The characters
AliciaG /Pixie Chick – loves to commando tour with some smell the roses thrown in, loves meets and will talk to anybody.
AmyA – Pure blooded commando tourista is trying to learn to be a little more lazy butt since she’s bringing her toddler next month.
TrixyA – Just happy to be there, giggled often about the massive snowstorms they were having in New England, and was thrilled to be in Mickey Land instead.
Wednesday, December 3, 2003 – Amy and I met at the airport in Nashville and had a good flight into MCO. We arrived in the baggage claim area to find Gregory from Quicksilver and Trixy already with her bags. It was great to see Trixy in person again, and to be able to give her a big hug. Gregory was very nice and helped us get all our bags to the car. We made a very quick stop in the liquor store, and then got some water and a few breakfast items at the grocery store. It was great to talk with Gregory. He was picking up several of the folks who were attending Mousefest, and we learned a lot about how he’d gotten his business going. We made it to the Contemporary Resort and scheduled a noon pickup time on our departure day with Quicksilver.
The minute we arrived at the Contemporary we were spotted by Mary. It was great to finally meet the Wench. Mary is a real sweetie! More hugs were given and gotten, and we stood around and talked while Amy got us checked in. There had been a bit of a mix-up where they put us in the South Garden Wing, but Amy got that straightened out. While we were waiting Wishes started and we were able to enjoy a bit of the fireworks. We were given a great room on the 3rd floor of the North Garden Wing that actually looked back at the CR tower. Great view! We had to part ways with Mary, as she had dinner plans with her family, and we were scheduled to dine at House of Blues at 8:00.
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/CRview.jpg
Now here’s where we encountered a little bit of a problem. Due to fluid in her ears, Amy was having severe ear pain due to the pressure on the flight. She’d already had to get an ear tube in one ear after a flight a few weeks earlier, and the flight to Orlando caused her other ear to hurt really badly. She decided that she’d need to go ahead and see a doctor right away as to not be miserable all week long. When we got to our room she made some phone calls and found that the best thing to do was to visit the ER at Celebration hospital. It was late and we were all hungry, and I needed to buy my AP for EMH the next morning, so we decided to bus to Downtown Disney, and grab a quick bite to eat at Wolfgang Puck’s Express. The food here was delicious, quick, and inexpensive. After we ate we walked Amy down to a cab stand, and sent her off to the ER. Trixy and I shopped a bit, bought my AP, and then headed back to the CR at around 11:00pm. I think Amy came in around 1:30 – 2:00am with news that her ear was really bad, and that she had gotten the needed referral to visit an ENT the next day.
Thursday December 4, 2003 – Hell bent on making the best of things, Amy took some Ibuprofen and was up and at ‘em for EMH. We were all thrilled to walk on everything in Fantasyland with no wait. I think we rode Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Small World, and Mickey’s Philharmagic all before 9:00. Philharmagic rocks! I loved the entire film, and the 3-D effects are so good they are more like a simulator at times than 3-D. Amy had to make a phone call to the ENT’s office, and they were very kind and able to get her worked in at 2:00 that afternoon. She also spoke with the folks at the Car Care Center and they arranged to pick her up at the CR and take her over to sign up for a one day rental car.
We still had a bit of time left before she had to head to the resort, so we rode the Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Aladdin’s Carpets and then had lunch at Columbia Harbor House before she left. Trixy and I toured a little more. I can’t remember exactly what all we rode, but I distinctly remember getting stuck on Pirates of the Caribbean and Trixy getting some cool pictures. We then decided to head back to the resort and take a little nap since we had MVMCP scheduled that night. There’s nothing like getting a little rest when you’ve stayed up late, gotten up early, and are intending to do it all over again. Commando!
We got up just in the nick of time to dress for the party and head over to Liberty Tree Tavern for our pre-party dinner. The good news was that we passed Amy on our way out, and the ENT had done the quick version of putting a tube in her ear. She was still in some pain, but much better, and having a positive attitude of having fun this trip. She freshened up a bit, and met us a few minutes later at LTT.
I need to stop here to thank Amy for taking time out of her visit to the doctor to stop at a drug store and get me a new curling iron. My curling iron went kaput when I took it out of my suitcase the first night. A good southern girl was in horror of not having all her hair and make-up essentials. Thank you, Amy!
