21:00:21 [WillCAD] Hi Cheri

21:01:06 [LimeGreenC] Hi Will

21:01:10 [LimeGreenC] Hi Betsyann

21:01:10 [BetsyAnn] Hey Will and LG

21:01:28 [LimeGreenC] I'm ready to blisterproof ;)

21:01:34 [WillCAD] Hi BA

21:01:38 [BetsyAnn] LOL

21:02:22 [LimeGreenC] I made PS for the Garden Grill for next Monday

21:02:25 [WillCAD] I've been lucky. I've only had 2 or 3 blisters in 12 trips to WDW.

21:03:07 [WillCAD] I've never eaten at GG. Been there a few times, but never gone inside.

21:03:09 [LimeGreenC] I usually get one blister on the same toe or at least I used to before I discovered moleskin

21:03:15 [BetsyAnn] Only two here too

21:03:29 [BetsyAnn] moleskin, baby, moleskin

21:03:30 [LimeGreenC] Hi JennyAnn

21:03:33 [WillCAD] Hi JennyAnne

21:03:50 [LimeGreenC] GG is so good, my DH is actually the one that suggested it

21:04:01 [BetsyAnn] Hey JennyAnne

21:04:01 [JennyAnne] Hello all!

21:04:26 [BetsyAnn] Garden Grill is a must do for us!

21:05:11 [WillCAD] I have some faves when I go to Epcot, and I tend to pass over trying new places.

21:05:46 [LimeGreenC] We tried GG at the last mintue last July when Sunshine fair was packed. and it was such a good decision

21:05:51 [BetsyAnn] I think GG is a favorite because it was the first character meal we ever did!

21:07:00 [JennyAnne] Is GG still a character meal now?

21:07:06 [LimeGreenC] what are your faves Will?

21:07:21 [LimeGreenC] Yes JennyAnn, I think Chip and Dale and Mickey will be there

21:07:31 [BetsyAnn] For lunch and dinner, JennyAnne -as for as I know

21:07:55 [WillCAD] I like Akershaus and Marakesh. And I eat counter-service a lot, fish & chips, and Electric Umbrella.

21:08:37 [BetsyAnn] I like Akershaus - have they changed that to a family style now?

21:09:02 [LimeGreenC] Electric Umbrella was trashed the one time we went in there, so we headed to Sunshine Fair

21:09:06 [JennyAnne] Cool...I think GG is someplace I would like to try. I don't know much about Akershaus or Marakesh.

21:09:46 [LimeGreenC] sorry I got us off topic :(

21:09:57 [WillCAD] We're not ON topic yet.

21:10:02 [BetsyAnn] Food the number one topic in all chats :D

21:10:23 [WillCAD] JennyAnne, Akershaus is in Norway, Marakesh is in Morocco. Both are excellent!

21:10:32 [BetsyAnn] And with 3 healthinators in here too! LOL

21:10:44 [LimeGreenC] oh, ok, then, sorry anyway LOL :)

21:11:03 [JennyAnne] Yup...and I'm not telling you what I'm snacking on tonight!!

21:11:23 [JennyAnne] Sounds good Will, maybe we'll give one a shot. Will my picky DH eat there?

21:11:53 [WillCAD] Depends... does he like fish? Lots of fish at Akershaus.

21:12:16 [LimeGreenC] like fried fish or fish in weird sauces kinda fish?

21:12:21 [WillCAD] Lots of chicken, lamb, some beef, at marakesh.

21:12:23 [LimeGreenC] Hi John

21:12:28 [JennyAnne] He does but I don't...I can usually find an alternative though, unlike him!! He is SOOOO picky!

21:12:34 [JennyAnne] Howdy John!

21:12:36 [WillCAD] Mostly salmon.

21:12:42 [BetsyAnn] I thought there was a pretty good variety there - not a ton of options but enough to satisfy most people

21:12:42 [WillCAD] Hi John

21:12:43 [LimeGreenC] Welcome to our open Mic chat

21:12:46 [John] Howdy

21:12:51 [BetsyAnn] Hey John

21:13:15 [John] Tonight was a salad, Healthy Choice Duo, and fruit later

21:13:31 [John] Boring.

21:13:41 [JennyAnne] Good eats John!

