After checking for weeks and only finding outrageous rates, I checked Thrifty today and got a good rate of $130 including taxes and fees, for a mid-size car, Dec 6-11. That's with a promo code from Sams Club that got me a free upgrade, but the base rates aren't bad, either.
Thrifty is not in the terminal at MCO, but their facility is so close that the wait for the bus is rarely more than 10 minutes, and the actual ride is only 5. The facility is also close to the Bee Line Expressway (the northern route to WDW), and is very easy to find when returning your car.
Over the last few years, I have gotten the best deals on rental cars from either Thrifty or Alamo, using my Sams Club codes and coupons.

Will, the Thrifty location is actually on SR 436 aka Semoran (pronounced-
Sim-or-on) right before the Hertz location. Very convenient.
Glad to hear you got such a great rate! :)

I got a great deal with my Sam's discount on Alamo on Thursday for our trip to Orlando in 11 days - a compact for $100, and that is with tax and fees included! MUCH better than the rate at Budget I had booked last month when the cheapest I could find was $155! :yikes: It definitely saves to recheck all the discounts prior to leaving for vacation - you might save a tidy little bundle :)
Plus, I booked with Thrifty (at SNL airport) for the DL trip in Sept -- originally the SAMS discount brought it to $112 for 6 days, which I thought was a steal... rechecked yesterday after Alicia's post, and lo and behold, I have the same car for $64 now!!! :yahoo:

Thanks for the heads up - I had not booked my rental car for MouseFest yet. I'm pretty much hooked on the Emerald Aisle at National (love just walking out, grabbing a car and going! :car2:
Using my American Express contract ID (5125601) and a $10 coupon code (10009733) my rate is $135.95 for 12/7 - 12/11. Not as good as Thrifty, but not terrible!

Guess I should add booking a car to my list of things to do, huh? Course, it should be for the DL marathon in a few weeks first....
I have to say though, I will gladly pay a little extra to not have to shuttle off site. Shlepping bags around by myself is a major hassle.
Now if I was a big, strapping guy like Will, then no problem.