Now our plan had been to hook up with Ronski sometime during MVMCP. We’d exchanged phone numbers earlier, and he was going to call us if/when he wanted to hook up. We were all looking forward to meeting the kilt wearing rogue, but we knew he was kind of an anti-planner, so we waited to hear from him. In the meantime we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at LTT. The food was very good, and it was just a great chance to sit down and enjoy each others company. The characters were Minnie, Meeko, Chip, Dale, and Pluto.
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/LTT.jpg
After dinner we went to get our group MVMCP picture made. I don’t remember exactly what we rode, but we rode without crowds or waits. Our plan was to avoid the first parade and get some ride time in then. Then we’d see Wishes, some shows, and enjoy the second parade. This worked out very good for us. The crowds were really concentrated on Main Street during Wishes and on the parade routes during that time. Other than that each land was relatively un-crowded, and there were little to no lines for the rides.
Wishes was great! I really liked all the effects they did on and around the castle, and the music was awesome. I also really enjoyed the parade, but the best was just being on Main Street. The lights and decorations will take your breath away. The snow was just another cool effect to enhance the magic there.

http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/MainStreetMVMCP.jpg
After Wishes we headed to Tomorrowland to buy my MVMCP pin and ride a few things. I was getting concerned that we hadn’t heard from Ronski, but just figured he’d decided he wanted to sit and watch parades and not commando tour. I decided to call him anyway, and when I did, I discovered he’d left a message about the time we went into dinner. I was so disappointed because we’d had an open seat at our table, and he could have joined us. I gave him a quick call, but he had already left. He’d been disappointed that he couldn’t hook up with someone, but we never heard our phones ring. Next time, Ron!
We enjoyed a curbside spot for the last parade, and then slowly made our way out on the most beautiful Main Street while snapping tons of photos. It was a good day, and Amy was back on her way to health.

Wow Alicia, Thanks for sharing your report, so far, and the great pictures.
It was really so nice meeting you. What a great time we all had!!!
Check out Ron's house in the Photo Gallery. Only he would come up with Mickey Wreaths. We'll get to see it in person over the holidays, he lives just a few miles away from us. Figgy

Thanks guys! :D Here are days 3 and 4. It was a wild couple of days, but we had tons of fun.
Friday December 5, 2003 - Even after the late night we were up and ready to go. We decided to drive to Epcot since Amy still had the rental car, and would need to return it around lunch time. We entered the park just after opening, and headed straight to Mission Space. The ride was a walk on, which was probably a good thing, because my imagination was getting the best of me. I get motion sickness on anything that goes round and around, but I had taken my Bonine that morning. It didn’t help that they issued a warning about motion sickness about every 30 seconds. I was bound and determined to give it a try though, so off we went.
We were paired up with a teenage boy who determined he was going to be the pilot. He thought that was the seat for the first person who went in, but he was mistaken. Instead of scooting on in and being the engineer, he stopped in the 2nd position. Little did he know I’d requested to be on the end “just in case”. I thought if I get sick this kid is going to be wishing he’d have been the darn engineer, lol. http://www.dishub.com/commonground/images/smiles/puke.gif He need not fear though. I did great! I was too darned scared to take my eyes off that screen or try and lift my head forward. I never felt queasy at all. I only started to think once we landed on Mars that this could be over soon, and I wouldn’t have my feelings hurt.
Next we used our Fastpasses we had grabbed for Test Track earlier. I always love this ride, and it was great to blow by a 45 minute standby line. We bought some pins; rode Spaceship Earth and Amy had a snack at the Fountainview Bakery.
World Showcase was now open, and it was time for Amy to return the car, so Trixy and I had lunch at the Tangierine Café. The food here was incredible, and the best deal I got all week using my meal vouchers. It was enough for us to split, and still have some left over.
One of my goals was to try and get a picture of each of the countries holiday storytellers. After lunch I was a woman on a mission. I ended up getting pictures and hearing stories from Taarji (Morocco), Pere Noel (France), and Daruma Vendor (Japan). I went to the story time for Father Christmas, but he was late, and so was I for the Fort Wilderness meet. Amy arrived back from the Car Care Center, and I headed off to Ft. W for the Tagrel.com meet.
