Cheap Car Rental

I was himming and hawing over whether or not to rent a car for my trip. I made a list over pros and cons.

Pro:
Needed to go to/from concert
Not dealing with Magical Express (Bleh! TM Lisa)
Can get to other resorts in less time
Keep tripod in car
No screaming children/crabby parents on bus

Cons:
Cost
Gas

I plugged in a bunch of discount codes from MouseSavers and the Entertainment Book on Hertz, Budget & Avis. They were do-able but I wondered if I could beat those rates with Priceline and so I gave it a whirl. I'm happy to say that for 6 days, renting from MCO for a compact car I'm paying with taxes & fees: $107.16. The $12/day offer was picked up by Avis. I saved $52.74 over the WalMart code on MouseSavers for the same car at Avis. :girlears: I saved more than that had I used the Ent Book.

That's great, Lisa. I'm thinking of getting a car for August, and never thought to look into Priceline. :confused: :confused:

Now that's some good shopping. :clap: I would be amazed if you beat that rate. Maybe gas prices will be down a little by then. I do think the pros outweigh the cons. You will be very glad you have the car since you have so many needs for it.

I use PL for hotels lots, but only once for a car and it was in Orlando. It was a great deal. I wonder if car rentals are down lately, because PL has been sending me offers on car rental specials the last few weeks.

I always use L&M when I go. They always have the cheapest rates (without doing the code hunt -- others may be cheaper if you priceline/coupon code/etc) However, I REALLY love that L&M never nave a line. That is worth an extra 5 or 10 bucks right there.
