This website actually won a Webby, an award for it innovative design. It is a little clunky, but an interface like this could only be done with a CD and special programming years ago.

The site really makes me want to go on this ship (I have never cruised). I wonder what the private Deck costs to go on?

Interesting word on that Webby, Ken. Thanks for posting it! I wondered what that ultimate suite costs, too. :eyelove:

Moley, et al!! First of all - I am just so impressed that you remembered that I was sailing on that ship!! Thanks so much for sending me that link. I will tell you all that I was in my office in Manhattan last Friday (my office faces west, toward the Hudson River, when that beautiful ship sailed up the river. Now, to say I was excited is an understatement!!!!! I was screaming - hello!! hello!!! I'll be seeing you soon!!! (if I'm not institutionalized by my coworkers first!!)

I tried to include a picture of what I saw from my office window - I was unsuccessful - if I figure it out, I'll post it!!

Anyway, yes, FOS has generated tremendous publicity - both locally and nationally - a big segment on the Today show, an anatomy of the ship in USA today, etc.

Hey, Dennis, there are still cabins available on my sailing (Aug 13) In fact, that applies to everyone here!! Please come join me!!

Well everyone, I had to chop it off on top and bottom, but finally got this photo to a size that the site would accept!! Great view, huh??

Wow, great shot Lisa!!! That is your view from work?? Man, I really need a new job!! ;-)

Thanks for the invite, I would love to join ya'll, unfortunatley, I'm already booked on the Explorer of the Seas on June 30 for 10 awesome days!!:D Unless of course, they give me an offer I can't refuse while onboard my cruise!! ;-)

Hey, were sailing out of Bayone, NJ(or however you spell that). Is that the same river you see out your window?? I'm hopeing to see the Statue of Liberty at the port, but I"m not sure. Gimmie some details girl.

You are going to have a great time - that ship looks wonderful!

Yes, Dennis - it's all in the same vicinity. You are leaving from Bayonne, NJ - essentially the Jersey side of New York Harbor, which is the mouth of the Hudson River. The shot that I took is about 30 blocks north of the southern tip of Manhattan, so just north of Bayonne as well. Of course, I was on the NY side of the Hudson.

I have no doubt that you will see the Statue of Liberty when you sail- she is sitting right there in the NY Harbor - It is an awesome sight from the water!!!

We came soooooooooooooo close to doing the Explorer of the Seas from Bayonne - in fact we were about to book when I heard about the Freedom and since my motto is "go big or stay home", we decided to book on the biggest cruise ship ever!! But many friends have done your cruise and LOVED it!! We wouldn't have been on your sailing, but were looking at the one after it - I think it sails in mid-July.

In any case, have a wonderful time - I'll look forward to hearing about it!!

If anyone has any advice about excursions ( my son is dying to snorkel) I would love to hear it!!

 Go big or stay home is a great motto!

I don't know what excursions are being offered. We did some snorkeling along with petting the sting rays at Grand Cayman. We truly enjoyed that. So if you have a chance to, I say go for it on the snorkeling.

What a great shot of that beautiful ship! I know trip reports aren't always easy to write when you are getting back to work and all, but I sure hope you have a chance to post a few things and impressions.

And if you do the surfing onboard.....Dudette, we need pictures.

Moley - will a photo of my 12 year old son be OK on the Flowrider? I'm afraid that if I posted one of me, it wouldn't meet "decency standards" because I suspect my backside will be facing up quite a bit!!!!!

:lmbo: Yeah, the 12 year old is just fine. :lmbo:

Tink, what is that outside the Promenade room's window?

Did they tell you the price of the Family room?

How cool is this ship:cool:

Outside the Promenade window is.........The Promenade. LOL

In the public area pictures, where it looks like a street with shops, that is the promenade. They have a parade there and you can sit on your window seat and watch. I thought those rooms were really cool.

The ship is HUGE. I would call it the "comfy shoes cruise" since you need to walk to a lot of places. There were 2800 on our sailing (ship holds 4200 at full occ.) and I never once felt crowded. I know that with kids, you cannot go wrong booking this ship.

I forget the price of the Family suite that holds 14, but later tonight I am going to be pricing some RCCL for a client and will take a look to see what it runs at. (frankly, I thought it would be small for 14-unless you really got along. Would be great for 8 or so IMHO)

I'm so excited! I just booked our family on the Freedom of the Seas for the April 22 sailing! We sailed on Royal Caribbean Voyager in April 2005, and our family had the best time ! We will be celebrating my hubbys 50th bday in Feb, and our 20th anniversary in May, so we thought we would splurge and take a cruise on the awesome new Freedom during our April vacation!
The trouble was, it's such a popular ship, there were no balcony rooms to be had, and we really didn't want an inside cabin. we decided to go on the Explorer instead...still a beautiful, awesome, fun-filled ship! All the Voyager class ships are unbelievable!
They were holding our rooms on the Explorer until today, and yesterday I decided to log on to the Royal Caribbean site to double check the Freedom one more time, and 3 balcony rooms had opened up!!! I quickly called and grabbed 2 of them (my sister and her fiance are coming with us), and an inside cabin directly across the hall for my teenagers!

I remembered that LisaS was cruising on the Freedom, and came here to check how she liked it, and found that she was actually sailing on the day my balcony rooms magically became available!
I can't wait to find out how she liked it!!!

mommyfin - We just came off of the FOS yesterday YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT!!!!!! And I would sail it again, even in an inside cabin - they are lovely too. We sailed with 3 families and we had a balcony room; they all had inside rooms. I can tell you that you will not be sorry that you are going on this ship - there is something for everyone - We had six adults and a 16 yr old, a 15 yr old, a 14 yr old, a 12 yr old and a 9 yr old. Each group had a blast - the two older girls made tons of friends and enjoyed the independence they had on board. The 14 and 12 are boys and they also had lots of independence and loved the sports (flowrider included) the pools, the arcade, and the pizza!!! We adored the spa, the casino, the shows and the drinks!!!! The ship is spotless and you never feel like there are 4000 people on board! Very few lines - they are really organized!! The appointments on the ship are very elegant and beautiful; the service is top notch and the entire trip is relaxing and exciting at the same time. We loved it so much that we are booking the Liberty of the Seas for next year!!

So, I am jealous - you only have 8 months to go!!!! Join Cruisecritic.com (hope I'm allowed to say that here) and get all of the latest info!! And ask me anything you want to know - I wil enjoy reliving the experience!! (I'll be away on business the rest of this week, so I won't write back until Friday!)

Will try to post some pix over the weekend - Meanwhile, I have been away for 4 straight weeks (business and pleasure) so no time to write a report - I can answer specific questions, though, if you have any!!