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/FridaySantas.jpg
I showed up around 2:30 at the meet, and everyone was enjoying their meals and getting to talk to one another. I got to get reacquainted with folks I’d met before like PammyK, FLSharon, MargaretJ, Matt, and Tagrel. I just love each and every one of them! It was wonderful to meet for the first time (y’all forgive me if I forget anyone) LimeGreenCheri, Ken, Stinkerbelle, VillainGirl, Cinderella, Ronnie, Jimbolini, SusanL, Miss Bianca, Bernard, Diskid, Figgy, Dick, Ronski, John, BetsyAnn, Elaine, and WillCAD. Whew! It was great to visit with everyone, and we managed to get a group pic. There were also some awesome gifts passed around. Cinderella made adorable little canvas bags with people’s pictures on them, and the meet date. These were filled with goodies too. MikeS was passing around Mousefest key chains and Mouse Planet buttons for everyone, and WillCAD had made an awesome poster to hand out to all in attendance. It was that really cool aerial picture of the WDW property, and Will had doctored it up really nice. Cheri also had a door prize which I believe Villain Girl won.

It was time to head back to the Contemporary and grab warm clothes for tonight’s Candlelight Processional narrated by Rita Moreno. This was the first time I’d been on any of the boat transportation around the Magic Kingdom, and it was great. When we pulled up to the Wilderness Lodge we picked up a group of Red Hat Ladies. I’m gonna be a Red Hat Lady, and wear a purple dress with red shoes when I grow up too!
I met Trixy and Amy back at Epcot and we were able to get some great pictures before the tree lighting ceremony. We headed into the theatre for the show, and were able to snag some seats on a walk thru aisle so we had plenty of leg room. The show was absolutely beautiful! The music was perfect, and Ms. Moreno was a very animated narrator. One particular passage she read brought tears to my eyes, and the accompanying music was just perfect. After the show we enjoyed a dinner at LeCellier. As always this was perfect!

http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/Candlelight.jpg
It was time to head over to the Polynesian for one of the Plunderfest meets. Amy had taken one of Trixy’s over the counter sinus medicines, which had an antihistamine in it that made her sleepy. Amy, sorry for the picture I took of you on the monorail sleeping. I know it had been a long few days for you, and the medicine knocked you out, but it was just too cute to pass up a pic.
We arrived at the Tambu lounge to find tons of folks already enjoying pineapples filled with rum and other goodies. We were given buttons from Kylara, pirate caps from Coastalwader and Georgia, and a Plunderfest CD from Robin. What a way to be greeted! We got to meet everyone and then moved outside so we could have a little more room, and the smokers could get their nicotine fix, lol. It was so great to finally put a face to each name. What a wonderfully fun group of people! We chatted and got to know everyone a bit before we were off to bed to catch 4 or 5 hours of sleep before we enjoyed another fun-filled day.
Saturday December 6, 2003 – What a wicked cold day! Not only was it cold, but it was very windy. The wind was what made it so miserable, because it just cut into you. Today was our day to go to Animal Kingdom, and we found out that not only can this be the hottest park in the summer, but the coldest in the winter. There is hardly anyplace to get out of the elements, so we found ourselves walking thru the shops on the way somewhere just to get a bit of warmth.
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/AKTree.jpg
We’d decided to go right today, because I would be leaving early to go to the Big Meet, and wanted to do all the rides. Amy and Trixy could stay later and do the shows and trails later if they wanted. We practically walked right on Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, and Triceratops Spin. We were on our way to do ITTBAB, but it was down so we headed back to the Safari. We had a superb guide today, and he stopped often for us to get a better look at the animals. It was so cold that we actually saw a hippo – who usually only show the tops of their heads above the water – all the way out of the water.
After that we decided to go ahead and make a quick tour thru the Pagani Forest Trail. We just had to see the naked mole rats. While we were in there Amy thought she recognized John and John the smaller. Sure enough it was them. We talked for a while, and I let John mock my southern accent to his heart’s content. After the trail we split off to go to lunch at Flame Tree BBQ. This is how good this place is…worth sitting in the cold to eat the great food we’d been looking forward to. We did make sure and find a table with the most possible sunlight though.
