WillCAD: question about Canon Speedlite

IIRC you own a 430 EX, right? If you do, would you kindly check whether the slave function is IR, RF or Photosensor (detects the presence of other flash). I'd like to buy one as a slave flash.

Nope, I own the 220EX, the dumbest, er, simplest Speedlite in the series. It has no slave capability.

However, a quick Google search reveals that the 430EX is listed as a "wireless slave" that can be used with the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2, which is an IR transmitter, so the flash must be IR as well.

Thanks for the info Will. Flash in Canada is a rare breed. Not that they're difficult to find, but I can't test any of them, everything is special order :(

Darn! The 220 is no longer available for Canada. However, I've bought the 430EX and very happy with it so far.
