We
had originally
planned a character breakfast this morning at Cape May Cafe, but have
not been feeling the 'Feed my face until I bust' love this trip too
much. ;-) Good thing we aren't on the dining plan I
guess!
So - we canceled our meal there and slept in a bit
and ate
in the room. This morning is a Stormalong Bay morning and
I'm
looking forward to FINALLY meeting a very old and dear friend in person
for the first time! :-)
We
got
ready and finally got out to the pool around 10:30.
Sandi and family were staying at the Yacht Club, so we had
planed
to meet today. I hope Sandi wasn't waiting on us TOO long,
but
she is too kind to say anything if she was! She must have
seen
us coming because she was right there at the entrance to Stormalong Bay
to say hi as soon as we entered. Sandi (Sandar on the boards)
has
been a long time friend since way before I ever even ran my boards, and
that has been over 6 years. But with all the meets and get
togethers we have never been lucky enough to cross paths until now.
Even
so I'd warned her about my current
cootie status ahead of time so
it was virtual hugs all around! :-) (Cough, cough)
I
have to say that a pool meet in August is a nice cool and
comfy
way to chat! :-) Sandi's husband John and daughter
Alison
had been waiting in the pool and came out to say hi. It was
great
meeting everyone and after we dumped off our stuff we all hit the pool.
The girls went off to dive for toys and dodge the ducks that seem to
have taken over the Stormalong Bay pool area. These little
guys
are cute and all, but have no human fear anymore and were in the pool
in several locations. I know this really bothers some folks
so
I'm surprised that Disney doesn' do anything to discourage them.
Anyway,
the girls
went off to play and get to know each other a bit.
Kristen and I spent a very nice time floating and chatting
with
Sandi and John until around lunchtime. Such a nice family and
we
shared park stories and enjoyed the time together. They would
be
leaving the next day but had Epcot on the nights todo list just like we
did.
We split off for lunch and headed over to Hurricane Hannah's for
something to eat. We snagged a table and found more ducks
looking for handouts here. LOTS of ducks. And PUSHY
ducks.
I had one about 5 inches from me the whole meal. We
don't
feed the birds because we know it just makes them more aggressive and
the food is bad for them to boot. But it seems a LOT of other
guests don't share that opinion... Sigh... Hope
Disney
figures something out before one attacks a small child for their food
sometime.
But
the food was good and we finished up
and headed off to find Sandi
and company. They had opted for some Beaches and Cream fare
(Yum!) and were just getting
started. Sandi presented the
girls
with some lovely bracelets that they REALLY like. (Thanks
Sandi!)
I didn't see them again at the pool as I only lasted another
hour I think before I headed back to the room for a nap. We
hit
the slide a couple times, and then by the second slide it started to
storm.
We spent our wait time in the Arcade and then after it cleared and they
let us back in we swam a bit more. I left for the room and
spent
the afternoon crashed. I've slept more on this vacation so
far
than ALL our vacations combined I think! ;-) And
its not
really getting any better yet... By tomorrow I'll be off to the walkin
unless I see a change. Yay! Another vacation first
to
experience! ;-)
The girls came back with stories of pool games and lots of wet fun.
We had a very nice and relaxing day but my poor camera must
be
feeling so lonely this trip. I haven't been lugging it to
parks
because I don't want to carry the thing all day. I barely
have
the energy to carry me! And its showing in the trip
reports...
Sorry! But with Kristen and Brinn taking along
their
cameras we are finding a few shots to share. ;-)
