We did the WL Sleigh Ride on 12/7 and LOVED it.
It was a complete surprise for Kristen, she had NO idea, WHAT we were going to do. Stopped by Roaring Fork to get a couple mugs of Hot Chocolate, and then headed out the main entrance for a 5:30p reservation.
She saw the sleigh parked outside immediately, and got really excited that THAT was her surprise. :D Terry - the driver - was just getting set up (they have a roped off area to park the sleigh), and we were able to say hello to Lucky (our sleigh horse) and check things out a bit. Its a beautiful 'Sleigh' with runners and all. (of course, they hide the wheels behind some red flaps to maintain the 'magic'). Jingle Bells are hooked on Lucky, and there is even a wreath and Christmas lights on the Sleigh. It was drawing quite a bit of interest from everyone passing by.
We hopped in, and pulled up a nice quilt to keep out the chill and we were off. It heads out the main exit, and then turns off on the FW path. It goes a ways on that, then turns around, and returns to the WL bus loading area where the sleigh turns off on the sidewalks between the WL and VWL. You go around past the lake up to the Pool Bar, and then turn around and head back to the front loading area. A very nice trip that takes just under 30 minutes.
It was a highlight of the trip, and I'd recommend it to everyone! Just remember Lucky is a horse, and smells like one! ;) Terry was very friendly, and with the popularity of the Sleigh Rides, he thinks Disney may continue running some sort of nightly ride all year around.