After lunch ITTBAB was back up, so we lined up for that. I normally love spending a little time in line here, but not today. I had my hooded sweatshirt pulled up so tight around my head that I hardly see anything that wasn’t straight ahead. The show was great as usual, but afterwards we all decided it was time to get the heck out of Dodge. We were all slamming up against the wall of tiredness due to our commando days and late nights, and I had the get over to the Dolphin. Y’all brace yourselves for this one…Amy actually left a park to take a nap. Yes, I know it’s shocking, lol.
I took a bus to the Dolphin for the Mega Meet. Wow, what a Christmas tree the Dolphin has! I got my picture made for the big RADP photo, and then grabbed a gift bag which had a Minnie dressed as the Statue of Liberty beanie in it. I passed Ronski on my way in, and later heard he decided to take a nap in the lobby. The meet was pretty crowded at this time, but I was able to find the group from Tagrel.com pretty easily thanks to Gregory from Quicksilver who pointed me in the right direction. I saw a lot of the folks that had been at the Ft. W meet, but WDWDen had now joined the crew too. It was really awesome to see so many of the authors and webmasters all in one place. I was glad I decided to go. This was one I wasn’t sure I was going to make time for, but it was worth it.
http://members.aol.com/aguethlein/BigMeet.jpg
I headed back to the Contemporary and actually got to lay down myself for a while before we got ready for dinner at Boma. It’s so great being in the North Garden Wing, because it is such a quick walk to the Magic Kingdom. We walked over to the bus stop and caught the AKL bus. The Christmas tree at AKL was absolutely gorgeous. I know y’all know this, but I’ll say it again…AKL is my favorite! Dinner at Boma was a hit with all of us. It was nice to relax and enjoy a great meal together.
We decided to take a cab to the Yacht Club so as to not take any chances of being late to the big Plunderfest IllumiNations cruise. Once we got to the Yacht Club we went into the restroom to put on all our warm clothes since it was going to be in the 30’s that night. Georgia or somebody came in and actually had a sleeping bag to keep them warm on the cruise. We probably looked like we may have been homeless as we changed clothes, and drank liquid warmth in the fancy bathroom with the sleeping bag.
We made it out to the dock right on time, and hooked up with everyone that was taking the cruise. Mary had done a great job organizing the cruise. She had drawn names to divide the boats up, and each boat had their own cooler, cups, and liquid refreshment. We had a lot of fun standing around talking until Deb Wills called us over and took photos of each group. She also gave us the RADP IllumiNations cruise buttons which were really cool. We also got a group shot made with the great banners that Kelly had made.
We boarded boats 4 and 5 and began to cruise around Crescent Lake. Our captain realized that we were all Disney pros, so he didn’t even bother with all the little trivia they normally give you on the cruise. It was so much fun to try and outrun boat 4. The captains were both good sports and I know all those folks on the other boats wished they were having half as much fun. I was on boat 5 which carried Coastalwader, Georgia, Don, Ajax, Shenzi, Jessica, Robin, Trixy, and Amy. Boat 4 had Mary, Topper, alot, Robey, StormDora, John, John the smaller, Ronski, Kylara, Bev, and Pat. Once we parked under the bridge –of course we were the last to arrive, because we were off having so much fun – the captains let us open the gate on the boats and we could all move back and forth between the two boats. Illuminations started and it was great as always.
http://members.aol.com/aguethlein/Boat5.jpg
After the show, we headed back over to the Yacht Club in preparation for the Hook’s Pub Meet. This was also a great time. Laughter filled the air in that place because this is one funny group of folks. Topper and alot had brought cheesecake, and Shenzi had smoked salmon. This was all passed around and served on Disney plates. After a while door prizes were awarded too. John the smaller pulled names out of a hat for prizes ranging from a Pez dispenser to the banners that were used on the cruise. Finally PaulF showed up. He’d been at LaNouba that night with his wife and a friend, and was able to make it over just before the meet wrapped up. It was great to finally meet Paul in person after chatting with him online for over a year now. He was a real cutie, and just as funny as we knew him to be.