21:13:52 [JennyAnne] Healthy anyway!

21:13:55 [LimeGreenC] John that is a healinator kinda meal, you fit right in! :)

21:14:12 [John] Yup...Doesn't help though

21:14:28 [WillCAD] My favorite dish at Akershaus is the venison stew.

21:15:04 [John] I'll be eating at WDW soon.

21:15:09 [BetsyAnn] * BetsyAnn eating salad dreaming of cheesecake

21:15:18 [JennyAnne] That sounds good Will.

21:15:33 [LimeGreenC] I can never remember which is the norweign place and which is the morrocan place

21:15:45 [LimeGreenC] When are you going John?

21:15:46 [WillCAD] They also have great cheeses and breads at Akershaus.

21:15:50 [John] I have only been to Akershus once. I guess I am not adventurous enough for it

21:15:56 [JennyAnne] BA...I have an awesome recipe for chocolate chip cheesecake covered in a layer of chocolate. Not Healthinator approved though. :(

21:16:00 [WillCAD] Morocco is Marakesh. M-M.

21:16:11 [John] The Moroccan place hass the Belly Dancer

21:16:23 [John] We're going on July 26

21:16:28 [John] Has

21:16:33 [John] Oooppss

21:16:55 [JennyAnne] Of course...remembers the belly dancer!! :)

21:16:55 [BetsyAnn] Cool John

21:17:06 [LimeGreenC] M_M got it!

21:17:33 [John] I'm ready. We traded some DVC time for Branson in June, and it didn't do it for us

21:17:51 [BetsyAnn] One day I may ask for that reciepe JennyAnne

21:18:11 [John] Got extra Bonine for the Mission Space Preview

21:18:19 [JennyAnne] BA...I'll keep it safe until then!

21:18:34 [LimeGreenC] I'm going shopping for sunscreen tomorrow, do you all have one that is sweat proof?

21:18:47 [LimeGreenC] lol John

21:18:52 [WillCAD] I won't be going on MS till December. Hopefully they'll have worked out the bugs by then.

21:19:37 [John] I will be taking double Bonine on AP preview. My son wants to know if we can go on multiple times

21:19:44 [WillCAD] Last couple of trips I used Panama Jack SPF 45. Lasted thru the sweat pretty well.

21:20:05 [John] Maybe he can...It's yet to be seen for me, but that have a pretty good Nausea Cocktail at first aid

21:20:15 [LimeGreenC] I'll look for that Will, my kids are who I'm really worried about

21:20:16 [WillCAD] I also use Coppertone SPF 45, also lasts thru the sweat pretty well.

21:20:28 [John] I haven't even thought about Sunscreen...Guess I better.

21:20:34 [WillCAD] Panama Jack smells better. Kinda like bananas.

21:20:42 [WillCAD] Less greasy feeling, too.

21:20:45 [LimeGreenC] John, I didn't know they had nausea medice at First aid, that is good to know

21:20:54 [John] My son needs it. Other than my neck, I fare pretty well

21:21:03 [John] Yup

21:21:13 [WillCAD] Which leads us into tonight's official topic: Burns and Blisters: Common Ailments at WDW!

21:21:25 [John] It is a combo if Liquid Benadryl with Liquid Maalox

21:21:32 [John] Free, and works fast

21:21:37 [LimeGreenC] My DB got all the Cherokee Indian trates and browns so well, my DD she got all the Irish and burns like crazy

21:21:54 [WillCAD] Sunburn, of course, is near the top of everyone's list. Besides sunscreen, what other tips do you have for avoiding sunburn?

21:22:06 [John] Stay in the room

21:22:16 [John] Wear a hat

21:22:24 [WillCAD] NOT AN OPTION!

21:22:27 [JennyAnne] Hats? I always wear a baseball cap.

21:22:36 [WillCAD] Hats are good.

21:22:39 [LimeGreenC] I think people also forget about how important sunglasses are

21:22:43 [John] Watch the amount of time spent out vs in shade

21:22:56 [LimeGreenC] the eyes are also very prone to melanoma

21:23:01 [John] It's generally easy to find shady areas at the world.

21:23:03 [JennyAnne] Especially for DH with his big bald spot. He burns there easily!

