Please share with me your Top 3 choices for Counter Service and Table Service. What kind of meals are they, and why do you like them?

Thanks Suzy, but you are in the wrong room - or world. This is the Disney LAND room. I was questioning about DL. At first I was thinking "cool, they have Restaurant Marakesh", but then Tusker House, and I became suspicious! Thanks anyway.
I'm actually asking for a reason, to give my DD ideas for her trip. She has never been to DL and her roommate only 1x. Actually they will probably do more CS, but just in case I thought I'd check for sit down choices too.

TS-
Goofy's Kitchen - Breakfast - great variety of food and characters do the Macarena!
Storytellers - Breakfast - great omelet station
- my 3rd has been gone for sometime - Soap Opera restaurant in DCA now it's Playhouse Disney
CS-
Riverbelle Terrace - love the BBQ chicken and cornbread for lunch/dinner and the Steamboat for breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, and 3 pancakes)
Boudin in DCA - Brocolli cheese soup in a bread bowl - yum!
Tie between Ranco Del Zolcalo and French Market - though Rancho has recently changed menus so not sure about now, but love the beef stew in a Bread bowl at french market, yep I like the bread bowls! DH likes the French dip sandwich here as well
TS
Blue Bayou-DL
Plaza Restaurant-DL (akin to Crystal Palace at WDW, but no characters)
Ariels Grotto-CA
CS
These were problematic for us as there are not as many around as there are at WDW. WE liked the variety in the warf area in CA. It seemed that they had a touch of everything in there, even adult libations  . In DL, we just hit what was close and none really stuck in our heads. I still miss Captain Hooks Sponsored by StarKist Tuna!

That's what I get for looking up unanswered posts and not reading the room that it's in!! :D Sorry about that!
Blue Bayou is fun (it is along the Pirates of the Caribbean waterway (similar to how the restaurant is placed inside Mexico at Epcot). BUT, it is a bit on the spendy side.
Carnation Cafe for yummy sundaes!
The French market (Counter Service) has a fun selection and I enjoy the theming of the area!

I've eaten in many places at Disneyland & DCA so here's my list.
Table Service
#1 The Vineyard Room
at DCA it is THE best restaurant around in my opinion. A nice long leisurely meal. The menus change often. They have chicken and fish and meat dishes all the time. Evian replaces tap water. Excellent service. It's a 3 or 4 course meal depending on what you select. They also have wine selections if you desire. I loved everything about this place & can't wait to go back.
#2 Blue Bayou
in DL it overlooks the waters of PotC. It had mood lighting (dark), the sound of crickets and pirates-to-be yelling "Toss me a roll." Thar be no drink like the mint julep. It's just one of those places you need to try and the kitchen can accomodate any requests.
#3 Carnation Cafe
DL's Main Street. Sandwiches, soups, desserts, and an outdoor setting. Choose the right time and watch the parade go by. This has become one of my newer faves. Try the loaded potato soup. Yummy!
Honorable mention: Storyteller's Cafe at Grand Californian. Dinners have been OK. Preferred breakfast with Chip & Dale.
Counter Service
#1 Riverbelle
DL sits in Adventureland and also Frontierland. Outdoor seating overlooks Rivers of America. There's indoor seating as well. My friends and I love having breakfast there. They've got eggs, fruit, and best of all, Mickey pancakes.
#2 Taste Pilot's Grill
Condor Flats in DCA. They've got a nice salad with popvorn chicken that I enjoy. Also burgers, chicken sandwiches, and fries. It's cool, quiet and not far from the entrance.
#3 Pinocchio's Haus/Plaza Inn
DL's Fantasyland. They serve what we refer to as...crappy pizza but we go there anyway. It's cute, the music is playful and funny things seem to happen there. OK maybe the funny things are just cuz my friend & I happen upon strange people.
My friend LOVES the Plaza Inn. The only offer 3 or 4 items: pasta, fried chicken, pot roast and salads. I only go when she makes me.
Honorable mention:
Croc's Bits & Bites at Disneyland Hotel. Burgers, chicken, soda & fries. They're open late and cheaper than the parks. To-go only but thee are seats outside & you can sit in the bar if there's room.

For counter service I really enjoyed the Riverbelle Terrance. When I went last May I was trying to not overdo the carbs. I ordered the BBQ chicken/rib comb, and while they couldn't sell it to without the sides (like WDW often does) the CM was very helpful in offering the switch the sides that came with it for something else. Well, there was a bit of miscommunication, and rather than removing all my sides and throwing a bit of lettuce and a few pieces of fruit on my plate, I was given the full fruit platter as a side.
I give them major kudos for both service and taste.
Bengal BBQ is also a favorite. Beware though they have only a limited number of tables outside, and you'll probably find yourself standing at them to eat. Also portions aren't large so buying a few skewers for each person can add up.
Thumbs up for taste, thumbs down for lack of comfort. They are next door to the Riverbelle Terrace. I wonder if you could grab a seat in the Riverbelle and bring in a few skewers to have with a shared fruit platter? That would make a nice meal!

I usually eat sit down in Down town Disney since ist outside the gate (walking distance)
Ive eaten at the Itialian one several times and the mexican one. Im at work right now so I cant get the names of the places too handy. Ive also eaten at the rainforest there many tiems too.
My favorite counter servie: Does the sweet shop count? Actually I have had mexican food at DCA behind the tortilla factory many times, super big corn dogs over on the opposite part of DCA at a corn dog shack. I seem to miss eating anything more than snacks inside of Disneyland. I did Blue Bayau once but its so crowded and hard to get reservations sometimes.

Thanks guys. I doubt they would manage to get into Blue Bayou and probably too expensive for them anyway. It sounds fun overlooking the POC, but it will be closed when they are there, so I'm guessing it will be like when SW closed at WDW and they blocked the view from PVH.
I think they'll probably do most FF because they get a discount at most of them. But I'm sure they'll want to do at least one sit down meal.

I think the area Barb spoke of behind the Tortilla factory is Pacific Wharf. Both the Boudin (sour dough bread) and Mission (tortillas) share a common outdoor seating area. What was very nice when I was there, is an all female strolling Mariachi band was performing.
BTW, both bakeries give out samples during their short tours. Mission tortillas are so much better straight from the oven. :)
I had forgotten how good they were Robin. A must do when you are there.

Thanks guys, I've copied the suggestions and sending them to Val. Since POC is closed, Blue Bayou is closed too. I guess they'll just have to let them eat at Club 33 instead - seems only fair.
