Another sleep in day, at least for everyone that can sleep late!  :-)  But waking up early was good for me since I needed to type up yesterday’s trip report.  I’ve now fallen behind a day, but will probably have time in Vero to get caught up.

Today the girls are attending Grand Adventures in Cooking.  They have really been looking forward to this ever since they saw it on the WDW special food program on cable last month.  It is held at the Grand Floridian at the Mouseketeer Club.  We were told to be there at 9:45 am, but they made us come back at 9:55.  As soon as you enter they give you a pager and the girls were whisked off to have some fun.  They didn’t even look back (Maddy was a bit scared last year at the Tea Party, but not even a tiny bit upset this year!)  So Kristen and I had almost 2 hours of kid free time! :-)  We had a late breakfast PS for the Grand Floridian Cafe and headed over there.  A very relaxing and beautiful restaurant.  Our waiter was very nice and we enjoyed an excellent breakfast.  It can be very pricey there, but so are the walkup counters.  Everything was delicious and so much better than the fast food counters that we’d choose the GF Cafe every time.

apronsAfter breakfast we still had almost an hour to go, so we first walked back to the Mouseketeer Club, and found all of the aprons the girls had painted laid out to dry.  (Picture op!)  We headed back in to do some shopping and then back down to the GF Cafe Lobby to meet the girls there.  Our little ChefsThey showed up promptly at 11:45 all decked out in their colored Chef Hats and painted aprons.  There was a big try full of their special recipe of the day: Mud and Dirt and Worms! (Oh Yum!)  :-)  They spent a few minutes passing out their little dishes of the dessert to passers by (when they could find a willing victim!) :-)  It was a lot of fun – and the dessert was actually pretty good!

ContemporaryWe decided to pool hop today here at the Grand Floridian pool.  DVC members are allowed to pool hop as a perk of membership when the pools aren’t overly busy.  Magic KingdomWe changed into bathing suits in the pool restrooms and then walked over to the Marina to use some free tickets we had gotten last year during our trip.  We had two tickets for 30 free minutes in the boats – so both Kristen and I each took out one of the mouse boats for a spin around the lake.  Kristen was a bit nervous about driving it, but did great!  My Stalker Dennis! :-)They are fun and easy to drive.  Everyone has to wear a life vest, and then they give you a quick briefing of the rules and how to drive the boat.  Then you are off!  We circled around most of 7 Seas Lagoon and over to Bay Lake, before heading back to the GF.  Wilderness LodgeLots of fun!  It was while we were approaching the Wilderness Lodge area that I found out that I have a stalker!  :-)  Who comes flying up next to me, but Dennis!  LOL.  I can’t believe that we saw him again today.  Kristen and MaddyI even have the proof (that’s him in the picture).  I was a great coincidence and he and Jenine looked to be having fun!  :-)  I also got a few other pictures around the lakes.

Grand Floridian Back to the marina just as it starts to rain a bit.  Its been pretty wet this vacation, but it hasn’t really slowed us down much.  This little storm passes before we even get back to the main GF pool (with the slide).  MonorailWe enjoy that for a bit, but a real storm eventually rolls in.  After the first lightening is seen, it’s everyone out of the pool!

hair wrapsThe girls have been asking about getting a Hair Wrap, and this seems like a perfect opportunity.  They both are amazingly good and stay still while they are put in.  (Like they EVER sit still this long when their mother or I need to even brush their hair!) :-)

They came out good, and they really liked them.  The pool was still closed and even though we slept well last night, everyone is a bit tired.  We decide to head back to the room for a nap.  Jumped on the Monorail and then the boats from the MK back to the Wilderness Lodge.

When we woke up it was POURING.  We had thought about going over to the Magic Kingdom this evening, but after seeing Spectro already we decided to pass.  We instead went to the Whispering Canyon Cafe and enjoyed a great meal and bottomless Milkshakes (it was Oreo Cookie flavor night – YUM)  Our server was great, but pretty calm compared to some.  That was fine with us.  We had a great seat right next to the wall looking out into the Lobby.

We ended up with a HUGE box full of leftovers from dinner and dropped it off in the room.  The girls went to the Mercantile after dinner to spend a few more of their Disney Dollars.  Maddy wanted a new doll to play with in Vero Beach.  Brinn had her eye on a set of Tinkerbell earrings.  They were both very happy with their finds! :-)

I took off to take a few pictures around the lodge.  I wanted to use my tripod to get shots without using a flash, and some came out pretty good.  I was happy with the outcome for the most part, but still need a lot more practice before I get it right every time! :-)

It was great just to spend some time around the resort.  Since we are headed to MK again on Thursday, I didn’t feel like we really missed anything by not going there tonight.  And we really enjoyed spending some time in the lobby by the fireplace, and roaming around the resort a bit.  There was even time to head back to the room so the girls could watch the bedtime stories.

After putting them to bed, it was great to head off to our room.  Kristen was tired and decided to sleep right away, so I worked on the trip report and got day 3 posted.  Off to bed...  Animal Kingdom tomorrow!