21:23:27 [John] I didn't know that. I guess I better find son some clickon sun glasses

21:23:28 [JennyAnne] I didn't know that LGC.

21:23:32 [LimeGreenC] lol Jennyanne, put sunscreen on his head and don't forget his ears!

21:23:52 [JennyAnne] Good advice LGC!

21:24:09 [WillCAD] I found out the hard way last weekend, when you put sunblock on your face, put it on THICK.

21:24:25 [WillCAD] I put it on too thin and got burned on my face, neck, and ears.

21:24:30 [LimeGreenC] If I can find the website I read that on, I'll post it. It's been a while since I researched melanoma

21:25:07 [John] FInd sunscreen that won't burn your eyes...I hate it when I sweat and the sunscreen gets in eyes

21:25:09 [LimeGreenC] also put on an extra amount around the sock line

21:25:32 [JennyAnne] Thanks LGC...younger sister was at-risk for melanoma and had some iffy spots removed last year. She has to go for 6 month check ups.

21:25:42 [JennyAnne] She's only 23.

21:25:45 [LimeGreenC] I saw this poor woman with sun poisioning around her ankles, horrible blisters, first aid told her she need to go to the ER

21:26:13 [LimeGreenC] my SIL died of melanoma at age 39, that was 3 years ago

21:26:19 [WillCAD] Forget the sock line... push the socks down and put the block on as far down as you can get.

21:26:36 [LimeGreenC] i'll keep her in my prayers JennyAnne

21:26:48 [LimeGreenC] good advice Will

21:26:57 [JennyAnne] That is so young, LGC. We are not even a beach or outdoors family at all. I don't know what happened to cause this with my sister. Thanks for the prayers LGC!

21:27:06 [BetsyAnn] sorry back

21:27:17 [LimeGreenC] WB Betsyann

21:27:31 [JennyAnne] Howdy BA!

21:27:38 [John] by 1 or so

21:27:47 [BetsyAnn] You are correct on the sock line - Will - put the sunscreen on to your toes then your sock on and more sunscreenn

21:27:49 [LimeGreenC] I'm really worried about mosquitos...some folks lately have been eaten alive with them at Disney

21:27:49 [John] DUH

21:28:07 [BetsyAnn] Worst sunburn I ever got was the the tops of my feet

21:28:12 [John] I was saying...Go early, and avoid the afternoon sun if possible

21:28:34 [LimeGreenC] that is a good hint John

21:29:00 [WillCAD] I haven't ever had a problem with mosquitoes at WDW, but if you do, hydracortisoen cream will help the itch.

21:29:02 [BetsyAnn] John> I like waterbabies sunscreen - does not burn eyes and works well

21:29:04 [JennyAnne] Avoid any fragranced lotions or hairsprays LGC. (Like B&B Works type stuff).

21:29:07 [LimeGreenC] I'm thinking there is sunscreen that has bug repellant in it has anyone seen that?

21:29:29 [WillCAD] I've heard of it Cheri but I don't know where to get it.

21:29:47 [John] We open the park we are going to, then head back to resort after lunch. For naps and TV

21:29:49 [JennyAnne] DH is saying yes LCG, but doesn't know the brand.

21:29:53 [LimeGreenC] oh shoot JennyAnne, I won't know what to do if I dont' smell like sun rippenend raspberries. LOL ;)

21:30:07 [BetsyAnn] If there is a biting bug within a 100 yards it finds me and bites - no matter what -- so like Will said - hydorcortizone

21:30:23 [John] Skin So Soft??? do they have sunscreen now??

21:30:29 [BetsyAnn] mid day breaks really help, John

21:30:32 [LimeGreenC] I'll be buying out walmart tomrrow with sunscreen. LOL

21:30:44 [JennyAnne] My is green tea LCG. Love the smell!! :)

21:30:57 [LimeGreenC] I think they do John, but I'm going on Thursday, no time to call the avon lady

21:31:10 [LimeGreenC] ;)

21:31:22 [John] John is almost 10, so he won't nap, but the midday breaks are required.

21:31:36 [LimeGreenC] want to hear a really bizzare home remendy for sunburn?

21:31:36 [John] He is heck to live with if we don't break...Heat or not

21:31:42 [JennyAnne] Skin So Soft does have one, my boss ordered it the other day.

