Other than bottled water, what else do you get when you make one of those 20minute grocery stops?
Also, has anyone ever faxed in their order to Albertsons? How do you know what they offer or what to put on the list?
Thanks!

Suzy,
Last year was the first time we did this. Our limo service was Atlantis and I called there services to see what Albertsons offered. We got bottled water, 2-6 pks of Diet Pepsi (24 oz) and 2-6 pks of Pepsi (24 oz). I like to have Diet Pepsi first thing in the morning (we're not coffee drinkers) and hate to run down to get it at the resort.

Can't help you with the fax-ahead issue, but this is what we usually stop for.
Large water jugs, a 1litre sport bottle for each person, bread, peanut butter, jelly, apples, grapes, bananas, baby carrots, peppers (any other veggie that keeps well for several days), juice boxes, cereal, milk, yogurt-cups/tubes, granola bars, nuts, cereal, bits n bites, pretzels, crackers, oysters, pop, beer, plastic bowls, plastic plates.
If we fly and don't have a car for the duration I have a very specific list with quantities ie how many juice boxes, etc. If we drive, I try and bring all that I can as our groceries are much cheaper here. I have brought the sport bottles, pb & j, some fruit and veg, cereal, frozen yogurt tubes, granola bars, nuts/snacks, lunchmeat, salmon and a toaster, bagels, cream cheese, muffins, dishes, pop.
We always do breakfast in the room and take snacks to the park so those are our main purchases. Squeezing in a lunch or dinner in the room helps with the budget as well. A fresh toasted salmon sandwich sure does taste great!

Last June when we tool the Girl Scouts (18 total people) we took 2 hours and went to Sams- great savings and we ate sooo well we ended up bringing foof home and refunding some of the kids food money so they had more to spend at WDW.
We ate 2 meals out in restraunts :Prime Time and Sci Fi (girls choice) all our breakfasts in the cabins, had lunch meat, chips for other lunches and all our dinners in the cabins (easy stuff like tacos, frozen lasagna ect. ) Total in house food budget was under $400.00 for 18 people- we also had lots of snacks- birthday cake, ice cream, and individual take along snacks for the parks like peanuts, fruit bars, granola bars, cookies.
The local Sams have their stock online, just pick the store you want. I realize this aould only work for large groups- I love Sams.

We get bananas for leg cramps and a healthy snack. I also buy large disposable cups. I never trust that the glasses in the room are as sterilized as they should be.

Moley,
Its good to know I am not the only one who wondered about the glasses. ROFL That is one reason why we try to buy the 24 oz bottles to keep in out room. And everyone gets their own. Never share a drink with my youngest. NOPE never!

I would like to mention that there is a Sams Club located on Orange Blossom Trail aka OBT.
If you are coming from the airport, take the Sout exit get on 417 to OBT. It is down about 3-1/2 miles on the left side. There is also a Costco on OBT if you prefer.
Another great place to grab groceries is SuperTarget. This is just off 417 also on OBT. You can save a ton of money staying at the cabins and buying lots of groceries. One of the popular dinners we buy are the Stoeffers Lasagna. Pop it in the oven for a couple hours, go off somewhere and have fun, come back and dinner is ready! For about $8 you can feed 6-8 people!!!!! Can't beat that!!!
For those of you that refuse to cook on your vacation, remember the ton of moulah you can save by just having dinner off property, by eating at places like TGIF,Chilis, McDonalds,Pizza Hut,TacoBell, etc.

You know, Albertson's offers on-line shopping and delivery in my area. Maybe we should start a writing campaign to have them offer at least the on-line shopping for Orlando. Even if they didn't want to deliver things (and how nice would THAT be, if they did?) it would simplify things a lot if you knew exactly what you were ordering, and then could just pick it up.

That's EXACTLY what I want! It is so hard to try to put together a list of items that I want and not know if they have it or how much. ;)
I just decided to call them (407-857-5666) and ask specifically before I send in my order.
Thanks for the info!

We took a folding cooler to put things in after we got out of the store. We got lunch meat, cheese, rolls for sandwiches, diet pepsi, water and some fruits. All I had to do each day was fill some zip locks with ice (I double bagged it too so it wouldnt leak all over) I brough gallon size freezer ones since they are thicker. On the way home we packed dirty laundry in that cooler and checked it in at the airport. It really did hold a lot of stuff and sicne its on wheels with a pull out handle it was easy to maneauver.

Is there an Albertson's near WDW? We usually go to Publix but I'm not crazy about their selection.

There is an Albertsons on Orange Blossom and Happy Limo uses it as a grocery stop.

Thanks Suzy, maybe we'll find it in a couple of weeks. We'll have our own car so we can look for it.

Besides all of the things mentioned, one thing that we've picked up is a package/box of fried chicken in the deli area. We stick it in fridge or cooler (depends on trip) and have a few meals of cold fried chicken. Usually the first day we buy it we go back to room and have a hot chicken meal and wrap the leftovers for a few other meals.
Pixie, They also have a Winn Dixie near DD that is good. Take a left at the light at the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd - don't cross over into Crossroads shopping plaza - and it is on the right not too far down 535.
