Outer Banks, NC

We are heading to a family reunion in the outer banks of NC at Thanksgiving and are thinking of heading down a little early. Can someone tell me about activities for little kids (under 6 years) at that time of year? We will be staying at a rented house in Duck and having Thanksgiving dinner at Sanderling Inn.
