I discovered the joy of Valet Parking last December & decided I loved it. My question is about tipping. How much do you tip & do you tip both when dropping off & picking up or just picking up?

We tip coming and going, $2 each way. Free valet parking at DVC resorts is one DVC perk I love! I'm TOTALLY spoiled by Valet parking especially when you happen to be arriving or leaving when a cloudburst is underway! Oh, and another thing that I learned is to call from the room before heading down. They have the car there waiting by the time you arrive. :) I'm thinking this should fit nicely in Moley's 'Lazy Butt Guide to WDW'...

We used valet parking once on our last trip and really enjoyed the convenience of being able to leave the car at the Grand Floridian after breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, hop the monorail to MK for the day, and then pick up the car later. While it wasn't a freebie (we're not DVC members), it was definitely worth it for us. We also tipped $2 each time (dropping off and picking up).

We tip $1 each way. Non-DVC guests must pay for valet parking now. It's worth it!!

DVC owners have to pay at all resorts that do NOT have a DVC section. We've found it well worth the price when going to the GF. Their parking lot is quite a ways from the building and it always seems to be raining when we go there! :)
And compared to the Universal Hotels, it a DEAL! Valet parking was $12  a day at the Universal Hotels, and it cost $6 a day just to self park there!

What is the usual charge for valet parking at say, the deluxe resorts? Is the information listed anywhere? I know there are some days when those steps saved by a valet are a godsend.

Disney currently charges $6 a day for valet parking. This is good at ALL resorts for the entire day. So if you were to park at GF for breakfast and use Valet parking, you could also use valet parking at any other deluxe resort for the whole day. (I.E. at AKL, WL, BW, etc for dinner, etc.)

This got me thinking about another scenerio...So another question. Do you get a DVC valet parking card to put in your window or something when you stay DVC or just show your card? I wondered difference between DVC and Deluxe on that per day usage. If I start at GF and I go to any of the other resorts that day I'm covered DVC or not - right? :?: If I start at DVC resort for free and then go to AKL or another non DVC resort how do they know the difference? Probably a stupid and obvious question for those that have used valet... I haven't so it has become one of those hmmmm questions. I frankly can't imagine Disney missing that scenerio and lose a buck
If you are a DVC member staying at a DVC resort, you get a parking pass to go in the window. If you then go to GF, get the $$$ out, they will see that it is just a DVC pass...;)

Thank you! Last question re BCV and YC. Is BCV valet in front of BC main entrance. If we came out at YC entrance is free valet covered as DVC since they are sister resorts or is it considered separate?
Edited this post - I think I answered my own question (sorry for the silly question - I'd delete it if I knew how) with BCV DVC can no longer stay at BC for points in the Disney Collection however they can stay at YC so my guess is YC valet is not considered DVC -
