OK, I must say I am a bit nervous about sending a guy I dont know $1000 for my disney stay. What safeguards do I have? what is the cut off date that no changes can be made to my reservation??? Not really sure what questions to ask, just dont want to get the short end of the stick.

Thanks

There is a certain level of trust on both sides of the rental transaction Baloo. You are trusting the member to make the reservation for you and send you the confirmation, they are trusting you to take care of the facility during your stay (the member is still responsible for all damage or excessive wear and tear to the unit). But I must say that I have never heard of one of these going sour. There are a couple of rental agreements on the web (I think through the DIS board) that you can use if you would feel more comfortable.

usually the payment is 1/2 the actual cost and then after you get the ressie in your hand, you pay the other 1/2 30 days prior, least that is the way i rented mine out

At what point can the reservation not be changed? When is it set in stone that I have the reservation?

The practical date of no return is 30 days out. If a reservation is cancelled at that point, the members points go into a holding account that severely limits how they can use them. It winds up being way too troublesome to try and work with. Brer's method sounds pretty standard for a rentee, 1/2 when you come to agreement and the other 1/2 30 days out when you get the reservation in your hands.
