ddoll, I saw this deal too, but it's restricted to Florida residents. "Passes must be purchased by 9/30/2006 and activated by 12/30/2006.
Must be a Florida resident to redeem. "

Well mousesavers has the code published and it only says to show your receipt when you pick it up to get the second year free. I saw what you're referring to Timon. I'm hoping I can get around it.(I'm so mad that I didn't buy the second year free AP's a couple of weeks ago when they were offered on the website with no strings)

Did somewhere here say BEALLS??????
I LOVE THAT STORE!!! :yahoo:
Unfortunatly, Debi you do have to be a Florida resident. When the kids went over to get theirs they had to show a seperate receipt along with a Florida drivers liscense for each person in the group.
My 14 and 15 year old showed their student ID's .
Nicholas did not get one as he and Mommy are diehards for the Mouse ;)
Man, the shopping I had to do just so everyone had their own Beall's receipt~
If anyone here is interested, www.beallsflorida.com (http://www.beallsflorida.com)
They have the best prices, carry some of the same name brands as JC Penney, have a really nice selection, and a flexible return policy. Although we also have Kohl's here, I STILL like my Beall's better!
Plus, they take all major credit cards including my fave, American Express~ :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
I want to note that I am not a Bealls employee, I do not even represent one on TV.

Well thank you for clarifying that Linda. :(
Oh well, I don't need it until December, so maybe another offer will come out before then.

I wish I had seen it then too. I would have jumped if for no other reason than to get the discount on the hotel. It still may be worth it for me since we'll be going again next year at least 1 week earlier than this year...maybe even a month earlier. Between the hotel discounts, free parking and the discounts at the restaurants and shops I figure it'll come close to, if not completely, paying for itself over two trips.

Ya know, Chris we could start up a business!! All we need now is a good digital camera, and a laminating machine for all those ID cards we'll have to make. ;) ;) ;)

Guys - just thought you should see this.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1173525
I posted this a few days ago. They are handing out the receipt code like candy at this site. The Beall's offer is shown on the Universal website, under both the Fla. resident page AND the "annual pass" page. I can't recall if the several threads that address this promo discuss the Florida residency clause or not - I think a few folks asked about it but were quickly told, "NOT an issue". Is the code (BEALLS06) the same as the one your family used, Snickerdoodlesmommy? Standard price on the AP page of US website for non-floridians was $179. I looked on the Florida resident page, but when I clicked the Bealls offer, it took me to the same AP info I had seen on the general AP page, so it's not like Fla residents get it at a cheaper price than the rest of us.
So as you can see - the Uni-sages of this other board advised me and many others - actually, they insisted - that we did NOT need a receipt. And certainly not a Fla ID. See the other thread that was referenced - more response of the same order, all about the Bealls code, all insisting, no receipt necessary. There's an even bigger unwieldy thread, several pages devoted to this there too. All saying the same thing - fear not, the two years are yours, Grashopper.
HOWEVER - being the complete chicken-butt that I am about things like this, LOL, I ponder if I should still pop in to Beall's on our drive down. We leave in less than 2 weeks, so unlike some folks, I'm at least within the necessary "purchase by" window of opportunity to make this work. But a Fla ID? Not a chance. Well, I will be sure to report whether or not I get "carded" at the gate, LOL. I look at it this way - I was going to buy an AP anyway - if I can get the extra year, it's gravy. If not - hey I tried! :p

I clipped this from the Universal AP site, under the Beall's promo site. Note the restrictions posted in red.
RESTRICTIONS
Passes must be purchased by 9/30/2006 and redeemed by 12/30/2006. Expiration date of passes will be two (2) years from date of first use
Bealls Department Store receipt must be dated 5/19/2006 thru 8/31/2006.
Pass will automatically activate on 12/30/2006. Pass valid for two years from date of activation.
No other discounts, promotions or coupons including the Flexible Payment Option may be used with this offer
Valid on new purchases of the 2-Park Preferred Annual Pass only. Not valid on previously purchased Annual Passes or renewals
Not valid for separately ticketed events such as Halloween Horror Nights or Rock the Universe
Discounts are valid through pass expiration date and benefits cannot be combined with other discounts
Limit six (6) passes per transaction
Must be a Florida resident to redeem
Free parking is not valid on your first visit to the parksHotel stay discounts based on availability and some blackout dates apply. When you purchase your non-transferable pass online you'll receive a ticket, which can be used for admission at the front gate of either theme park. Once inside the park, proceed to the Vacation Services Center at any time (during your first visit) to have your photo taken and receive your annual pass. For pass renewals, please call 1-866-PASS-4-FUN (1-866-7277-4386). Pass upgrades must be completed inside the park at the Vacation Services Center.
So as noted, the promo is INTENDED for Fla residents, with a Bealls receipt in hand. All I can figure is that those on the inside of US/IOA know that it isn't really enforced, or there's a generous loophole? Can't imagine what stink will evolve if/when US decides to fully excercise the restrictions. Some folks would not have bought the AP without that extra year, and they are gonna be ticked if they get denied!
Caveat Emptor, I guess. Worst thing that will happen to me, they will apply my 179 towards a single year pass. Best case scenario, I'll get the 2 yrs. So long as there's no "Didn't Follow the Orders and Thought She COuld Pass As a Floridian" dungeon somewhere in the bowels of US/IOA that might cause me to miss my meal at NBA Cafe, I'l be otay! And like I said, I'll be sure to post how it goes for us! Cuz we SHO don't live in Florida....

I like that idea I've got two pieces of property (or will by the time of the trip) BCV and OKW.
Do you have a laptop? I don't think you'll be home by the time I leave and I'd like to know if you get the two years.

