I have a few questions about DVC for those of you who are members:

1. How much money does it cost to join?
2. How much money is it per year?
3. Do you get discounts on park tickets?
4. How many times do you get to go to WDW on DVC?

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

I have a few questions about DVC for those of you who are members:

We'll take them one at a time:

also check out this post, it explains a lot! So, How does this Disney Vacation Club work? (http://www.tagrel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9)

1. How much money does it cost to join?
Currently, Disney is selling points at the Beach Club Villas for $84 per point. I believe that points are also still available at Vero Beach for a lower cost, but I'm not positive. When buying through Disney, you have to purchase a minimum of 150 points, so that is an initial investment of at least $12,600.

2. How much money is it per year?
Yearly maintenance fees are based on a per point cost. BCV is currently $3.97 (I think) per point, so at least $595.50 on that 150 points.

3. Do you get discounts on park tickets?
The only ticket discount that DVC members currently get is 10% off the unlimited park pass for the length of your stay. MANY people have been asking for better (any?) discounts on regular Park Hoppers, or AP's but Disney is not currently giving anything. :(

4. How many times do you get to go to WDW on DVC?
DVC runs until Jan. 31, 2042. At that time your ownership reverts back to Disney. So, 39 years in which to enjoy that Disney magic (as well as trading out for other locations and/or cruises). How you use your points over those 30 years is completely up to you!

Hope that helps!

There is also the entire resale market, and I'm sure Shontell can fill you in on that possibility. It is possible to buy at sold out resorts at a lower initial cost by buying through resale! The maintenance fees vary at each resort with OKW being the lowest, and Vero being the highest.

Tagral, I read that link you posted... it helped a little LOL!!!

Ok... so you pay at first about $13,000.00 to "join". How long can you finance that for? And what range of payments are we looking at?

2nd you pay maintenance fee of $600.00 a year...right?

You can go as many times a year that you want... however you only have 150 "points" to use... and that is used up in ONE stay approx... right???

financing can go 10 years as I recall and would also depend on who financed it, disney or your local bank etc.
Fees would depend on how many points you bought

How many times you could stay would depend on when you went..it takes more points to go on weekends and more points to go during prime season and points vary on if you stayed at a Astudio or 3 bedroom villa or somewhere in between
for ex...we stayed at a 1 br villa for 5 nights in early dec , then have 2 nights in a studio at OKW in late may and have points left over for a quick summer trip for a few nights at a studio for Brenton and me
ALL WEEKDAY stays of course and all for 150 points

Ok... so you got 3 trips a year for your 150 pts? thats not bad...

It totally depends on where you stay and when you stay there! Weekends (Fri & Sat) are MANY more points than weeknights (Sun - Thurs) and the time of year plays heavily into nightly point 'cost'.

Look here for charts that show you Point Charts for the DVC resorts:

DVC Point Charts (http://tagrel.com/Points/chartFrame.html)

The thing I love is that you can use your points anyway you like. You are not locked into a specific week or resort!

the part about going any time is the thing that amazes my friends and what makes it attractive to me

Hi Pinky,

It looks like Tagrel has already answered mosts of your questions, but feel free to send any my way.
One thing worth mentioning is that if the initial investment is not in your budget right now, you can actually buy less than 150 points on the resale market just to get your foot in the door. I've had some folks buy just 50-80 points, then really stretch the points by using them during the slower seasons Sun-Thurs.

Of course, almost everybody wants more points later. :) DVC becomes addictive quickly.

All the best,
Shontell
