sister :devil: to have her drive us to the airport. She is worse than the gremlins I think, “Bright light! Bright light!” Anyway – she finally drags herself away from the pillow & we get to BNA. There is about a 30 minute delay on our flight so we camp out & get ready for a week in FL. Snowing in Nashville & heading to the sunshine state :sun: – what could be better? Plane finally arrives & off we go! A little more turbulence than I’m used to but we make it in one piece – that’s the main thing.
1p arrival @ MCO & no driver holding up our name! OK, our flight was delayed so maybe he had to move the car? I then get paged over the announcement system. Call the operator & yes, that is exactly what happened. Driver said to go to curb & he pulls right up.
Get to All-Star Movies & line isn’t that bad for check-in. The front desk is huge but not all stations are manned – just like at your local grocery store check-out! CM pulls info & states will not have to switch rooms (got 1st night & last night Disney Club :cry: room ressies & pkg in the middle). Also get her to print out 50-11 PS’s we have for the week. She really gets a kick out of the list when she pulls it up. We are eating all over the World! :eat: Get assigned to Love Bug section, 3rd flr (heard about those toilets). One thing about the All-Stars – it is a walk to any of the sections, so don’t waste $$$ for a preferred bldg.
3p & Kaela is all excited wanting to do something so we decide to use our tickets for mini-golf & head out. The closest is Winter Summerland so we hop on a bus to Epcot. Blizzard Beach is under rehab so when we get on the bus I had to info the driver to make a stop there (foreshadowing!!!). The mini-golf is a hoot. Kaela has a blast – she could play putt-putt everyday if I let her. We play 18 holes, get a drink & head back to the bus stop. I think we are the only people that actually used the bus to come there today. Bus after bus passes by. I know as soon as I go back to the golf office the bus will come & I’ll miss it so I just sit. Luckily a CM :angelBear: comes up & she assures me that the busses are supposed to come by every 30 minutes. She works in security along w/ her husband & has been w/ WDW for quite a few years so she has a few stories to help pass the time. When about the 20th bus passes by she goes to a phone on one of the other shelters & calls to let them know we are waiting. She states that there are phones at all bus shelters which I never knew. Bus finally comes & we head back to the resort.
PS at Chef Mickey’s @ 6:30 & a mini-meet w/ Cshore, AliKat & others @ 5p. There is no way we will make it after the bus fiasco @ mini-golf. :( We get back to the room, shower & head right back out to get to Contemporary. I catch a bus to MK & walk over to the resort. Our last visit we stayed @ the Contemp & never once walked to MK. It would have saved a lot of time instead of getting on the monorail everyday! It is exactly 5:55p when we walk thru the doors & head straight for the 4th floor. Looked around & didn’t see anybody w/ Tagrel tags on or looking like they are looking for others either. Kaela starts whining about food so I head over to Chef Mickey check-in, they pull our PS, give us a pager & herd us over to the required photo op. After the pic we head back out to the lobby area & look at the monorail display. Pager goes off so we head over to eat. On all our PS’s I info’d that we were celebrating Kaela’s 5th birthday so it would be a surprise to her that everyone already knew. She got an autographed placemat (pre-signed & laminated) & a birthday cupcake. :party: The waiter info’d that they also planned to have Mickey come over while a “special guest here today” song played but we were in the dessert line when it came on.
Finish up there & head out to Downtown Disney to use Disney Club discount for Christmas gifts. It is packed! 1st stop is Days of Christmas to get Santa Mickey ears :mickeyXmas: for MVMCP pics, go here because I want them embroidered in block letters which they cant do at the parks. I get Santa Mickey & Kaela gets Santa Minnie ears. Also pick up a dated Christmas ornament & get that personalized also & all shipped back to our resort room (at ASMo goes to store in main bldg & you pick it up there). Next is World of Disney. I love that place! It is wall to wall shoppers, can barely get thru the aisles. Get most of the shopping done, really don’t see anything for my niece & nephews but find something for most of the adults – go figure. When I check out the cashier didn’t ask if I was a resort guest so she doesn’t ring up for delivery, she isn’t very happy because now she has to manually fill out the delivery form. Was I supposed to know I had to inform her before she rings up the merchandise? :shrug: After checking the line inside Ghirardelli’s for the 12th time & deciding it’s still too long :evil: we then head over to Once Upon a Toy. Have to get the Disney Mr. Potato Head & want to thank all for the posts about using the inside of the potato to pack as much stuff as you can. They were really checking to make sure the top of the box correctly closed at check-out. I just love that Sorcerer Mickey hat for him, & the Mickey Bar, & the autograph book, & … It’s just so cute! I wish I had gotten the smaller one for my desk @ work! That’s reason enough alone for another trip! :D Browsed thru the Basin, Disney @ Home & Wonderful World of Memories. Finally head back to ASMo & to bed to be ready for breakfast @ CRT the next day!