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/PFmeetshots.jpg
Since the MK was open late that night we decided to catch a bus back there, and walk to the room. We had to run for the Yacht Club bus, and were laughing like hyenas by the time we got on. We were sharing some funny stories, and as soon as our bus driver dropped the last passenger off at the Boardwalk, he started asking us about them. He was a real hoot! We chatted with him during the entire ride and found out that he was retired military and had been with Disney for only 4 months. I think he felt for these crazy ladies having to walk home from the MK bus stop, so he surprised us by changing his route and dropping us off right at the Contemporary. This is the type of magic that typically finds us when we take the time to be friendly to folks. Our group has several stories like this that we can share. It’s part of what makes us all love Disney so much.

Thanks guys! Holly, there are actually 7 days, so look for more. :D
Sunday December 7, 2003 - Late to bed and early to rise…this seemed to be the motto of this trip. I was bound and determined to get up early this morning, because I was co-hosting the Stop, Drop, and Roll Meet with BetsyAnn, and I wanted to be there in plenty of time. Amy and I got up and ready, but Trixy had hit the wall hard. Her feet were giving her a lot of problems, and she decided that she’d be better off to get a couple more hours of sleep that morning.
Amy and I caught the bus to MGM and they actually had the gates open before 9:00, we grabbed a locker to store our coats and stuff, because we’d come prepared to stay all day and all night. We headed on over to RnRC which was our set meeting place, and hooked up with all the other Taginators who were going to be dropping and rolling. People in attendance were Tagrel, Kristen, BetsyAnn, Elaine, Jimbolini, WillCAD, WDWDen, MargaretJ, Matt, SusanL, LimeGreenCheri, Stinkerbelle, and AmyA. We each grabbed Fastpasses, and then enjoyed a few trivia questions about the rides and the website for prizes. I gotta tell you that Matt is one sharp kid. He was eating everyone’s lunch by answering all the trivia questions right. I think if his mama hadn’t held him back he could have made a clean sweep. You brought that boy up right in the Disney Force, Margaret!
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/RnRC.jpg
We walked right on to Tower of Terror, and had so much fun chatting in the boiler room. We arranged with the CM to let us line up so we could have our entire group together on one side of the elevator for the group picture. This big sissy got lucky. I was worried about not having the lap bar to hold on to, but I got the front right seat which had a handle on the side which I grabbed on tight to with both hands. I do like the new seatbelts though, because you don’t have to get as much airtime if you don’t want. The ride was a blast!
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/TOT-Dec..jpg
That's us on the left side of the elevator. Notice my two hand hold
Next we headed over to use our Fastpasses for RnRC. I normally don’t do these two rides back to back. I like to give myself time to re-establish my sea legs, but I was a real commando today and went for it. I made it thru, but did feel a little queasy from that first inversion on. After the ride we parted ways. A few people were hungry, and going to breakfast, and a few of us needed to get some major MGM time in. Dennis wasn’t hungry, and was tired of touring alone, so he joined Amy and me on the rides. I’d met Dennis twice before in October 2002, and July 2003, but it was great to actually get to spend some more time with him. He is such a fun guy! :D
We did the Great Movie Ride and enjoyed the pleasure of sharing all the hidden Mickey, Minnie, and Donald’s that we’d learned about on our last trip, with Dennis. Trixy was up and in the park now, so we met her and enjoyed the Haunted Mansion Movie sets. I’d heard negative comments on this tour, and wasn’t expecting much, but I thought it was really good. I didn’t realize you got to see a film about the making of the movie too, and I was happy with the tour.
We were getting hungry now, so decided to have lunch at the Backlot Express. This was a nice break, and I finally got to enjoy some of those awesome Disney chicken tenders. After lunch we did the Muppet 3-D show, and enjoyed Moley’s secret lazy butt spot during the pre-show. Since Trixy hadn’t done drop and roll that morning we headed to the front of the park for repeated rides on ToT. I bowed out since my Bonine had worn off, but Dennis rode with them a few times before he left to go to the Dole Whip meet. I was amazed that there was no wait for this ride at 2:00 in the afternoon. It was great for them to get their fill of it, while I napped with my eyes open on a bench. 8)
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/touringwithDen.jpg
We had dinner coming up with PaulF, his wife Darcie, and their friend Lisa, but we had just enough time to take the Backlot Tour first. We enjoyed it, but it was really weird to see the Golden Girls house plowed under to make room for the Car Stunt Show. They also told us they were going to be adding scenes from San Francisco and Chicago on New York Street. They are currently doing the construction on that also.
