My wife and M-I-: are heading to Orlando for 4 days. Which Universal park would you recommend if they like rides?

Island of Adventures is a Thrill Type Park. Lots of spinning, soaking & slamming rides. Also has great Roller Coasters. If they like Thrill Rides this is the park for them. I prefer Universal Studios.

There are some good rides at Universal Studios, specifically Men In Black and Back to the Future. However, the colorful theming of Islands of Adventure wins out for ride lovers. Spidey is state of the art in simulator rides, really not even a simulator, a one of a kind experience. And my very favorite is Cat in the Hat. What's not to love about a ride where you board a couch? Add to that a lovely meal at Mythos, a near 5 star restaurant right in an amusement park. Goddesses serve you, as it should be on all our vacations!

Tell your dear wife and Mommy In Lawful to have a good time. SG, is that you? If so, give a hug to Joshua from me, too. Your family rules in my book. Hope you are all doing well and vacation days ahead are a delight for all who go. God bless and have fun! :D

We loved the assortment of rides and shows at Universal Studios...

Terminator 3D is a show not to be missed, in my opinion...

Our favorite ride was MIB.

Twister and Earthquake were also really good... Twister is more of a show whereas Earthquake is a ride show...

There is a lot more to do too!

From what I understand, the other side has more thrill rides...

Whatever you choose, have fun!

Welcome Dee!

It is really hard for me to choose between the two. I would hate to miss either Men In Black or Cat in the Hat, both in separate parks. I would say, that whatever park you choose, you can have a good day's worth of fun with no regrets. :)

Thank you, Moley and Barbara for the welcomes!

I am happy to meet the aquaintance of another Red Sox fan! It is looking good for this year! Whatever happens, it is going to be good!

I wanted to add, sqandfamily, that when we were in Unilversal a couple of weeks ago that there was a special pass that you could purchase that would allow you access to both parks in the same day. I cannot recall the price of the pass, but it wasn't much more than that of a regular pass... Although I doubt that you would be able to hit everything in one day, you would be able to see the best of both worlds! If you are lucky enough to go there during longer park hours you may be able to make a good dent in each park....

Have fun and let us know how you make out!

Both of the Universal Parks are fun, but if you are after thrill rides and roller coasters, IOA is more for you.
Still, IMHO, nothing will ever compare to WDW.

For rides I'd agree with Islands of Adventure...

I'm going to Universal Studios when I go down because last time we went to Islands of Adventure (with a 4 year old) we left after 2 hours... all thrill rides and nothing she'd go on. We were also very disappointed with the way it was run -- staff definitely not as friendly and professional as they are at WDW. This year we going back to Universal Studios because my now 6 year old is a Nickelodean and Shrek fan but if I had my choice I'd stay in WDW.