I'll have my laptop with me - probably won't fire it up too often, but I'm sure I could get at least ONE post on the board stating my success / failure, LOL!
Speaking of which - between HRH and OKW - what net service do they have, and what should I expect to pay? Cracks me up how some of these places charge you for ethernet, when every single place I stay in for business gives it to you for free. Including that fairly nice Hilton Grand Vacations Club over near the Prime Outlets. All fo' free....

As for "when" I could get word to you - I'd say I could get a response out by Aug 10. IS that enough time?
Hey, push comes to shove, gimme your phone # - I'll leave you a message from Orlando!
BTW - I re-poseted over at the "other" board that some folks have been "carded" upon entry for receipts and ID. I'll let ya know what posts come back to that....

There are several locations. My personal fave is the one at the corner of John Young and Sand Lake Rd.

I hunted down the Universal fansite, IOA Central... and there is a picture of the flyer that claims you need to show proof of residency. I'm not seeing where people are saying the Universal site claims you don't need to be a resident.
http://www.ioacentralboards.com/index.php?showtopic=8986&pid=150676&st=0&#entry150676
When you buy an AP at Universal, you have to go through Guest services where they take your picture and print up your pass. I would think that would be the point where you'd need to show an proof of residency.
I'm so tempted. The cheaper 1 year pass, with black out dates, no parking and no discounts is $120, which would then cost $240 for 2 years.

Well, we (or at least I) will know soon enough, right?

FWIW - the same person posting on the thread you gave, Robin, was posting on the one I gave. And by the way - the folks at the "other" site responded to my query - check out the most recent responses::
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1173525
I am guessing that it is an internet loophole - possibly not unlike the one at DisneySHopping.com when some of us got double discounts applied. Or maybe it's just a loophole they don't feel like patching - they figure, what skin is it off their neck if it get a few more folks to buy an AP? In our case, I have to admit - without that extra year on the AP, I probably wouldn't make an effort to get back down there within the year... so giving me the extra year would be moolah in the bank for them - one extra year of an AP would net them 4 more tickets, a few more nights in an on-site hotel, unspeakble volumes of food and doo-dads, LOL... I suppose if they get rough with me, I should sell them on these finer points!
In any case - according to some folks in the know (and I have to say - some of those responding saying DO IT - you'll be fine - are Univesal Gods of Knowledge and the Inside Scoop), it would appear that IF you buy your AP online and do the kiosk thingy, you will NOT need a receipt OR a Florida ID. On the other hand, IF you go to buy it at the counter - you will need a code / receipt. But sounds like one receipt is good for your party? And so now,k you don't even purchase, you just grab a flyer at Bealls? What's with that? What does Bealls even get out of this deal anyway? I say they goofed - haad they simply allowed internet receipts to count, and all folks who cared to act on it were allowed - they would have done a LOT more business, all the way around (Bealls AND Universal!) FOlks who got other (cheaper) passes might have instead moved over to APs... stayed longer... come back again... who knows the untold revenue, LOL.
One thing is certain - it's all VERY confusing, eh....

Well, I think some folks aren't clicking on the "for more info, click here" tab. The general announcement DOESN'T say anything about Fla resident. And if you go under the Fla resident page, it takes you straight over to the AP page you see WITHOUT going into Fla resident (rather than vice-versa). It's only if you ask to read the fine print that you see it. Ain't that always the way, LOL.

And that's how I feel too - I can see getting past the kiosk...through the gate - it's the whole activation thing that concerns me, LOL. But I'm just gonna plow ahead on my faith and a phantom (er... phamton, that is!) and see how this all turns out! WISH ME LUCK! :)

Phamton would know. A few of us know her.
What I think confused me, was I figured you bought a one year pass, and with proof the 'upgraded' it to a 2 year.
What it sounds like it actually does, is allow you to purchase a 2 year pass, for the cost of a one year.
Since it's done at purchase, only if you purchase in person, can they check or ID, receipt or anything else.
BTW, if you pick your ticket up at the kiosk, be sure to bring the same credit card you purchased it with. That's how their system identifies you.

TELL ME ABOUT IT! I was in Orlando on a VERY ill-fated business trip (literally - I checked in at the Hilton GV Club at 11 pm, and was up with a WICKED stomach flu at 5 am... UGH! ) Anyway, I had the bright idea that while I was there, I could pick up my Universal passes at the kiosk. Had my confirmation number with me, yup. BUt I left the stinkin' credit card that I bought the things with back in my car at the airport some 15 hrwsw away (did that purely by accident - actually, not knowing where it was, I was afraid it had been stolen, so the tix were the least of my issues until I found the bugger in the floorboard of my car 5 days later!)
ANYWAY - no pickin' up tix THAT trip. :(
You can bet yer bippee I'm takin my Card THIS time! I may forget everything else... toothbrush, clean undies... but I'll HAVE THAT CARD! (hey - I could always get the stuff I forgot over at Beall's right?!? )

UPDATE: Just got back from vacation so I'm too pooped to type much, but just HAD to say: the AP WORKED JUST FINE. The Phamton knows all, LOL.
Pciked up my tix Tues night, no lines ,no sweat. Then the next day, caem right through the gate, straight to guest services, took my pic, and the AP says it is good until 8/08/08. Never showed a Bealls, never showed a DL. Couldn't have been easier. Can't wait to tally up the savings... once I recover from the travel and SERIOUS post-vacation depression, that is!
(Me, on vacation with-drawal... NOT pretty... )
At least with this 2 yr AP we know we will be back! Gotta make the most of it, right?!?