We met up with Paul and company at Mama Melrose’s right at 4:30, and were able to be seated immediately. Paul had been a great friend of ours online for over a year now, but it was really cool to meet him in person. Darcie and Lisa were both beautiful, friendly, and had great senses of humor. After dinner I had an All Ears/DVC by Resale reception to attend, and then the Pleasure Island Meet, so I decided to head back to the CR, and change clothes. The rest of the gang enjoyed Fantasmic together, and then a drink at the BelleVue Room at the BW.
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/MamaMelrose.jpg
I got to the reception around 7:45, and saw a lot of the familiar faces I’d seen around the Big Meet. Tagrel and Kristen were there too, so I hooked up with them, and we talked a bit and toured the grand villa. Those units are amazing!!! It made me want to add on more points right then and there. I should have gone up and introduced myself to some of the authors and webmasters, but it’s just a little intimidating when you’ve seen their face on a book, or appreciated their website for years. I did get to meet Shontell and Maggie from DVC by Resale. They were both so friendly, and I’ll definitely be using their services when we add on points.
One really cool thing happened at the reception. Dave, Kristen, and I were on one of the three balconies enjoying the view, when Bob Sehlinger comes out and strikes up a conversation. It’s a lot easier to meet those folks when they start talking to you first. We were talking about his book, and how there are so many different ways you can choose to tour the parks. He admitted that it is definitely the “type A” personalities who take his info and run with it, but that most every group needed a leader like that. I asked him about the 42 attraction challenge, and he said the record was 9 hrs. 15 minutes to do all 42 attractions in the MK. Kristen wanted no part of the commando ways that would take, but said Dave and I welcome to give it a try, lol. Maybe that can be my marathon goal! Anyway, to prove that I was that true type A tourista…I whipped out my itinerary complete with clip art. Bob confirmed that I was a true type A, and we joked that I should print it up on shirts next year for my traveling companions. :P
It was time to head over to the Pleasure Island meet, and right after the valet brought the car, I spotted Amy saying goodnight to Paul, Darcie, Lisa, and Trixy. She was about to catch a bus to DTD, so Dave gave her a ride over with us. She had some shopping to do since she missed that in lieu of the ER Wednesday night. We made our way to the Adventurer’s Club and hooked up with BetsyAnn, Elaine, LimeGreenCheri, Stinkerbelle, and WillCAD. Most of us ordered a Kungaloosh, and then made our way into the library for the balderdash competition. My night was made when Handsome Hathaway Brown cozied up on my lap, and told me he’d be back.
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/maskroom.jpg
After that show we headed over to the Comedy Club for the 10:30 show. Dave and Kristen ran to get something to eat. Poor Kristen had been sick, and then she’d had the sleigh ride, and All Ears reception, so they really hadn’t had much food at all. The comedians were OK this night, but far from the best I’ve seen them do. I think they got a rough start due to a group of seven nurses who had a comedian amongst them. They were the ones that answered the phone to give info for the first skit, and they weren’t giving up anything. Tough crowd those nurses were.
http://members.aol.com/eguethlein/comedy.jpg
We had a little time before the midnight fireworks, so we hung out a bit in 8 Traxx. A small crowd assembled outside just before midnight and we did the countdown and fireworks to end the night. Once again I had a kind gentleman drop me off at the Contemporary, and I was down for my next stretch of 5 hour sleep.

DISNEYTASTIC report. Wish I learned how to add pictures to my report.
I can't believe we didn't meet while we were still at WL. We left Sat. 12/6 in the morning. It was great to meet you and I only wish I had made ressies for the following week but didn't know about Mousefest until after we made our ressies for 11/30 to 12/6.
The highlight of our trip was the Dole Whip Meet and FW Meet. Next was the Candlelight Processional and MVMCP.
I'm planning on a return trip next year (haven't discussed with DH yet but I'm hopeful).
You really got to do lots while on this trip and the report is great.