21:31:55 [WillCAD] Mid-day breaks are a good way to avoid another common ailment: exhaustion.

21:32:00 [BetsyAnn] sure, LG

21:32:13 [John] True

21:32:16 [LimeGreenC] mayonaisse takes the "fire" out... it's messy, but it works!

21:32:24 [WillCAD] But here's a question: What do you do to feel better AFTER youve been burned?

21:32:32 [BetsyAnn] Yes it is Will

21:32:52 [JennyAnne] Does salad dressing work too LGC?!? ;)

21:32:52 [John] YIKES!!

21:32:56 [LimeGreenC] however, I prefer that green slimy aloe gel to the mayo LOL

21:32:58 [John] Solarcaine??

21:33:10 [WillCAD] I use Solarcane.

21:33:15 [LimeGreenC] if it does, I'll take bleu cheese please

21:33:29 [BetsyAnn] Cool bath, then 100% aloe vera gel, and drink tons of water

21:33:39 [JennyAnne] Will...I take a really cool bath.

21:33:40 [John] I don't get burned. Son does some

21:33:49 [LimeGreenC] home remedies is what you get when you are raised by a grandmothere LOL

21:34:05 [John] He is about 3rd generation Norwegian on Mom's side. Fair

21:34:22 [JennyAnne] No LGC, not THAT kind of salad dressing. I mean like the kind that's the low-fat alternative to mayo (like Miracle Whip!) ;)

21:34:25 [John] Aloe Vera is good. I like the smell of Solarcaine

21:34:27 [WillCAD] Cool bath only helps for a few minutes JennyAnne. After you dry off, you feel the burn again.

21:34:41 [BetsyAnn] Solarcane is good too, Will - Aloe can help take down any swelling done if that is part of the burn

21:35:03 [LimeGreenC] lol JennyAnne

21:35:14 [JennyAnne] True Will, I use aloe and then sleep with only a light sheet on top of me!

21:35:29 [John] Well, I am going to run. Will talk to you all later. Stay out of the sun.

21:35:29 [WillCAD] Solarcane is tough to find at WDW. I had to go off-site to find it at Walgreens.

21:35:42 [WillCAD] Bye John.

21:35:46 [LimeGreenC] I hate those rough towels after a sunburn. ouch!

21:35:47 [BetsyAnn] John> I burned a lot as a child with sunscreen -

21:36:12 [BetsyAnn] Nothing touching a sun burn - no towels, no sheets

21:36:28 [LimeGreenC] bye John

21:36:48 [LimeGreenC] ok here is another question, since I'm packing

21:36:58 [LimeGreenC] what kind of drugs do you all take with you?

21:37:04 [JennyAnne] I got burned so bad in college one time I actually slept on the beach on a towel overnight so I would have nothing but the cool breeze on my skin...very sick afterward.

21:37:23 [WillCAD] It's also tough to find SPF 45 sunblock at MK. I only found it at the front of the park where the lockers are.

21:38:01 [JennyAnne] LGC...Tums, immodium (can you tell we're prone to tummy issues?), Excedrin (PM and Migraine), aspirin.

21:38:11 [WillCAD] I always take allergy meds, Tylenol, and Zantac. I also carry Rolaids with me... I have heartburn that would lite up a small city.

21:38:23 [BetsyAnn] I have to have 45 sunscreen or better

21:38:38 [JennyAnne] Also, DH and I each have our own prescriptions...make sure to take those.

21:38:41 [LimeGreenC] we have tummy issues too, but no more heartburn for me thanks to nexium

21:39:03 [WillCAD] I also pack a few bandaids, some lip balm (Chapstick), and a tube of Anbesol, just in case I get one of those cold sores.

21:39:12 [BetsyAnn] not really a drug - but epxson salts for those tired muscles

21:39:12 [LimeGreenC] allergy meds! I forgot those

21:39:21 [BetsyAnn] neosprin

21:39:27 [WillCAD] Bandaids are a good tool for blister repair.

21:39:43 [LimeGreenC] never used anbesol

21:39:52 [BetsyAnn] MOLESKIN, and scissors to cut it

21:39:53 [JennyAnne] Make sure your chapstick has SPF in it.

