I've got a 8 am PS for Donald's at the Animal Kingdom and a 5:15 pm at CP before our MVMCP. I'm thinking that I need to cancel Donald's. Two character meals in one day seems like a little much. Plus, we will have already visited AK and I'm thinking we could start the day at MGM instead. What do you think?

You asked, so here's my $.02. I have never tried 2 character meals in one day. Usually we do one per trip. I don't think I would really enjoy 2 in one day. First there is the time factor, waiting for all the characters to make their rounds. However, these are entirely 2 different sets of characters so it might be OK. How's that for a wishy-washy noncommital answer?

Overload! Overload! You have a long day ahead of you, a simpler breakfast in quiter surrounding might save you later in the day.

Okay, are you familiar with the Mr. Creosote sketch from Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life"? "Ees a WAHfer thin dinner mint...."

Well, to answer you question I definitely would NOT recommend doing two character meals in one day. Actually I'd be reluctant to do two sitdown meals in one day unless you go in with the specific agenda of eating very light for one of the meals.

I have to agree with VG, not that it wouldn't be fun, it would. But it would be a whole lot to eat in one day.

Start at MGM instead and get yourselves some of the excellent baked goods from Starring ROlls bakery as a quick but thoroughly enjoyable breakfast.

The outdoor seating of Starring Rolls is isolated and quiet, but right near the action, making it a perfect place to start your MGM day.

Well cheri:

As much as I'd like to try all the character meals, I think two in one day is too two much!

I have one character meal on my schedule for lunch at Epcot and hope to eat light at it (getting rehitched at Garden Grille). We have ressies for LeCellier later that night (DH's favorite). So, I plan to have two light meals that day.

In any case, you'll still have fun and so will your children. We did Donalds on our last visit for Dh's birthday and they were soo good and spent so much time with him it was a blast. Looking forward to our first time at Garden Grille (and see how DH reacts when he finds out Farmer Mickey is marrying us again!!).'

See you soon girlfriend. Hope you're all healed up and ready to take on the World!

I think 2 in one day would be too expensive too!! Most Character meals seem to be all you can eat and translates to very expensive. I thik I agree with the others. Id do one and then do WillCads idea about the bakery.

Cheri,
So you usually eat breakfast in room or a food court? That's what I'd do!!! I would hustle up some nice warm scrambled eggs (or whatever your breakfast pleasure is) at the resort food court grab an apple or box of pop corn for lunch and hit dinner hungry. That's just me but I try to optimize every food dollar whilr there.

All of the reasons given here are quite valid. I'll disagree in general and say, yes, keep both reervations and GO!! :D

Both meals are so different. They are both buffets so you don't have to eat a lot at each. You are paying more for these because you are paying for atmosphere and entertainment. Breakfast anywhere in Disney is not that much less than a full character breakfast.

If you cancel Donald's you lose out on being entertained by Santa Goofy, which is a seasonal thing there. You can stand in line  to see him at Camp Minnie Mickey, but that is horrific on the Lazy Butt Tour plan in comparison to having Santa Goofy visit you while you are comfortably seated while tasty food is before you.

Definitely keep the CP res because it strategically puts you in the park ahead of the crowd for MVMCP. When you are through dining with the Pooh family, you can stroll out to the atmosphere and festive bustle of the party, no turnstile crowd pressing around you.

If you can swing the extra dollars, stay with both meals. Now you've heard the counterpoint. Decision back to you. 8)

Cheri,

You know better than anyone how your family will deal with doing two meals. I personally don't think my kids would have any trouble with it.

My family was talking the other night about going to disney again hopefully this summer, and I asked where everyone would want to go to eat. The first place all three said was Donalds Breakfastasaurus. I'm also finding with having boys the ages mine are, these kids can pack away the food. So two big meals isn't to much for us.

You've got a lot of great opinions here, so now what will best fit for your family is the best answer.

I am anxious to hear all about your trip, and can't wait to hear about the restaurants you eat at. Tha is how I(we) make our choices.

Our next trip is more than a year away but we are looking at 2 char meals in one day - Christmas day! The kids said they definitely wanted to start the day at Chef Mickey's and I definitely want Liberty Tree Tavern for Christmas dinner. I don't think we'll eat much in the middle of the day except perhaps some ice cream. We may take a trip over to Beaches & Cream. What a wonderful day; sure wish it were this year rather than next!

I think this is definitely a YMMV kind of thing. We could never do two in one day. It isn't so much the time (we stay a long time -- 2 weeks this trip) or money (although that would be rather pricey). We just can't eat two big meals in one day. We tend to eat cereal or something like that for supper if we have a big lunch. So, for me, I would space out the meals so that I would be certain to enjoy them more. If your family is used to two or three sit down meals a day and if the character interaction in that atmosphere is what is most important to you, I say go for it.

We have done two character meals in one day, although we hadn't really planned to. We had a character breakfast at Donald's (a must for our family every trip!) and ended up having dinner at Garden Grill that evening. For us, it worked out fine. In fact, I hadn't even thought about the fact that we did two character meals in one day until I read your question!

For one thing, we just love character meals so we usually do at least 3 each trip. I try to spread them out, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way. The expense doesn't bother us, because other than character meals and a couple of other favorite sit-downs, we do mostly counter service. And all our breakfasts that aren't character meals we eat in the room.

As far as not eating that much - I've got two boys, need I say more? Most days we have two decent-sized meals with a light third meal. Works for us...
