I had booked 2 tickets with Northwest Airlines for a trip to Charleston SC in January online (one with points, one on a charge card) for DD#3 and myself . I got an E-mail while out of town that they have changed their flights and we can no o longer use the tickets as we have to arrive before the new arrival time. I am going to call today to find out what I can do- does anyone here know what I can expect? Will this be a no way they can fix for me and I'm out the points and $ or can they transfer me to another carrier? I just want to know what to expect when I call.
Thanks-

I have found that airlines are pretty accomodating. I imagine that your worst case scenario is that they will credit the tickets for future travel or on another, comparable flight.
Unless there were no "subject to change" conditions (which there usually are on air tickets) I have not heard of an airline allowing you to use your booking on another airline for travel. Usuall they just do the credit.
I don't think that you will be out any money or points, you just may have to have them "saved" for another trip. (like to WDW!!)

Airline rules have changed a lot since I worked for them many years ago. However if the Airline changes your times they will usually work with you to put you on another flight that will accomodate the times you need or in unable will refund tickets. It has to be an inconvenience though, 5 minute changes will not work. Good luck

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. I had to have the tickets refunded and will probably end up driving since the cost of 2 tickets is prohibitive and I can't find an airline DH has miles on that will get us there when we need to be there. I'll pick his brain when he gets home on Sunday and hope for the best.
