How about some MouseFest discussion - Start with: Park Days?

OK - its time to start thinking MOUSEFEST! :mickeyXmas:

The MouseFest committee is currently in discussion over many things, but one that has historically affected us is Park Days.

The Official MouseFest Park days have historically been:

Thursday: MK and MVMCP that night
Friday: AK
Saturday: Epcot with the Mega Meet at the Swolphin
Sunday: MK
Monday: MGM

OUR days have historically been:

Thursday: MVMCP
Friday: MGM
Saturday: Epcot with the Mega Meet at the Swolphin
Sunday: MK
Monday: AK

Which switches around our MGM and AK days from the official days.

So, its decision time again. Last year we voted to do MGM on Friday and AK on Monday. More people wanted to fit in MGM and would be gone by Monday when it was scheduled.

First we'll discuss it a bit...

A few points:
It would be great to stick to official MouseFest park days because that makes it easier for everyone to do other site meets if they so choose.
We can have more of our meets listed in the pocket-guide
With Expedition Everest opening this year, a meet or two in the AK on Friday could be awesome! :yes:Anyway, this is the place to weigh in with your thoughts and ideas. Lets hear what you all have to say! Later we can have another vote.

I want to go to an EE(Expedition Everest) meet, no matter what. So I think having an AK day for Friday would get the most of us there for a TagEEnator get together. It seems so many of us leave by Monday morning, that it wouldn't happen if we wait to have AK day for Monday.

What would we do with our traditional Stop Drop and Roll? MGM is getting easier to do in an afternoon. We could have Stop Drop and Roll on a Thursday, before the Mickey party or it could be an option on a Friday or Sunday afternoon.

My personal vote is to go with the Mousefest flow and make AK our Friday park, at least for early morning and a date with a Yeti. :peri:

I see there are two MK days. If folks are worried about Stop, Drop and Roll, could that be done Sunday morning, and then everyone heads over to the MK to meet up with the rest of the Mousefesters?

MGM is my favorite park so . . . I don't know! maybe I'll just have to spend more time there for the marathon. I'm willing to go with the flow on MGM for mousefest. I'll be leaving sunday I'm sure. Of course our school schedule for next year would allow for a VERY long marathon trip (if I can afford it).

My preference would be to follow the official MF schedule - especially for the AK day. The other AK meets that I really enjoy and missed last year are Deb Wills Safari meet and Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickey meet. Both are really fun meets.

If majority leave on the Monday then maybe we could have our MGM day on the Sunday so that we can all Stop Drop & Roll together.

I'm gonna vote against the majority here and say I'd prefer to keep our own schedule. I like having our own Stop Drop and Roll meet, and I'm really not a fan of HUGE meets. I like the size of our own group where we can actually see and talk to our friends.

And outside of EE, I can skip AK altogether. I'd prefer to have our own Tag meet for EE and not post all our meets to the general public. There are more and more of us Taginators every year without adding extras.

My vote is to go with MF schedule. I also missed Steve and Deb's meets at AK.

I dearly loved stop drop and roll, so maybe we can do another day. Maybe Wednesday since most of us are not going on the cruise.(Or do I speak too soon?)

Dave, if the days are thru Monday, why does the schedule include Dec 12, Tues?

Gee, I lean toward both possiblities! Like following the official schedule, but also agree with ddoll about the nice size of our Meets.

It's a bit of a dilemma for me, but I'll be happy with whatever the majority decides. Heck, I'll just be happy to be there again and see so many friends :D

Seems lots of folks cannot go for more than a long weekend, so that might make a difference in our Meets and schedule as well.

Do we want to be able to attend mostly Taginator Meets or be able to join in all the MF Meets?

I don't mind either way. I won't be attending other site's meets so that doesn't effect me. I do want to hit EE and the Stop, Drop & Roll meets so I hope that the schedule allows for them. We didn't get up in time for the SDRM last time. :( However you were all still there getting ready to take pictures when I arrived. I actually walked between the camera people and the people posing and no one noticed (TWICE). :lol: I don't think I could get away with that this year. ;)

Last time was my first trip to Disney so I was less concerned with meets and more concerned with the parks, this time I'll be tagging along with taginators until you can't stand it. ;)

If we go with non-official days does this make the crowds that much different? Last time we hit decent crowd levels at all but the AK which was uncomfortably full.