21:39:59 [LimeGreenC] neosporin and moleskin are packed

21:40:05 [LimeGreenC] true JennyAnne

21:40:21 [BetsyAnn] Did we cover footcare yet?

21:40:29 [LimeGreenC] ok scissors, will security give me hassle about blunt tipped child scissors?

21:41:00 [WillCAD] Don't know Cheri, be safe and put it in checked bags.

21:41:10 [WillCAD] Moving onto foot care now...

21:41:11 [BetsyAnn] getting into WDW? I don't think so - you could per cut a few strips if you want

21:41:21 [WillCAD] How do you PREVENT blisters?

21:41:31 [LimeGreenC] I'm not flying, I'm talking about security at the theme park gates

21:41:32 [JennyAnne] OK...STUPID question but I don't know what moleskin is.

21:41:52 [BetsyAnn] Sorry -I was not asking to move just did not want to repeat if already covered

21:42:05 [BetsyAnn] Moleskin - a foot saver

21:42:38 [BetsyAnn] It is a soft cushy side and adhesive on back -- great for hot spots on feet

21:42:51 [LimeGreenC] it has a flannel like cover Jennyanne and really protects your feet, you cut it into the size you need

21:43:26 [LimeGreenC] what do you do to prevent blisters will?

21:43:29 [JennyAnne] You put it on after you already have a blister or where you think a blister could form?

21:43:32 [WillCAD] I just use fabric bandaids to cover blisters.

21:43:53 [BetsyAnn] Foot powder spray, lots of changes of socks, and moleskin when need - have helped with feet care

21:44:17 [WillCAD] I wear snug socks and shoes. Too tight will hurt your feet, but too loose rubs, causing blisters.

21:44:37 [LimeGreenC] fabric bandaids? I thought they only came in scooby doo and bob the builder. LOL, that comes from having children

21:44:45 [BetsyAnn] You should put it on where you feel heat - I have used it on a blister a couple of time - it usually makes them pop

21:45:00 [BetsyAnn] I agree Will

21:45:03 [JennyAnne] Gotcha BA...thanks!

21:45:38 [LimeGreenC] I got some expensive socks that"keep your feet dry" well, those socks, made my feet feel like they were on fire

21:45:45 [WillCAD] Also wear white cotton socks and breathable shoes to alleviate sweaty feet. Sweatty feet will also contribute to blisters.

21:45:51 [LimeGreenC] I think they have teflon or something in them

21:46:04 [BetsyAnn] Do you all take more than one pair of good walking shoes

21:46:30 [LimeGreenC] I've heard changing socks can help with blisters

21:46:41 [JennyAnne] Yeah LGC we sell something like that at Eddie Bauer...they're supposed to "wick" the sweat away from your feet but they're about 3 inches thick! I would think they would make your feet so HOT!

21:46:50 [WillCAD] I have always taken only one pair of shoes. A good pair can last a whole trip if you are careful.

21:46:59 [LimeGreenC] I take more than one pair of shoes, in case one gets wet

21:47:38 [BetsyAnn] I have been taking more than one pair but usually just use the great walking shoes

21:47:48 [LimeGreenC] these socks were thin JennyAnne, but they made my feet beet red enough so that I left work, and went to walmart to buy a new pair

21:47:54 [WillCAD] I'm careful about not getting my feet too wet.

21:48:02 [BetsyAnn] I also have slightly paded socks - white and cotton -- they can help

21:48:29 [LimeGreenC] I try to be careful about my shoes getting wet, but sometimes in those FL thunderstorms, you can't help it

21:48:53 [WillCAD] Besides burns and blisters, the other most common ailment at WDW is exhaustion/dehydration.

21:48:53 [JennyAnne] I just bought athletic socks from Adidas and they are nice. Really comfy and padded but not too thick.

21:49:11 [BetsyAnn] I have been known to throw Uncomftable shoe way in the resort room! lol

21:49:18 [BetsyAnn] Very true Will

21:49:59 [WillCAD] Everybody knows you should drink lots of water, but what are the symptoms of dehydration?

21:50:05 [LimeGreenC] if you are actually thirsty, you've waited too long to get water in you

21:50:27 [BetsyAnn] I think people forget about drinking water and drink to much pop or beer or whatever

21:50:39 [JennyAnne] I'm afraid I will have dehydration probs with DH. He drinks SO MUCH soda and not enough water.

