my dh doesn't own a pair of dress shoes (we don't get out much). he does have sneakers that are all black that look nice. will that be acceptable to wear to dinner, he has the proper dress clothes, just not the shoes. he's stressing & i told him i'd ask. thanks in advance!!

I honestly don't ever remember noticing people's shoes too much. Either I'm not that observant or noone stuck out. I will say I did notice men and women wearing sandals at dinner. The restaurants are very laid back. Lots of mean wearing shorts and women wearing capri's, skirts, etc.

The only time my DH wears pants and a shirt/tie was for Palo(and maybe Triton's and Lumiere's). I would say that nice black sneakers would be fine if that's what he has and is comfortable in. Noone is going to "throw him out" if he doesn't have "dress shoes" on.

Even in Palo where I thought that it was dress shirt, tie, pants for men I saw 1 guy with a hawaiian shirt(no tie) and another couple w/jeans and a solid t-shirt!!:yikes:

Tell him to wear what he wants and he (and you) will have a great time!!

Go for it. With the shoes being so dark, who would notice? No worries from here on out. The cruise is almost here! :bounce:

:D  OK, so when I saw the "shoes for dinner?" I had this picture in my mind of someone fishing and bringing up an old shoe.....

But......I've been reading my cruise documents and I don't recall them saying anything about footwear. Only about pants, shirts, dresses, pantsuits etc. for dinner and requesting no shorts or Tshirts at dinner.

So sandals with pants - sounds good to me!

On my last Disney cruise, I actually saw them escort a man out of Parrot Cay b/c he was wearing sneakers! He put up a valiant fight and it took 3 waiters and a chef to drag him out!! Needles to say, the next night, I saw NO sneakers!!;)

Good luck to you guys and enjoy the rest of your planning.:D

Actually, I've worn flip flops to dinner. Just don't tell anyone!:boyears:

Have a great trip guys.

I've only cruised with DCL once and it seemed that they were pretty lax about enforcing the dress code. But just on the offhand chance that he encounters the same bunch of militant CMs that WDWDen described, is there any chance you could talk him into buying a pair of black loafers? You can usually pick up a pair for around $20 bucks at an outlet store. Just a thought.

Similiar thought here. I was thinking how I prefer something a little more tender.

I've read the chefs on the cruise ships can be very accomodating for special diets....