No way would you get away with it now, Brian. Your face has been plastered all over Disney. Everyone knows you know. And if you even TRY to not hang with us, we'll hunt you down.

I'd like to stick with the official days, too.

I was able to spend a lot more time with my friends from other boards in 2005, and attend a lot more non-Tagrel meets too, because so much of our schedule matched the official days. But there were several meets and functions that I missed in favor of Tagrel meets - not because they happened at the same time, but because they happened in different parks.

Please keep in mind that many Taginators are members of other communities like the Passporter and DIS boards and like to mix with our friends from those boards.

And also keep in mind that just because MouseFest encourages mixing doesn't mean that EVERY meet hs to be open. I have encouraged my Taginator buddies to mix it up a little with folks from other communities, but I also think that some of our meets like Stop Drop and Roll and Brunch at the Ball should alays be Tagrel-specific and not printed in the Pocket Guide. But matching our days to the official days makes it a lot easier for those of us who want to attend general MF meets to do so without having to spend hours on busses hopping from park to park.

Since I am not a fan of any other major sites, I will be at all the Taginator events wherever they may be. So, however you all fit everything I want to do in the Thur-Sun time frame works for me :coolSmile:

Partial weigh-in -- I like AK on Friday since we would leave on Sunday afternoon. An EE meet sounds great :) I have yet to make it to ANY SDR meets at MGM through no fault of my own, something always happens - maybe I am just not destined to be there :shrug:

Anywho, plan away... just let me know if you need any host volunteers 8)

I'm not a fan of AK (sorry MommaLinda) so the only reason for me is EE :D I like MGM on Friday it was fun and so nice to spend quiet time with just us Tags :D

But that said I'll not buck the system if the decision goes the other way :D

I LOVE this idea! We could hit AK early on Friday for EE, maybe Dinosaur for those who want a ride photo, ITTBAB for those who don't like thrill rides. I think Deb Wills traditionally hosts a safari meet too which would be great fun.

I'd love to then head over to MGM for lunch and then Drop & Roll. Maybe some of the late risers could make it that way. :lol: I'd love to hang out there until I headed back to the room to get ready for dinner and the gift game.

I can do AK and MGM as 1/2 day parks on short weekend trips like this.

Alicia ~ thank you!! This sounds just perfect! I've been rattling it aorund in my head trying to figure how how much I might fit in if I'm able to go this year. Sicne it will likely be the long weekend won't have as many days.

In the poll I voted for following the official Mousefest park days. If you run another poll and the above is an option, that'd be my vote for sure. It seems like a great way to follow the official days, for everyone to try Everest, and still get that Drop & Roll time in that we've all grown to love.

Since so many come in on Thursday morning and leave Sunday afternoon/early Monday, it's hard to get a full day in each park that everyone can make. Doing this could help everyone to do their favorites, I think.

Can you do a stop drop and roll meet in the afternoon? I thought the reason for doing it in the morning was to be able to grab fastpasses that would be used right after the ToT? Won't going later in the day make the wait in the ToT line and the fastpass return time for RnRC much longer?

This is by no means is an indication or a commitment by me that I'm going, but if I were to go I would be leaving late on Sunday which means that sticking to the regular schedule would mean I wouldn't get to the Studios and that just would not happen. My vote, if it means anything, is to do the Studios (SDR) on Friday. I agree with ddoll. Risking going to the studios in the afternoon makes going on TOT and RnRC together tougher than doing it at rope drop.

I'm for going with the Mousefest schedule, but as others have said, I mostly do Tagrel meets. I do like to do the Safari meet with Deb Wills. I missed it the last two years. But, this next December I plan on being at WDW for 6 days.

Haven't been on the boards since the change, and didn't vote in the poll. I'm thinking of doing both the cruise and land portions of MouseFest this year. I agree with ddoll and Timon in keeping SDR in the morning. For me, AK is good for EE, Flame Tree BBQ and possible Tusker House. I'd love to do the Safari meet with Deb Wills.

I support WillCAD's idea to mix it up a bit at MouseFest, but it's important to be careful not to stretch yourself too thin, or to sign up for three different meets that are at the same time.

Although I check out other sites Tagrel is my main site so I would go with the majority on the park days. If I get to go this year I would most likely be going in the afternoon on Monday. I enjoy all the parks so I will be checking out whether we have a meet there or not.