21:50:47 [BetsyAnn] Light headedness?

21:50:49 [LimeGreenC] headache, dizziness, passing out or "falling out" as we call it where i work LOL

21:51:15 [LimeGreenC] POP? what in the world is POP? LOL

21:51:39 [BetsyAnn] At the point of all of those - it is really time to get out of the sun, and get some fluids in you

21:51:50 [BetsyAnn] Oh - excuse me ;) Coke

21:51:52 [WillCAD] The most common symptom of dehydration is simple fatigue. If you feel tired and it's only 10:30, you're dehydrated.

21:52:12 [LimeGreenC] now your talking Betsyann ;)

21:52:13 [BetsyAnn] Good tip Will!

21:52:14 [JennyAnne] I must be dehydrated every day! ;)

21:52:24 [WillCAD] No, BA, if it's not pop, it's SODA.

21:52:40 [BetsyAnn] :D

21:53:01 [BetsyAnn] The amount of water you should drink everyday is really high -- most people are not even cloes

21:53:20 [BetsyAnn] So then you add heat, humidity and excerise - really bad

21:53:21 [LimeGreenC] No Will! It's COKE! LOL

21:53:27 [WillCAD] After you get dehydrated, water alone is not enough. You should drink some Powerade or Gatorade.

21:53:47 [BetsyAnn] I try to drink at least 16 ounces before we head out the door and then every hour at least that much more

21:53:48 [JennyAnne] BA...especially being out in the sun, you should probably almost double your water intake.

21:54:02 [LimeGreenC] I noticed that they are selling Poweraide at some of the kiosks

21:54:09 [WillCAD] Sweating makes you lose salt ans otehr minerals along with water, and sports drinks like Powerade help put them back.

21:54:10 [JennyAnne] Will, have you ever brought Gatorade mix and used it in a Brita bottle? Does that work?

21:54:38 [JennyAnne] Hey Pam!

21:54:42 [DisneyPam] hi kids...sorry I'm late.

21:54:43 [WillCAD] I like Powerade better than Gatorade. Gatorade has too much sodium and can make you sick.

21:54:48 [WillCAD] Hi Pam.

21:54:49 [BetsyAnn] Good point -- I hate the taste of most sports drinks YUCK

21:54:58 [BetsyAnn] Hey DPam

21:55:12 [LimeGreenC] Hi Pam

21:55:29 [JennyAnne] Does Powerade have a mix Will? I guess what I'm asking is is there anyway to have this without having to repeatedly buy it in the parks?

21:55:44 [BetsyAnn] Will - which flavor is the best for Powerade?

21:56:01 [WillCAD] I haven't tried the mixes in the Brita bottle.

21:56:17 [DisneyPam] but the sports drinks have too much sugar which also is bad. I prefer Propel which is a mineral enhanced water.

21:56:27 [WillCAD] I like the orange or lemon-lime Powerade BA.

21:56:38 [LimeGreenC] Propel is good!

21:56:39 [BetsyAnn] Does Propel have the electrolites

21:57:03 [BetsyAnn] Thanks Will

21:57:21 [DisneyPam] I'm not sure, BetsyAnn.

21:57:26 [WillCAD] Ah, but there is a trick to it Jenny. Drink lots of water through the day so you won't need the Powerade. Just get the Powerade when you;re very tired and dehydrated.

21:57:34 [BetsyAnn] ok

21:57:58 [DisneyPam] I just can't drink the Powerade or Gatorade crap...it makes me sick to my stomach. :(

21:58:13 [WillCAD] I don;t know if Powerade has mixes like Gatorade, but it might.

21:58:37 [DisneyPam] LGC - what is your favorite flavor? I like the lemon best and then the kiwi-strawberry.

21:58:40 [JennyAnne] Gotcha Will...not a huge fan of the sports drinks...maybe I will have the towncar service stop and I'll pick up a bottle or two for the hotel room, just in case.

21:58:40 [WillCAD] Pam, it's meant to be drunk when you are exhausted and dehydrated, so it tastes funny if you're not.

21:58:47 [LimeGreenC] I'm not really a powerade or gatorade drinker,
