So you have a hotel room at Disney during the magical Christmastime of the year! The hotel lobbies are alll beautifully decorated with trees and lights and song, but your room is just the same ol' room as when you were there in the middle of July!
How would you decorate your hotel room in order to bring a bit of the holidays inside?

Maybe one of the small trees all decorated and put on the dresser or a table, some garland on the dresser, some clings on the mirrers(hehe) and any windows and maybe even try to put something on the outside of the door (within fire code) ... Wow that sounds like fun..lol

Well since I have been there for Christmas the last two years I can tell you exactly how I would decorate.
The first year we went camping at FtW and brought our Christmas lights and stockings. We also had a few other decorations that we stuck inside the tent (Mickey Snowman). People decorate unbelievably at FtW at Christmas. They bring those big blow up Santas, etc.. One person brought an artificial fireplace and hung their stockings up there. Lights galore. That was just the people with tents. We saw one cabin that looked like the people lived there. They put all the lights on the edges like you would see at someone's house. They also had Christmas tree on the porch.
This doesn't have to do with decorating but it did make the place even more festive than if we had been at a hotel. At every room at Disney they leave a little bag with candies on your door on Christmas Eve. At FtW it was even better because they came around in a horse drawn wagon with jingle bells and the CMs dressed in Christmas hats and stopped at each site with the bags. We had arrived on Christmas Eve and were setting up our tent, so we were lucky enough to catch this scene.
Last year we didn't camp but stayed in a hotel. We bought one of those small fiber option Christmas trees. It is about 2 1/2 ft tall. We set it up on our table in the room. We also brought our stockings there too. I don't think we did any other decorating though.
When you are there over Christmas you will notice different windows or balconies at the various hotels that people have put up lights. It is nice to see, but it in no way compares to the decorating that you see from the people at FtW.

What lovely thoughts! I was thinking of contacting the Disney florist and seeing if they could do something festive and yet island-themed for my room at the Poly. We got flowers for my mom's room for Mother's Day one year and it really made for a special feeling! :D

Rosebud, I felt like I was there with you! Great ideas - in fact, it makes me want to take a little (or long) walk over to the campsites just so that I can see the decor!
Miss B, perhaps they will be able to get their hands on some poisettias. While in Hawaii, it was very popular to make Poinsettia trees (stacking them in a tree shap) with a few white lights around each of the bases. That would be pretty!
I was thinking of bringing a small tree, I am just hesitant of packing too much. Perhpas we will send one down. (??)

Suzy you could always send it down ahead of time or if you have a car buy a cheapie one when you get in. If doing Limo Service maybe there would be a cheapie one you could buy during your Grocery stop.
Rosebud the FW area sounds really cool at Christmas. That was how the Treehouses were decorated 2 years ago. I was mad at myself for not getting my camera out in time to get pictures taken on the way back from Downtown Disney to Port Orleans.

It would be worth a trip to the campsites just to see the decorations. sounds really cool!

Suzy, thanks for the inside scoop on the holidays in Hawaii! I do believe a poinsettia with white lights would be just the thing!

I'd have to find one of those rare, exotic, prized, "major award" dancing girl leg table lamps...like they have in "A Christmas Story"...and place it in the window of my room. And I'd keep it turned on at night for all outside to see and enjoy, too.
Now, they even sell a string of lights to go with the large table version!!

Who could resist feeling merry with all that? 8)
