Day Two

Mickey wakes us up bright and early Saturday morning. Today is the Drag Cheri on Mission: Space Meet. While I know I am not going on this one, my son Matt is ready to take it on. We are a bit slow moving this morning as we have had very little sleep & it is cold outside. Friday was a very nice warm day but as the night came the temperatures dropped. Saturday ended up being cold & windy! We head towards the Food Court to grab a quick bite but it is very crowded & I was concerned we may be late to Epcot. Another thought was did we want Matt to eat before going on Mission: Space? No!

We arrive at Epcot & make it through the lines with a bit of a delay. It seems no one in the line we chose knew how to put their tickets through the machine. They did not have Annual Passes so it was not the finger thing, they just could not decide which way the tickets went in. It actually was quite comical seeing this group of 10 debate ticket insertion. We are in Epcot & have a little time to kill so decide to grab a quick ride on Spaceship Earth.

Time is getting close to the Mission: Space Meet so off we go. We always cut through the Electric Umbrella & who do we see eating breakfast but Stinkerbelle. Boy was I impressed with her, eating right before going on Mission: Space. That is one brave girl. When we arrive we discover that Cheri is not going to be dragged on Mission: Space today because she is sick. There has been some sort of 24-hour bug running rampant in Cheri’s family & today is her turn with it. Kristen, Dave’s wife, is also back at the resort with a bug. We wait a few minutes for all the brave souls to show up for the ride. Before going on the ride we take a picture of Tagrel, Jimbolini, WillCAD, Stinkerbelle & my son Matt. BetsyAnn, her mom Elaine & I are the official holders of stuff while the others ride. We headed to the gift shop & then into the game area while waiting for our group to make it back from Space. It was funny watching people as they came off the ride, NO ONE is smiling. At least no one is smiling until our group of space travelers came off. Big smiles around, everyone loved it. As many in our group had not eaten yet that morning we wanted something quick & easy. WillCAD, BetsyAnn, her Mom, Matt & I headed back to Electric Umbrella for lunch.

The Big Mega Meet is scheduled at 1p & the Beaches & Cream Mini Meet at 12noon so all of us head in that direction. BetsyAnn & her mom leave us at The Beach Club as BetsyAnn is a greeter at the meet & needs to arrive early while Will, Matt & I head over to Beaches & Cream. Those at the mini meet were SusanL, Figgy & her husband Dick, WillCAD, Jimbolini & my son Matt & I. It was nice to be able to get to know each other better in a smaller setting. As we had just eaten an hour before I was not planning on getting anything but Matt finally decided he had to have a Chocolate Shake. I must admit it was very tasty, expensive but tasty. Since our trip was so short & we had mini meets planned each day Matt & I did not go to the Mega Meet. As everyone else headed towards the Dolphin, Matt & I headed back to Epcot.

One of our first stops was the Japan Pavilion so Matt could check out their selection of swords. We also of course had to check out the selection in the China Pavilion. Matt bought 2 swords at these Pavilions during our Summer trip & is hoping to add to his collection next Summer. We tried to check out some of the StoryTellers & as usual enjoyed hearing about other countries customs. In Italy we lucked up and arrived just as the Statue was due out. It is so much fun watching people with this statue. I have no idea how they can breathe but also wonder how they can stand so still. I finally forced my son to go up so I could get a picture but was sort of disappointed that the Statue was not moving as people came up. This Summer she did all sorts of comical things. Well she must have read my mind because as I was getting ready to take a picture of Matt she moved her arm so that it was right in front of his face. The crowd loved it! I motioned for Matt to lean a bit so I could get a picture of him. I sure hope it turns out good.

As we make our way around the various countries we stop in Norway for a ride on the Maelstrom. As we are heading through the Gift Shops I smell their wonderful Perfume they have & end up buying the Lotion. It is a wonderful light scent called Laila. Next stop is the Bakery where Matt has to have Lefse at least once on each trip & I decide to try the Rice Cream that everyone raves about. The Rice Cream is quite good but I think I might have liked it better without the Strawberry topping. Next is Mexico where of course you have to ride the Boat Ride if only because there is never a line. We headed back to Future Ride for a quick spin on Test Track but the ride was down. For some reason my feet on this trip were killing me. I had brought a pair of broken in Keds Walking shoes but they must have been too broken in cause they were not doing the job. I stopped by MouseGears on our way out & bought a pair of Mickey Canvas Tennis Shoes. Boy are they comfy.

We were heading to Magic Kingdom tonight due to Park being open until 11pm but did not want to carry our stuff around. So off to the resort to drop things off, put on my new shoes & catch the bus to the Magic Kingdom. Lucky us as we are leaving to head towards the Disney buses we see Figgy & her husband Dick. It was so nice to see them again. What a wonderful couple. It was really crowded on Main Street but we soon realized most people were leaving. This morning they were filming the Christmas Parade so I am betting a lot of people had been there all day. Good for us! We got to ride most of the rides we wanted with little or no wait at all. We even rode the Jungle Cruise tonight. We had a great driver who seemed to enjoy his job very much. Dinner tonight was at Columbia Harbour House where I finally got the Galley Salad. For those of you who recommended this salad you were right. It is great. Haunted Mansion was calling our name & Matt had found a new Hidden Mickey that he needed to share with me. As you are passing by the Opera Singers at the end of the ride if you will look to your far right you will see a mirror set back. In the mirror on the upper left is a Hidden Mickey in the fog. Very cool.

We hit a few more rides & then saw that SpectroMagic was just starting. We decided to take the train to Main Street & hope to catch a spot there for the Parade. We lucked out, as there was a spot near Exposition Hall. Just as the Parade was ending we headed out to try to beat most of the crowd. I had forgotten my camera that night so did not get any pictures of the 75 Mickey’s but did enjoy looking at them. I am not sure if I would want them there all the time. I wonder why Disney did not make miniatures of them. I would think that would have been a good selling opportunity for them.

Back to the resort we grabbed Hot Chocolate, a Turkey Sub for Matt & a piece of Chocolate Cake to take back to the room. Into bed tonight around midnight. I am now thinking I am glad we stayed at the All Stars as we have only been in the room to sleep.
